  1. I have a solution to all problems referee. In the age of technology it would be simple. The TSSAA with all their money could have this in place in less than a month.

I think its a good idea in theory but wouldn't work in practice. As a neutral observer of many games, I have noticed that most people have a problem with every official and 90% the losing team thinks the officials caused them to lose the game.

  2. How do they pick officials to officiate state tournament games? The older official that looks like he is in pretty good shape asked a Liberty player, during Bolivar vs. Liberty earlier this year for a doctors note, and said if he didn't have one that he could not wear knee brace. What the? Is this in the rules? He also called 5 seconds on an inbound play raised his hand and signaled this....... and then gave Bolivar a timeout......when questioned he stated and I quote "I knew that he (coach Rudesil) was going to call a timeout". And he made some terrible calls at the boys state tournament also. I also notice they call travel, when there is no travel violation, is the game that much slower in Middle and East TN?

That is a rule although it is seldom applied.

  3. Humbodlt and 5 teams from Memphis, and 4 of the Memphis teams played in the finals. Humboldt and Memphis are the furthest places among all this year's participants. That should be pretty easy to figure out.

When Bartlett used to play in the state tournament, they brought a crowd. Science Hill and Dobyns Bennet and the schools from the Tri-Cities area always bring crowds. Don't blame the distance.

  4. Speaking as a uninterested, TSSAA patch-wearing spectator of the Humboldt-Manassas game, all the charges were spot on. Manassas would set up for at least 2 seconds and would be promptly run over. The officials did a great job of in that game. It was good to see a Region 3 official out there making his association look good.

  5. 2002-2003 was not the only year grace had a losing season vs. us....

No, but it was the only losing season Grace had in that stretch of time.

You are not very smart--The Win Loss I was giving was since the start of the new millennium, the 2000-2001 season is the first SEASON, in the new millennium 1999-2000 is the last season of the 90's....but if you really want to keep going back...I guarantee We were killing ya'll year after year during Josh Templeton and Gabe's years...

Actually, the true first season of new millennium would have been 2001-2002 since the year 2000 and 2001 are apart of different millennia.

but I was speaking of this Millenium... THAT is the logic I was using...what were you using??? A Grace education..hahahaha (sorry that was a cheap shot)

Are you serious? How many National Merit Finalists did you graduate with? Of the twenty-eight people in my grqaduating class there were two. I won't go into how many future doctors, lawyers, and engineers are in that bunch either. (You shouldn't capitalize "millenium" or spell it that way.)

  6. If you are talking about 1999-2000 maybe- we were like 15-17 that year but in the 2000-2001 season temple was 24-7 and beat grace all three times... we played them

Well, can we throw out 2002-2003 as well? Grace had a losing season. Is that the logic you're using?

  7. I figured Temple fans were whistling in the wind. Grace wins 66-59. Grace's defense was just smothering.

Let's include the year 2000 in the rivalry. It's now 21-10. You tell me, rivalry? You owned a four-year period. Saying it's not a rivalry is like saying you beat someone by eleven and calling it a "blowout". How many OT games were there? Don't act like Temple doesn't think it's a rivalry. It is and will be. The games are close and exciting. Is that too tough to swallow?

Dadoffour, before you come down hard on Eaglemaniac, remember that you too tried to predict the outcome:

I think you're right. Temple has gotten better since the first game against Grace in January 11. They proved to themselves that they can play with the best in the region last week at CSAS. They will have their first strong student section of the year, and will feed off it.

Sorry Grace. No way you win at Vance this year.

    Take it back... or don't.

  8. Everyone one is talking like these kids need the time to practice so that they can get a scholarship. Well, that would be nice. I'd be tickled pink to set beside my kid as he or she signed with a college to play ball somewhere. But, for me, sports for my kids has been about more then hoping for a scholarship. First of all, it has been what my kids have wanted to do. I admit it. I spoil my kids. But then we all try to as much as we can. Thankfully, I have been fortunate enough to be able to afford the cost and time of my kids playing on some travel teams. One is eat up with it, and one will go if there's nothing else to do. Second, I no longer farm, raise cattle, cut fire wood, mend fences, haul hay, or have chores for the kids to do to keep them busy and out of trouble, so sports have filled their time and kept them focused on a goal. Third, the work/rewards in sports has given them a work ethic that I believe will translate to what ever path they choose. And forth, the desire to be on a team motivates them to keep their grades up so that they can. There has been lots of money, time, blood and tears involved in sports. One ACL. Two Bi-lateral Tibia radi (I think that was what the orthopedic called it) Countless skinned knees and hurt feelings. But, countless hours as a family travelling, working, living, and growing together. My time for all this is just about over, and in a few short years I'll be setting alone remembering the good times that we had as a family. THIS is the reason that I would hate to see the TSSAA limit what we can do or who we can do it with. And while they haven't banned it yet. That seems to be the direction that they are heading.

    Ditto. Word to your mother.

  9. Baseball is not on the baskburner here. There are facilities that allow kids to hit and pitch all year round wit hinstruction from a coach or professional. People spend big $$$'s and time on baseball. Many kids travel alot during the summer for baseball. Not many facilities where kids can go shoot or dribble with instruction. I wish I knew of one in West TN. No athletes are not the only ones worth saving. How many kids would show up to an open school during the summer? Not many. The ones that would show would be the ones that don't really need it. Then the schools would be getting critized for making the school year to long. Outside of team camp summer practice can be voluntary, just let the kids that want ot be coached have the opportunity.

Do they not have basketball courts in West TN???
