  1. Summertown wins over Houston County! In OT. Blank on the score, hopefully someone remembers
  2. Oh and GOOD LUCK to Columbia Academy against Community! Go Bulldogs
  3. Great job Eagles!! Good all around game....enjoy it for a couple hours....but it's past you now... and FORREST IS NEXT TO THE PLATE! Be ready! I think you can only be beat by......YOU!! Have fun!
  4. suppose to be 6pm if we don't get washed away
  5. I've read 'em all in this topic.....WOW! I didn't have any issues till you knock on S'town. Like if you ain't triple A your not "satisfactory" competition that could make your team better....OK. BTW thanks to the 3Aers who recognize. BUT I just gotta get to a point that seems to be missed here, and in my opinion means more than coaches phyc. degrees or game strategy's or any of that horse hockey. We have a bunch of that around here. There are two elements of a successful baseball team that are more important than anything else mentioned here, and if your team doesn't have all of them, then consistency will not be with your program. 1. PARENTS DEDICATED TO "EXTRA WORK" WITH THEIR KIDS AT HOME TO MAKE SURE THEIR READY FOR GAME DAY! ASK THE COACH FROM SUMMERTOWN. HE DOESN'T TAKE THE CREDIT FOR ALL OF SUMMERTOWNS SUCCESS. HE KNOWS WHAT HAPPENS AT MOST OF HIS PLAYERS HOMES, OR THAT HIS PLAYERS GET TOGETHER AND DO ON THEIR OWN. KIDS LIKE HIM BECAUSE HE IS MAKING BASEBALL FUN WHILE KEEPING EXPECTATIONS HIGH! HE DOESN'T WORK ON PITCHING OR HAVE A ROUTINE FOR PLAYERS THAT DON'T SEE THE FIELD OFTEN. BUT HE DOES EXPECT YOU TO PUT IN THE EXTRA TIME TO MAKE UP FOR WHAT YOU DON'T GET A CHANCE TO DO DURING TEAM PRACTICES. YOU HAVE TO HAVE PLAYERS THAT ARE COMMITTED TO WORKING HARD AT FUNDAMENTALS AND NOT..... JUST WORKING. YOU CAN DO BOTH IN THE SAME AMOUNT OF TIME! TAKING EXTRA PRACTICE AT THE TEE ON YOUR OWN OR WITH A PARENT OR FRIEND. COACHES CAN'T EVEN BEGIN TO PRACTICE ENOUGH TO MAKE SURE EVEN HALF OF THE KIDS ON THE TEAM GET ENOUGH REPS TO GET BETTER. 3. EACH TEAM HAS TO HAVE AT LEAST ONE LEADER THAT WILL CALL YOU OUT FOR BEING EXACTALLY ON TIME, AND NOT 15 MINUTES EARLY TO PRACTICE TO BE STRETCHED AND READY. IF YOUR LATE THOSE PLAYERS ARE CALLING YOU TO FIND OUT WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON...AND YOU NEED A GOOD EXCUSE TO LIVE IT DOWN! TRUE TEAM LEADERS OR CAPTAINS IF YOU WISH. THE FACT I AM TRYING SO HARD TO STATE HERE IS THAT EVEN "THE BEST" COACHES HAVE LITTLE CONTROL OVER A CONSISTANTLY GOOD PROGRAM. PARENTS HAVE TO STEP UP AND BE THERE ALL THE TIME FOR THE KIDS ON THE TEAM AND THE PLAYERS HAVE TO HAVE ACCOUNTABILITY TO LIVE UP TO THEIR POTENTIAL. There my friends is where the potential blame should lie in most cases. These good work ethics and dedication to ones own self even are taught and developed at an early age, by ...you guessed it.....the parents!! And bring on the 3a teams. We love the competition. I hope we give it back. If not...you can bet our kids will work hard for the next one. Help your kids and push a little on yourself and them
  6. I agree with your regional order. Just hope the state bracket isn't stacked to one side like last year. True Summertown is loaded this season, and next season should be just as good! Probably will get thin after that. Can't count 'em before they hatch though. A bad game from a top team with the current format can wreck a season. It would be ashame if the 2 truly best teams didn't face off whomever they are.
  7. Nick Green pitched possibly the game of his career. No one has been able to hold Summertown down the way he did last night! Great game Nick!! Loretto gave a stellar performance, but pitching performance for eagles Lyons who started, and Beard to close 5th thru 8th was good enough to squeak by the Mustangs to clinch 2 District Tourneys in a row!! Congrats Eagles! ALSO congrats to Austin Mathews for season MVP & Nate Morrison for Tournament MVP Honors!
  8. Summertown clinches repeat 12A District title tonight in a true pitching duel with Loretto! Great job to both teams! Both definitely deserve a trip to regionals after that performance!! What happened tonight in 11A?
  9. Much better game live in person though! Nick Green pitched possibly the game of his career. No one has been able to hold Summertown down the way he did tonight! Great game Nick!! Loretto gave a stellar performance, but pitching performance for eagles Lyons and Beard to close 5th thru 8th was just good enough to squeak by the Mustangs to clinch 2 District Tourneys in a row!! Congrats Eagles! And congrats to Austin Mathews for season MVP & Nate Morrison for Tourney MVP Honors!
  10. Lets wake it up again! Bout that time. What's happening in district 11? Who's still in??
  11. ANYONE KNOW WHATS GOING ON IN DISTRICT 11?
  12. Austin pitched a great game! Bats were a little dead on our part. A couple errors in the field from the Mustangs are really how it run ruled along with the difficulty they had finding the strike zone later in the game. We need to hit the ball better and more consistent.
  13. Loretto beat Waynesboro tonight. Summertown beat Collinwood 8-0. Nate Morrison pitched an outstanding game! Monday night Waynesboro and Collinwood then Summertown & Loretto
  14. What are we looking at for Saturday in district play? Been working and no news on results
  15. wonder if rainouts will be made up this week in region 6???
  16. These two umpires were bad to say the least! But good teams rise above bad calls....which is what the Eagles did! GREAT WIN EAGLES!! It was like beating 2 teams at once
  17. Summertown beat Giles County tonight 3-1
  18. Summertown beat Lincoln County tonight 7-2. Austin Matthews pitched a great game
  19. Keep the faith in your kids. If they work hard enough, and really want it, the talent IS there. Coaches play an important role in the success, but I have always believed desire to win and the willingness to work are the 2 most important parts in any of life's successes. A good coach should always instill the basic principles of discipline for a team, but wins & losses are truly up to the kids.
  20. 3 of the 15 came from 1 hit in the game. Just because an error was made during relays of the ball doesn't mean all of the runs scored during that play were unearned. There were at least 5 hits from Summertown....that even without errors in the field would have scored runs. I agree however that Lawrenceburg was definitely out of sync defensively. Anyway, good luck to L'burg! Hope you guys finish well. You have some good talent on this team
  21. Summertown defeated Lawrence County tonight 15-0 in 5 innings!! Pitcher Crowell pitched a no hitter backed up by some awesome defensive plays, of which a pair of double plays and an ESPN diving catch from Matthews in left field! Summertown had some power in the bats tonight as well....that pressure forced a few fielding errors by Lawrence County. Beard hit the power shot of the night with a homer to the center field 370 spot.
  22. Summertown swept Lewis County today. Score of 2nd game 8-2
  23. Congrats to the Vikings! Summertown swept Wayne County tonight. Won 11-1 in 5 innings
  24. Not sure about other scores...but Summertown beat Waynesboro 7-1 tonight. Hope round 2 doesn't get rained out on Tuesday. Austin Matthews pitched a gutsy game. Battled thru knee issue for a complete game!
  25. Summertown beat Hickman County 10-0 last night and got rained out at start of 2nd inning with CA. Summertown leading after 1st 3-0
