Lots of pluses for MontCo have their region. Reduced travel, chance for higher gates, guarantee of 4 schools playing at least one playoff game.  Downside is the very weak schedule that's played

Honestly, the combined region plus the comeback of middle school football may trigger something positive in that area. I have long believed there could be at least one powerhouse program in Clarksville if it wasn't, well...Clarksville.

Ultimately, the higher-ups In the Montgomery Co Admin have to be willing to let it happen before it ever actually will. A place with that much access to local talent and a thriving community doesn't need much. Even with the transience of being a military base, it's not as hard as they've made it look.

This is not the first time this has been mentioned on here.  Many people believe:

Henry County got away with playing Clarksville-Montgomery County 5A for several years when they should have been playing Williamson County 6A along with Dickson County.  Dickson County was thrown to the wolves those years while Henry County was able to beat up on the sheep.

Sounds like some very specifically sour grapes to me. Oh well. I think the Clarksville schools did the smart thing by teaming up for their own region. HC appears to still be doing just fine in its new one.

HC coach is a good man, but he should be careful about what he says in regards to Southwind having out of zone players. A lot of people know that HC is supposed to be in 6A based off enrollment but is 5A due to some “adjustment” of numbers.

I guess some people believe this fantasy will come true if they say it enough times. But back here in reality, Henry Co has always played where their 9-12 enrollment put them.

There is no difference. When HC gets new non local officials they are cry baby’s.

The coach should be more humble but he is used to house calls.
    shame.
Those kids played hard for him and suddenly after three months it’s blah blah blah Mississippi.

Like is said take the loss.
    you didn’t win.

    Good Luck Southwind.

    Bro, are you okay?

You seem very tensed up after an otherwise pretty chill season of posting, and all over a post where some dude said CryBabies?

I can't speak to coach's postgame comments, those are his, but I am sure most of us Paris folk have taken the loss in stride. SW is a heck of a team, and most of us realize this is just a game lol.

I do believe the winner of this game will win State.

Man, the winner of this game gets a ticket to the semis and that's it. I hope the winner of our game (preferably us) gets to Chattanooga, but there ain't no reason Page or Centennial doesn't deserve the benefit of the doubt after the last 5-10 years. That region is legit.

I played with 5 of the top 10 Henry County players all time in my opinion. These guys started the playoff streak in 2006 under Joe Gaddis. Calvin McNairl- TSU Marsalis Teague- UT Dominique Allen- LSU Lamar Theus- Murray State and William Henry- Bethel. The first three guys were known for offense. Marsalis was a great athlete and the best athlete on the team full of athletes but did not play offense when we played together, and he wasn't even the 1st or 2nd best player on our defense (Henry/Theus). I say that to bring light to how great Marshall is. Marshall is more athletically gifted than all these guys. Has the speed of Teague the strength/size of McNairl, actually a lot bigger. And the hard nose running style like Allen. Here is the kicker the guy might not even play quarterback at the next level. He is just as great on Defense. On defense he is a swiss army knife. He is similar to Henry as he can play anywhere on the defense and offense but is a lot better athlete. Henry could not play corner. Marshall can play anywhere on both sides of the ball outside of the O line and DT. All these guys could play both ways but Caden is better on either side than any of them.

Caden Marshall is without a doubt the best Henry County Football player ever.

Some great names on that list. Sometimes I forget just how stacked those mid-late 2000s teams under Gaddis actually were. Even those next 1-2 years after Teague/Allen still had guys like Shonte Sims, Mac McFerren, Skylar Haley, and Storme Hilliard. Crazy how many athletes came through this little town in that 5-6 year span.

Does anyone besides the brothers from the Bottom wonder how the previous two seasons might have ended if Caden had gotten meaningful snaps in games? Hands down the second best player in school history behind Marsalis Teague?

can anyone tell me how I can watch a replay of the game. the nwtn website doesn't work from any of my devices

    1. A little bit. Ryan Damron was a really good QB, but I am perplexed why we didn't utilize Caden Marshall more on offense, even as a WR/RB/Wildcat. However, nobody in 5A was beating Knox West last year, so it's not something I lose sleep over. The year before was so chaotic I won't even pretend to play the ifs and buts game, although every little bit would've helped in that crazy semifinal game against Page.

    2. I think Teague is the best athlete we've ever had, but Marshall may actually be the better high school quarterback. To me he's unquestionably the better passer, and a very good athlete in his own right.

    3. I've been looking for a replay myself. No luck.

That was an amazing play. I know it’s a regular season award, but last night was a Mr. Football performance if I’ve ever seen one. Baker was incredible, but Marshall’s stat line is insane as well:

    13/19 passing, 217 yards and 3 TDs

    28 carries, 145 yards and 3 TDs

    Two successful 2-point conversions

Nearly 1000 yards of offense between these two teams last night.

EDIT: I did not realize Baker was also a senior until just now looking at his hudl profile. Could’ve sworn I heard during our first matchup that he was still a junior. Heck of a season/career for that young man.

Beech played bad and with no emotion. SW played solid and not very many mistakes. The line play was not anything special. The QB hit a few deep balls and then the Beech defense packed it in. SW was not a physical team but played a very clean and disciplined game. This game was as much Beech losing as it was SW winning. They have a good team but I still don’t think this is a great team.

That said, hats off to SW on a good win. Very disciplined and clean.

Dude, it's okay to say it. Southwind is legit. It's easy to write them off as just another 5A Memphis team that cruised through region 8, but the facts are that we have 4 common opponents with them, and other than Ridgeway (whom we both shut out), they have out performed us against every one of them.

I am greatly appreciative of our homefield advantage next week, but Southwind still has a very decent chance of going to the semis.

  10. Props to Hendersonville on a phenomenal game. It's a shame somebody had to lose this one. Pretty incredible defensive stand at the goal line, and then the ensuing offensive drive was legendary.

I try not to be hyperbolic or too 'in the moment', but I will say, two of the very best HC games I've ever seen have both taken place this season between tonight and Oct 6 at Beech. Very proud of our guys for finding a way to dig down and come out on top.

And I can't say enough about Caden Marshall and Mason Baker. Those are some dudes.

    R7 wins 3 out of 4

Closer for comfort than Hendersonville would've liked I'm sure, but they got it done. We get them in Patriot Stadium again next week. Rematches against good teams always make me nervous. And Southwind vs. Beech is legitimately intriguing. Round 2 will be very interesting for Region 7.

Southwind  was better than the Jackets tonight but we helped A LOT with 5 TOs

We couldn't score. I bet we had less than 100 yards total offense for the game.  We were flat and this was no team to be flat against. I will be interested in seeing them against Beech.

For the record the officials weren't a factor

Down year for you guys, but I know the Jackets will be back.
