  1. Barney,I've never felt closer to you.
  2. Ok, Last night I did some investigating of my own and I heard from two different sources that they are in talks with a good coach that has coached at WB in the last 15 or so years and it isn't Meadows. I didn't directly name the guy but that oughta make it pretty easy to figure out.
  3. I've actually just been told who it will be by 2 good sources. I'm pleased
  4. Well like I said I don't know if that is the case or not, that's just the impression I got from my interaction with the booster president. I just know I never got another response after I told them I don't have a kid on the team. I'm not going to lose sleep or make any noise about it. If they don't want my money, i'm not going to complain. I go to all the games, spend money on concessions, and buy the occasional t-shirt as it is.
  5. Well I don't know if that's what the deal is at WB or not. I just know I was corresponding with the booster president and they seemed really enthusiastic about having a new member. Then they asked me who my son was and then I never heard anything back from them and just assumed they just wanted parents.
  6. I have alot of insight on what goes on friday nights because i'm always there. However I do not have much insight on what goes on at practice or in the locker room. I couldn't tell you how many players we have working out right now or if we have any new transfers in or if any kids have moved or quit, I don't know anything until spring. I tried to get involved in the booster club last year. I was corresponding with the booster president and they asked me who my son was and I told them that I do not have a son, i'm just a guy that went to school there and follows the team and they never wrote me back. I guess they just want parents of players? I don't know...... I guess they don't want my money, time,or resources. Their loss I guess. So yeah i'm out of the loop unless we are talking about what happens on friday nights. But if I know something i'll always tell it here. I don't see the problem in telling anything here. Heck, everyone else does it. That's what message boards are for, discussion. No harm in telling what you heard.
  7. I do but I get frustrated when the only thing everyone wants to do is be goofy 24/7. I look at other teams threads and the people are having serious discussions about their respective teams. They talk about practice,work-outs, new transfers. Basically everything you'd want to know in the off-season. And here on the WB thread everyone is talking nonsense and making up stories. I'm all for silliness... But i'd like to be able to take all of you seriously too.
  8. I don't really have any connections to the school anymore. I'm just a guy that went to school there and is a fan of the football team and go to all the games. I do not have any siblings or cousins that play, I do not have any family on the coaching staffs of any of the teams, and i'm not on the booster club. So needless to say I don't really know what goes on behind the scenes. I joined this site because I thought I might get some good info to keep me in the loop on what's going on at WB. I haven't really gotten a whole lot of that. It just seems there's a bunch of grown up children that want to argue with you and play games. They know it all and will tell you that you are wrong about everything but won't tell you what they know or why they are right.
  9. Barney,I also asked some people at the basketball game I went to last month and they just looked at me like I was crazy or something. And when I spoke to Ridge that night I asked him about spring practice and what he thought about the new region and the way he talked didn't give me any indication that he was done coaching football. As far as i'm concerned the people on here are just bored and trying to stir up stuff for the heck of it. Maybe we'll be proven wrong but I doubt it.
  10. Drop the nonsense you guys. Are you in middle school or something?
  11. Barney, I believe there may be some truth to this or there was at one point. I know that O&B kind of started it all back before the 2014 season even ended. He said that Ridge got what he wanted when he became the AD and wanted to find a replacement coach. I believe that O&B was telling the truth on that but I take everything else I read on here with a grain of salt.
  12. That would make sense. We don't have spring practice until the end of April anyways, atleast that's what Ridge told me when I asked him at a basketball game last month. But why do some people keep acting like an announcement will happen any day now and some have said it will be next week, the week after next etc. Who really knows what they are talking about? Because there's been alot of conflicting stories being put out just in this thread.
  13. Assuming what you are saying is true what's the hold up? Why won't anyone say anything? And why do people keep saying it will be announced after basketball season? None of this makes any sense.
  14. Barney, What do you have to say about all of this?
  15. I'll agree that there are some serious problems with the education system and society as a whole. We value a piece of paper over hands on training and experience. My uncle works at a big company in Knoxville and makes good money doing it. He tells me he could train me to do his job in a day but the company wouldn't touch me unless I had a bachelors degree in a science like chemistry. He also says they hire these younger kids with college degrees and put them in management positions and they don't have a clue what they are doing. So I know what you are talking about. There needs to be more balance in society. We need to value formal education and good ole hands on experience.
  16. My point is you've got two basic types of people in this world, practical thinkers and abstract thinkers. Practical thinkers are mainly concerned with what they can see, smell, hear, and touch and they may not be book smart but they make up for it in what you call common sense. Abstract thinkers are the dreamers and intellectuals and they are always in their heads thinking of new concepts and possibilities. They live in their heads so much that their practical thinking/skills may suffer. If you'll notice these two types of people are always butting heads with one another but the funny thing is the two types compliment each other even if they can't stand each other. We wouldn't be where we are today and wouldn't have made this much progress if we didn't have both types of people.
  17. nah, I was being serious. What you said "the smartest people can have trouble with the simplest things" matches the profile of someone with high functioning autism. You know Einstein, he's one of the brightest minds in recent history. Well did you ever hear about the time he got lost in NYC and sat down on a bench and cried because he couldn't find his way? The smartest people do indeed have trouble with the simplest things sometimes because their minds are different. It's a blessing in the sense that they have great knowledge to share but it's a curse in the sense that they can't relate to others as well because of those differences. They aren't any better or any worse than anyone else, they are just different. I know this because I have high functioning autism/aspergers.
  18. Maybe they have high functioning autism/aspergers.
  19. It's official. You guys are messing with me. Haha very funny.
  20. Well no shiz.... The Govs are in 6A and will automatically be in the playoffs no matter what.
  21. I hear he sweats to the oldies and lives an alternative lifestyle. Hint Hint, it's Richard Simmons.
  22. SX,I watched Campbell County play South Doyle and I saw them throwing some quick slants and alot of screens and stuff. You mentioned that they were throwing to wide open targets which is very true. But.... WB had wide open guys all year and we were stilling throwing it to Joel Graham in the corner of the endzone or along the sidelines in double coverage. That's not a knock on Graham, he made alot of great plays and was critical in all of the games we won. Having said that there was no excuse for putting it all on him to make plays when we had other guys who were wide open and perfectly capable of making plays. I know for a fact that we have one good receiver who was constantly wide open and didn't have a touchdown catch all year and hardly caught any passes for that matter. It's because they weren't throwing it to him. You could blame this on the QB but at some point the coaches have got to see this happening on film and correct it, that didn't happen. I don't see the use in having guys out on the field if you aren't going to utilize them. I watched OR's game with Rhea Co in the playoffs and one thing I noticed was how they seemed to get lots of guys involved on offense. They were actually throwing the ball to guys not named Tee Higgins and a few different guys were getting carries. That told me that they have coaches that trust their players and players that trust each other. I don't think there's been much of that at WB in a long time.
  23. You ain't right boy... You ain't right...
  24. Verbal flatulence. That's what this thread's full of.
