  1. Out of the West Single A: BTW, TCA DOUBLE A: Mitchell, Southside TRIPLE A: Ridgeway, White Station
  2. Detric Lawson is the real deal, he dropped 41 on White Station last night. END OF DISCUSSION!
  3. No, it was coaching not the 18 free throws we missed.
  4. Don't be fooled by Mitchell's record four of there losses happened without there best player Spencer. The other two losses where by 2 points to White Station and by 2 points to Whitehaven both ranked in the top 10 in the state in 3A.
  5. Griffin of BTW is averaging over 25 points per game and can score from anywhere. He leads the city of Memphis in scoring and should be considered one of the best in Singe A.
  6. Hamilton will not be moving to double A, they opted to stay Triple A.
  7. In the late 80's and early 90's Fayette Ware had some awesome teams, but questionable coaching. I remember a team in 92 that ran BTW out of the gym. They were deep and athletic. They've had some players come thru there.
  8. Bolivar didn't look great against Mitchell losing to them with Mitchells best player out with injury. JSS beat that same Mitchell team by 20+, not saying that matters but it is a measuring stick.
  9. @ Cubs.......I agree, too early to give away the gold ball....
  10. If we are talking true rivalry.....BTW vs Carver, Melrose vs Hamilton, East vs Tredwell, White Station vs Raliegh Egypt, Whitehaven vs Westwood (back in the day) Fayette Ware vs Bolivar or Haywood....Ridgeway vs White Station.........Liberty vs Bolivar or Jackson SS
  11. Mtown I think your list is on point with the exception of Sheffield. They are the best Double A team in Memphis. Mitchell has looked horrible without Spencer, but I think they will be there in the end. I hear Spencer is back just in time for the showdown with Da Haven tomorrow. Sorry BTW I'll be in Walker Homes tomorrow. Fayette Ware should be top 5, they have a good mix of talent with sweet shooting Shaquille Cooper and a Manchild in 6'5 230lbs Cortavius Miller. I'm waiting for Jan 8 when they go to Jackson SS. I AM A HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL JUNKIE, I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!!
  12. Spencer will be out for at least 4 more weeks per his dad. Really bad high ankle sprain. I too have seen Bolivar, Covington, SS, and Fayette Ware. Bolivar & Covington are on the same level, Fayette Ware is better than both but not as good as SS. Fayette Ware presses the entire game and has pretty good size. They should make some noise on that side.
  13. Same here, I've been following Chris Malik and Khalil since they were 7th graders and I was hoping to see them go at it. Unfortunately Spencer didn't play Chris was ejected however Malik did his thing.
  14. Bigboy I don't hv a dog in the fight, just stating what I saw. In that game it was more of what Mitchell didn't do than what SS did. In my opinion.
  15. Was at the game SS was okay not great at all. Mitchell was just horrible no fight, no scoring, no heart. The 1st half was very competitive after halftime not so much. Mitchell may have scored 10 points and that had nothing to do with SS's defense. Spencer was definitely missed.
  16. Any reasonable or logical person knows that the best talent or coach doesn't always win in a single elimination scenario. U can't coach dumb luck, a 74 foot prayer. Really? You take the 2 losses just like the 32 wins.
  17. What whinning are you talking about Vandychris? If referring to post why would there be whinning when I was discussing a BTW WIN with another poster. I shouldn't even reply but........Lets be clear You just put every Memphis School in one basket when like everything there are exceptions. So I will speak on what I know. If you look at BTW's roster you will see that there was not one transfer student on the roster from last year or the 3 years before. BTW is a program built from our South Memphis neighborhood. You talk true Single A, (meaning enrollment) well you East, and Middle TN boys can kiss your State title hopes good bye after 2013......
  18. Candychris why read the thread or even comment if you're tired of hearing about BTW? Just keep it moving! HATER!!!
  19. Trader2 you're delusional, I too was at that game and it was not called fair, that was the reason for the stall tactic (removing uncle Jed & Bubba from the game). There is more than one reason why good coaches use that tactic. As for the crowd, there was a great turnout but nothing BTW wasn't accustomed to (r u serious). Free agency now that's funny, kids move, transfer whatever however BTW isn't a school that benefits from that. We are lucky to have a feeder school (neighborhood middle school) that produces talent (ie the next stud). By the way there's a 6'5 monster there now. You're so high on your coach why didn't the genius remember to foul so you guys would've had a chance to play. Less than 2 minutes no team fouls and you're down 7 in the 4th.
  20. Tradertwo what u call an embarrassment I call it wit. After being in environments similar to TCA's where you're playing the team and the hometown refs you take the W anyway you can. Furthermore, you start the 3rd with your 2 best players with 3 fouls a piece and the lead hmmm, seems like a no brainier to me. As for recruiting, you're obviously not familiar with the Memphis area, BTW is not a school that a parent would consider sending there child just for athletics.
  21. Take it how you want it, every other thread on here discussing single A is predicting that BTW has no chance due to losing Spencer, but as the title reads don't count them out. Vandychris yeah your prayers were answered last year, it comes with it, but at no point did I say that BTW were world beaters. Funny how they put all the W. TN teams in the same bracket. Hmmm coincidence but anyway Congrats on your title. See you in the Boro!
  22. Washington lost Spencer and Newby, BUT they have Griffin and he has taken his game to another level. BTW has size, and athleticism. I knew they would be fine without Spencer but they are really good.
  23. Icy as you know some kids get it & some don't. To this day some of the choices those two (Allen & Moy) have made are beyond stupid.
  24. tradertwo there are other variables that come with the athletes at BTW. Even though Horton doesn't develope kids he does wonders managing personalities and the outside influences that come with inner city athletes. The guy has close to 700 wins and a State Championship so something is working for him.
  25. @ReitzFan not saying all transfers in the Memphis area are on the up & up, but the zoning in Memphis is like no other in the state. Example..my kids go to a Memphis City School but on the next street over less than a half mile from me the kids are assigned to a totally different school district. Here u can darn near move across the street and be assigned to another school.
