  1. It was a very winnable game. We shut down their offense after a strong 1st quarter and tied it up 14-14 and then didn't score another point and lost 17-14. We had multiple drives deep into their territory and threw multiple interceptions.
  2. Actually they beat us in the 2019 playoffs when we went up there, but we beat them in the 2016 regular season. You're right about having to do it on the field. There's a big difference between having the ability to beat someone and actually going out and doing it. UT's performance against Pitt is a great example of that.
  3. I think West Ridge and Sevier County are winnable games. And why not? We beat Sevier County last year and West Ridge is a brand new school and from the sounds of it they are having a lot of the same issues we are having in terms of being sloppy and commiting a lot of penalties and turnovers. Plus they have to get on buses and make a 2.5 trip down here. A lot of times kids don't respond well to that. It can be hard to come that far on a bus and get off ready to play. We almost upset Elizabethton when they came down here a few years ago and I think that was a big part of it. Finally, why is a DB fan so concerned with my take on which games are winnable?
  4. This will be us WB fans after reality sets in on the ride home this Friday.
  5. This one probably won't be remotely close. Science Hill usually has a lot of offensive firepower and we haven't shown any ability to stop a decent offense yet. We also can't seem to get out of our own way on offense. This is a game to experiment and work on some things before we return home for a stretch of winnable games. We have to find a way to finish drives and stop turning the dam ball over. I've been saying the last part since I first logged onto Facebook back in 2012. It's been almost a decade. Some things never change.
  6. The words of the day at William Blount are lesbian and beaver . After the game last night Shad told the team that we have a long trip to Johnson City next Friday so lesbian the bus by 3:30 so we can beaver by 6:00.
  7. They are talented kids and I blame the coaches for their deficiencies. I remember when we first saw the older brother step in against Ooltewah back in 2017. He was raw and young, but you could see potential there. He could string together a lot of really nice passes, but then he would throw an absolute duck into double or triple coverage and get picked off. We saw that until he graduated and now we are seeing it again. That's coaching. With good coaching, your players should be improving every year and not staying at the same level they were at as freshmen and sophomores.
  8. Yep we left about 30 points on the field. Our QB play has been very questionable. You can't win games turning the ball over 3 or more times every game. Tonight our qb threw multiple interceptions and got strip sacked. I kept thinking I was seeing Guarantano 2.0 when I was watching the stream tonight. At some point we have to make a change even if that means moving a receiver over to QB or something. If you can't get reliable and accurate passing you might as well have a good athlete back there who can make plays with the ball in his hands.
  9. William Blount is leading 14-0, but should be up 28-0. Turnovers are an issue again tonight, but luckily Heritage hasn't been able to make us pay for turning the football over.
  10. I think the QB was trying to force plays and that's when bad stuff happens. It's better to throw it away and use up a play than it is to throw an interception.
  11. The Saturday word of the day is Urine. After last night's loss Shad told the team "Urine control of whether you beat Heritage next week or not."
  12. The defense played a lot better. Now we know we can tackle and make stops, so there's no excuse if we go back to arm tackling and giving up a ton of big plays.
  13. The Govs should get off the schneid and win in a big way next week.
  14. I'm disappointed that we lost, but I thought the team put forth a much better effort. I actually saw a few nice tackles tonight.
  15. Lol. The word of the night took some of the sting out of a tough loss.
  16. I have gotten back into the Kool-Aid. The Govs will get off the schneid tonight.
  17. How do you figure this team is the most talented? WB has had more good players than people think because we are poorly coached. Franklin was as good as any back we've had since I've been watching WB games. The starting back for Greeneville is very similar to him and Greeneville is one of the best programs in the state. They just have a really good line and we have a line that lets our backs get hit in the backfield every play.
  18. Barney, You don't make a lick of sense. You have criticized Shad's coaching over and over and now you make it sound like he would be a big success if he got more money. Meadows succeeded with what we had. And don't say he just had so much more talent. That 07 team was really talented, but Meadows could have consistently won at least 5 games with the rosters Shad has had. Let's talk about Shad's play calling. Run, run, pass. It's boring and unimaginative. That plus a poorly developed line isn't going to win many football games. Our line play is awful. We are without a doubt the weakest team in 6A and I haven't seen more than half of the 6A teams play. Forget all the excuses that we could make for that. I'm not saying we should be Oakland or Alcoa on the o-line, but we ought to be able to patch together a line that can compete with freaking Karns. We have boys with the right frames. Why can't our coaches coach them up? Maryville is always good on the line. Why is that? Are the boys inside the city limits just born better football players or does Maryville have the coaching to produce linemen that perform at a high level every year? Why did Meadows always have pretty good lines at WB? It's coaching....
  19. But I think most running backs want a line that can block enough so that they aren't getting hit in the backfield every play. Our line development is non-existent right now. That's just a fact. If Shad "retires," I hope we bring in a coach that knows how to develop linemen.
  20. The word of the day at William Blount is Enema. Shad walked into the school today and told Mr. Cupp "I saw us beat Jeff County enema dreams."
