  1. We only lost one game last year, and we've lost our one for this year. Fayetteville Tigers come out of Wayne County with a "W", final score 34 - 14 FHS. Four TDs and two FGs! How's that for going out on a limb?
  2. Sorry I couldn't answer your question Friday night. We're still here, getting ready for a tough Wayne County team that has a stingy defense and an offense that is averaging 20 points a game. Unlike Moore County. Good luck this week, beat Cascade!
  3. No rain for us Friday, just a few sprinkles, but electrical issues (?) with the scoreboard delayed play, slowed down momentum for FHS. No working play clock the whole game. Someone came into the press box where the FHS radio guys were and told them they had to turn off their lights, had to work in the dark most of the game! Funny, the lights stayed on in the other press box rooms. Hmmm. At least MC has a couple of weeks to "fix" the problem before the next home game.
  4. I'll have to agree. The zebras took the game away from both teams with their calls--or non-calls. Worst I've seen in a long time. MC played great and FHS couldn't overcome the conditions. Time to move on and prepare for a tough Wayne County team at their house. It was a wake up call for our boys. Let's go Tigers!
  5. I hate to butt in to your conversation thread, but having alrady seen both of these teams play against my Fayetteville Tigers, let me throw this out there. Community has some very good receivers, very tall and athletic—with good hands. The line often couldn’t keep us off their quarterback, who had to start scarmbling to avoid losing yards. When he had time to look and throw, they could move the ball. It seemed to me that Community just couldn’t find a way to get it in the end zone, even though they were on or inside the twenty a couple of times. I agree with you that MTCS’s QB is mobile, also strong; he broke out of tackles for loss to get back to the line. They also have good receivers to throw to, and he’s got a great arm. Our safeties broke up several long passes that could have gone all the way. He must have gotten tired trying to do it all in the second half because he was taking some hard hits. It’s hard to believe that MTCS has yet to win a district game (since 2010), but I’m guessing this will be their first. MTCS 21 – 7 in this one.
  6. Any opinions out there on this game? Thinking Eagleville gives Forrest their first district loss.
  7. But what do I know? We're just a first year team playing with the big dogs.
  8. Wow, really? I want some of what you're smoking. LOL. How do you suppose MC is going to put 14 on the board? Scorekeeper assistance? Keeping the Fayetteville team bus from entering the city limits? I don't think MC can generate that much offense, they used up all their plays in the first two games.
  9. C'mon down! We'll be 5-0 when we play Eagleville so it'll be a great game to watch. City has an exciting offense and a headhunter mentality on D. It's been great high school football so far and they get tighter each week.
  10. Anybody want to go out on a limb and predict a final for this one? FHS @ Moore Co., and I'll say FHS 21-0 when it's all said and done.
  11. Ambassador, you were dead on! What a game, back and forth defensive struggle, 14-12 at the half. MTCS couldn't convert after their TDs, FHS kept pounding away. If not for some penalties FHS would have scored even more. With the final at 28-12 it was a heck of a football game! GO TIGERS! Watch out Moore Co., you're next in our sights.
  12. What did Forrest and Wayne Co. do to shut down Moore's offense? Two back to back shutouts? I'm predicting the streak continues again this Friday with a 21-0 loss to Fayetteville. GO TIGERS!
  13. Thanks for the best wishes Southtowner. Seems like we played South Pittsburg last year or two years ago as a JV team. Yes, that would be fun.
  14. Fayetteville High is open to any student that lives in the county or city limits. We have lost students transferring to County and some LCHS students have transferred to us, it's all about choice and what we can offer as opposed to what county can offer. That being said, we think we have a good thing going across the river, i.e. a good combination of academics AND athletics. Being a smaller school, we're balancing success in the classroom with success on the field or court. Unlike some colleges that try to accomplish both and can't, we are starting to see that it is possible. And while our teams have been undergoing a trial by fire competing against bigger, established programs laden with upperclassmen/women, our Tigers are being recognized as competitive until the last whistle blows. A long answer to your short question, but I and others are very proud of our school and our kids. I'll put on my orange colored glasses again and say we'll take down Middle TN Christian tomorrow by three TDs. We will make some noise in D9 this first year, and I hope it continues past this District.
  15. Yup again! Easily the best wings and probably the best burgers in town too. They have a barnyard burger with beef (natch), chicken fingers, bacon, and a fried egg in it. It's HUGE! I've had a couple in my time. Cold adult beverages also.
  16. Yup! Still there plugging away. Good burgers and steaks. You need to come back and eat in the jail cells.
  17. Well, let me regroup and take off my orange colored glasses. You're right, both of us are undefeated with victories coming from winless teams, so we're both par in that respect I agree. And MTCS has played one more game and has more experience this season, as well as probably have more seniors and/or upperclassmen than FHS. I think the difference is that MTC's wins over Cannon County 33-0 (who also lost to Jackson Co. 36-0) and Zion Christian 35-0 (who also lost to McEwen 32-14) were put downs of WEAK teams. In their win over Mt. Juliet Christian 48-17 (who also lost to Whitwell 31-21), at least MJCA has scored points this season. Fayetteville's wins over Richland 41-6 (who also lost to Moore Co. 51-14 and Cornersville 26-14) and Community 42-0 (who have lost to Sequatchie Valley 40-3 and Silverdale 38-0) were both out of hand after the first half and the mercy rule was in effect. But I would say that anyone who can score 14 on MC and Cornersville has to be not weak, and Community has been a few plays or penalties away from winning their games (except against us!). Sooooo, you may be right that neither team has really been tested with no common opponents to compare. I'll retract my statement for now and come back on Monday after the game.
  18. Thanks FreeAgent! I enjoy talking food and football, not always in that order. But I do love talking Tiger Football, and having watched these young men grow into the game the past few years, including one of my own who started playing two years ago, has been exciting and entertaining. Coach Palmer is a class act, and he mentors his coaches and all his boys. We have players on the team that wouldn't or couldn't play at another school because of their size or experience, but Coach P is a teacher and mentor. My own son would never have considered playing if Coach P hadn't convinced him he was needed and could help the team succeed. This wouldn't have happened at another high school. We are small, size-wise, but he has this team and his staff 100% behind him and they're playing with a lot of heart and attitude. Wait a minute FreeAgent, did you mean snack talk or smack talk? Either way glad to be here.
  19. You're right on Big Blue. The school "started" two years ago with Sophomores as the highest class, adding a new class each subsequent year. This will be our first Senior class that will graduate, and there are eight seniors on the football team. As well, this is our first year of Varsity football competition after two years playing JV teams. We bring an experienced coaching staff and a lot of heart and competition to District 9, as well as a lot of speed, but I'm very optimistic about our success. Middle is sitting on a 3-0 record, that's correct, but their wins have been against teams of a lesser caliber, in my opinion. Granted, Richland is not a Moore County, but I think we should send MTCS back to Murfreesboro on a very quiet bus ride. If home field advantage gives us three points, our offense will add another 28 to the scoreboard and the defense will add seven! Did I mention I was optimistic? Good luck @ Wayne Co., pack a light snack for the long trip there.
  20. I'm with @Fayetteville Tigers on this one. Community seems to be struggling on both sides of the ball--giving up a lot of points and not scoring. Here's hoping they don't right the ship this Friday! Fayetteville by 24 at least.
  21. I'd like to know the process of correcting a score. Our game final was 2-12, not 0-12 as posted on their team's and our team's home pages. thanks
