  1. I noticed our offense on several formations and observed two sophomores and a freshmen in the backfield and two freshmen lined up as receivers. I thought then, that we would have to play well to have a chance. That did not happen. Even without the mistakes we would/will need better QB play to have a chance. MBA played with much more poise and their offensive line did an incredible job. I was shocked how safe the QB was every time. Chris Jordan will not change the results unless we can throw the ball better. With a tough defense like MBA, we will have to complete a couple of those bombs when we had the secondary burnt. It will be tough with or without Chris Jordan to sustain too many drives. Given all of the short fields, our defense played as well as can be expected. It would have been nice to get to the QB a little more, but that was not a deficiency of our line as much as a proficiency of the MBA offensive line (IMO).
  2. BA runs a 4-3 McHaney - Waverly Belmont Tuani- North Carolina (moved here 5 years ago or so) Carruethers -South Nashville Jr. Pro Dabney - Spring Hill Lewis - Una (often rotates in)
  3. The answer to the question: "How did BA get so good so fast?" This question can be answered easily with two words: CARLTON FLATT
  4. We failed in 1990 and again a few years ago when we lost 21-20 to Cincy Xavier by missing an extra point. It's time to give the established program a whack at it. You guys always seem to do well when you head north. It will be strange not to be dependent on your MBA score updates via my PDA this week.
  5. MBA is going to represent TN. No need for BA to go. Nice of you to think of us, though.
  6. A lot of your posts are meant to tweak the Rebel fans, I think. This is definitely one of your best posts. I hope the answer to your question is as thoughtful as the post.
  7. He is originally from Maury County and his family moved to Atlanta for a few years and they moved back. Interestingly enough, he gave Una fits and handed their top teams some loses as a youth player.
  8. I agree that MBA has beaten BA in the past because of coaching and heart or discipline or some intangible. Who can forget the Clinic Bowl of 2002? I would say BA sometimes has better athletes, but there has been years that MBA had better athletes, as well. Who could forget that stable of athletes that MBA brought to the field in 2003? This year BA has good athletes but starts freshmen and sophomores in key positions. It is actually a semi-rebuilding year. Who knows who is better coached this year? Both coaches are new. You can't use previous years to make the call in the coaching department. All bets our off and new chapters are to be written.
  9. There were 14 boys that had signed contracts. 13 had submitted deposit checks. He only sent letters to the 13 that had both signed and paid. The one boy who had only signed but not paid was not sent the letter. Most reasonable people that were not on a witch hunt or biased, do not feel that he unduly influenced kids that had already signed and paid. If he was really trying to influence someone, why would he not pester the kid's family that had not paid? Bottom line is, you can't recruit students that you already have.
  10. I know Brandon put a bee in you guys' bonnet, but there is a different board where you can blow off steam about the private vs. public debate. You give Brandon a lot of satisfaction when you come on a thread like this all steamed.
  11. Just joined today. Lots of bitterness.."Dude". I know who this is. Hi Ramsrule!
  12. I don't know how the brackets work, but I sure hope that it would be in the championship game and not the semi finals. I think the same vanilla rule goes for BA. I think this game will come down to QB play as the deciding factor.
  13. My take was as follows. Regardless of record, JP2 executed some offensive plays very well. Also, our defense did not show the same intensity that I have seen in some past games. They seemed to be going through the motions without the fire in the belly that I saw the previous week. I sure hope that was a temporary thing. Funny, I was typing at about the same time as you and our takes were pretty similar. "Great minds..."
  14. I hope I did not use up all of my prognosticating magic in one night. I would love to go 2 for 2 on my picks.
  15. I guess if you are putting a spin on it you could say it that way. However, I can't help looking down the barrel of 6-0 MBA, 6-0 Ryan, 5-1 (only loss to Ryan) BGA coming off of 5-0 Westside. I think we deserve a PJP. But, that's just me.
  16. You must be joking. Brandon fully intended to open the can. I can tell by all of his posts that he is having a blast. By the title of the thread I can tell he was baiting the Rebel faithful.
  17. I hope you don't mind me butting in. MBA by 14 over Ensworth and BA by 4 over MBA. I haven't felt any better about a pick, since I took Oklahoma over Boise State last season.
  18. When I started to read your post, I thought, "how immature". However, as I got deeper into the the reading, the "ahem" made me chuckle and made me reclassify it as "witty and amusing".
  19. KW, I am normally a fan of your posts and I like this one, except a small detail that may classify me as thinned skin. Your BA disclaimer/exception from storied history ("except BA..."pretty good"). It is your opinion and I know it is a fact based opinion, so I wanted to present some relevant facts that will come across as bragging, but I would like to try and sway your opinion: Brentwood Academy: Highest winning percentage since 1970, 384-78-3 since varsity play started over 37 years ago (not the least number of wins out of the Super 7 despite "short existence"), Since playoff system, one of 4 teams in the Super 7 to win state championships when all teams were combined, one of 3 teams to win at the highest classification. If it wasn't for www.hsfdatabase.com (Thanks RRR), I would have just let you hurt my feelings /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  20. Ouch BRBB! I was just trying to write colorfully. /flower.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":flower:" border="0" alt="flower.gif" />
  21. It's no longer about opinion Old Dad. The Irish have won their way to "Big Boydom" .
  22. The 5-0 Westside High School Rams from Anderson, South Carolina are coming to Brentwood, this Saturday, in a clash of interstate titans. The Rams will probably be ranked in the top 5 in the next AAAA Associated Press Poll (SC largest classification). Byrnes is ranked first in this class. The Rams will tour Vanderbilt and UT during their visit to Tennessee. Due to the travel, the game will be played at 1PM at Brentwood Academy. Should be an interesting Tennessee vs. South Carolina battle.
  23. That is exactly my opinion. I haven't seen Ensworth play this year, so this is good old fashioned message board speculation. They are a ticking time bomb for the future as everyone has known since they hired Ricky Bowers and put a shovel in the ground. However, in my opinion they are going to need some big turn overs to beat Super 7 teams this year.
  24. Thad had a ball go through his hands, but had another solid defensive performance. I don't remember any passes to Chris Jordan. However, had touchdown runs of 3, 42 and 66 yards. 18 carries for 185 yards.
