  1. The Eagles are looking pretty good to this point. 7 wins 1 loss. That loss was by 1 run, and were pitching down in the rotation. Should develop into another good season, our big bats started slow, but are coming on now. Biggest test of the season coming next week against Loretto! Games every day next week. How are the Mustangs and the rest of D-12 looking?
  2. Summertown plays Perry County Monday & Tuesday. How are the Viking's looking?
  3. I think Summertown is more than solid pitching. Had some big time hits as well. If we can build from this, I think we will do well. Landrum, Beard & Ambrose are the top 3. Not sure how they will fall in the rotation.
  4. congratulations Loretto AND Columbia Academy! Region 6 is "IN DA HOUSE!!!"
  5. Summertown Columbia Academy scrimmage tonight. Summertown 18 C.A. 1. But way too early to put any real weight on that. Summertown did look pretty good defensively. Pitching pretty good, but have a bunch of room for improvement. Very little practice to this point
  6. Watch out for the Summertown Eagles! Much stronger than I expected, young so will improve all season long
  7. LETS GO DISTRICT 12A! BRING IT BACK SOUTH!!!
  8. I am really shocked that someone from "LORETTO" hasn't chimed in regarding the grammatical handicap spewing out from the west. Anyway, Collinwood did out shoot Summertown for sure. Summertown did not fire the ball well from any level on the floor. That was the only way in which the eagles were out played. Of course that's the best way to beat them too. I think Perry County has a good team with some good talent, but not enough to "beat the brakes" off even Frank Hughes. Scott is one of the hardest playing guys you will find at the high school level. While he makes mistakes and has bad nights, his level of desire to win is something that can't be coached, and garners respect at the very least from any fan of class, no matter how you feel about Summertown.....which I don't get the hate shown here lately anyway.
  9. Summertown lost 5 starters from last seasons team. Matthews and Morrison were 2 losses that hurt in pitching. but Summertown should be very deep and good there. Unfortunately lost a very important piece of the pitching corp as well..Won't go into that, but have some very good pitching behind the 2 I named above. Hitting power is the area I'm worried we lost too much of for a deep run, but speed should be better. so a little small ball may play bigger in the game this season. Never know how the good lord will bless you season to season with underclassmen though. Hopefully some of the young ones have packed on some strength. With the pitching depth, it should turn out to be a good season. 2 seasons ago, that's what gave us our deep state tourney run.
  10. patiently waiting for sports transition.......
  11. Perry County over Wayne County Summertown over Frank Hughes
  12. Who will be 1 and 2 pitchers this year for each team? For summertown, it should be Beard and possibly Ambrose, or vice versa. Several other talented arms though that could contest.
  13. Just wondering, who is " pretty boy from Columbia"? Do you know his name?
  14. Honestly Summertown SHOULD have a home court advantage! After all, it is suppose to be in Summertown this year. Kinda sucks for us!
  15. WOW! Waynesboro beat Collinwood. What is it about that gym that makes their home games such an advantage for them?
  16. Not sure at all. I know Summertown will probably be weaker. Should still have some good pitching, but have lost some hitting, unless young players step it up from summer ball
  17. I know who won the Summertown/Frank Hughes. Havent heard any of the other scores? Who won??
  18. It's actually a sportsmanship rule. No matter how the fans act in the stands....just as you can't enter the lane or cause a visual distraction at the free throw line, you can't clap, scream, and move towards (inside the 3 point line) the shooter in the process of shooting. Perry county coach knew it right away. Unfortunate it got called for Perry County. But it was obvious the players intent at the time. and it is a display of bad sportsmanship. Just as in football you can't mock or mimic the quarterback when on defense.
  19. I gotta say even though I pull for Summertown. its kinda disappointing that someone had to lose that game last night. Both teams fought their hearts out. The one kid from Perry County, unfortunately I can't recall his number played one of the most complete games I've ever seen from our District. If you were at the game, you know who I am talking about. For Summertown, Perry had the 3 dropping in most of the night, and Beard came up big scoring and defensively when needed most. The 2 blocks in OT were HUGE!!
  20. I am an Eagle supporter, BUT am very critical of the level of play as well! I have to agree with you, by the time this team hits district play, I expect all the pieces that are slightly out of place will be there. This team did not play the preseason tournaments and such as years past, and have come out playing this well. It will only get better. Lawrence County has a very good team this year. Waiting to see how Loretto fares against them
  21. From what I understood at the game the other night, Spring Hill doesn't have much more than they played against Summertown as far as scoring goes. If not for the fact that Summertown was slow in recognizing they needed to cover #22 a freshman, the score would have been much different. Once they put someone on him, it shut the "3" down. HE WILL BE A PLAYER TO WATCH IN THE FUTURE
