  1. So, normally we don't but it is well known your band does and you got what you give. As for the 21 and ...look, if we played perfect you don't score and we score every play. No one plays perfect, you are how you play..what else is there???
  2. "We started off hot as a Firecracker... First Offensive Play, Deep pass TD (like we did MJ in 2011)... Defensive 3 and Out... Next possession #3 broke a long run on like the 2nd or 3rd play of the drive, TD... Another Defensive 3 and Out (I believe, I had the Spirits before the game) ... The next possession we were DRIVING and then the flags started ... The Flags should be expected but I HATE what it does to OUR rhythm! After the Beautiful Rhythm was broken, offensively we started making mistakes (turnovers, untimely penalties)... We had a muffed punt where we practically GAVE Arlington a TD... Arlington then actually had a decent drive and before you knew it a game that was Honestly on the verge of a 21 point plus BLOW OUT is a 14 all tie game! People need to listen when I speak. I don't want credit. I want US to win! Skill Players that wear SLEEVES have to pull them junts UP to their ELBOW!!! Jordan Williams mishandled a Shotgun Snap that I'm sure he could have caught with ease had his Big #### sleeves not been on his forearms... As I digress, Sloppy play by us made this game close. Da Haven was 3 TDs better but the Suburban Tigers were scrappy and had confidence after we had Snatched it from them at the start of the game... Either way, On to the next one. " Yeah, first good game. Second, for all your trash talk, I bet you weren't smiling as we were driving to tie late in the 4th. 3 Tds is a joke...you know it and so do I. As far as those TOs in the 1st qtr..they amounted to nothing more than field position. We scored in the 2nd qtr 14 straight to tie the game and also scored 14 in the 2nd half. As for the flags, don't get me started. They held enough flags in that 1st qtr to cover 2 games. I make no excuses, we lost, but don't think this was our best performance of the year...it wasn't ...we made a ton of mistakes and paid for them. These teams were at about the same level.....I hope we get to play home and home soon...long term..yep, be fun to watch..good luck, I hope you guys win it all.
  3. I will be there as well, hopefully we are competitive. Good luck.
  4. First, I don't work for the team. Second, if there was some bias against Whitehaven, why would we schedule a practice game? Practice game environment is much more personal than an official game. How do you know they haven't talked about it? It is my understanding, there is a good relationship there. Oakland was scheduled for competing in middle TN, because that is where ARlington has been sent in years past. Both schools needed games, the relationship..etc. It appears this will solve itself with the "super 32" talk. Hey, I would love to see them play every year. Whitehaven has a great program, competition makes us all better. BTW, i enjoy reading most of your posts as well. I like your passion for the program, and I can relate to that. Football has an incredible way for bringing people together, quite possibly it's best quality.
  5. I know we played once probably 3 years ago, Reed's junior year. As far as crowd, I hope we will fill up the stands, but IDK...the weather probably will have an effect. Arlington has been a competitive team most weeks this year, the QB has been part of it. Hopefully, we can be competitive this week. I really appreciate your posts and the game contest, i enjoy reading the picks and posts. Thanks for giving Memphis a place on this board. Good luck.
  6. Yep, I was there. I saw several unsportsmanlike and personal foul calls as the game turned. Sorry i couldn't hear what was being said on the field, but I didn't see too much complaining about it. Those type of penalties add up fast, but not calling them leads to things getting out of hand. "The box score may show" hmmmm, not sure how to respond to that. You must be a jokester. This is why I post very seldom, because of zealots, Johnny's dad type, crazy youngsters...and just straight up haters. Let me say this, I have personally seen Oakland get their share of calls. Coming on here making people think Arlington gets all the calls, because you watched one game is a joke. Go look the box scores up there yourself, I got no reason to, because I have watched around 90-100 Arlington games. All teams commit penalties, especially holding offensive and defensive. Some teams seem to get away with more or less. The more successful a program becomes the more calls they seem to get, IMO. I have a lot of respect for Coach McDaniels and his family. He and his brother are former Panthers like my brother and i. I personally know his parents and brother...they are great people. Oakland has a great team and a great coaching staff. Good luck to them.
  7. Wow, interesting comment, especailly considering the refereeing at your home stadium ( the two or is it 3 games i attended). I have seen Arlington play just about every varsity game in their history and one thing I can say with certainty, the referees have not favored them. I personally think Arlington is lucky to get an even called game, until last few years. As far as last week's game, Arlington was lucky to win the game. The PI call was legit though. Arlington had over 10+ penalties for over 100+yards of penalties against them last week, definately did not get preferential treatment. Houston is a tough, talented, and well coached team, and Arlington was lucky to advance. Whitehaven is an incredible program. They field talented, tough well coached teams every year...incredible tradition.
  8. No, I wasn't trying to be sly. I was just trying to show respect to Cordova. If someone was to just read the "players not playing part", they might conclude I was making excuses or implying something negative about their team. Which I was not. I do think Cordova has talent, is underrated and it would have been a tough game regardless. When I was typing, I honestly was not thinking about them playing WHS. Your history, strength of your program and the recent Gold Ball in the trophy case says more than any compliment I could give. Good luck to you both.
  9. It is true Arlington had 20 players or so not allowed to play in the Cordova game. Two players were held out of the 1st half. Arlington has quality depth, and needed it. They also had several freshman get some quality time. Cordova, IMO, played very well, are talented and I think they have a chance to shake up quad 4. I don't have anything to pass on about why they were not allowed to play. I understand the interest, but I don't know the facts, haven't asked, and I am not going to...not my business. I am just a fan, I do not work for the team or school.
  10. "Arlington is in a weak district. "Higher seed" frequently doesn't mean a lot....." This seems to be implying Arlington was weak, because their district IYO is, but if you say not, ok, you wrote it. Where did I question seeding? That is just common sense.
  11. I disagree, weak is relative to what? AHS beat Oakland last year, and lost their starting QB in the 5th game to a collarbone. He was a 3yr starter, who lead the metro or was in the top 2 or 3 every year. I believe he led the metro in passing last year even though he only played 4.5 games last year. Different team without him. I thought we were beyond comparing districts based on past performances, every year can be and often is different. Look at Oakland this year vs last. Is that because of the district or in spite of it?I watched them whoop AHS 39-0 and saw us beat them by 10 in a game that frankly wasn't that close last year. Oakland Is no doubt stronger this year than last and will give anyone a tough game including Maryville. I would not be surprised if they win it all, they are that good and yet lost 5 or so last year. The difference IMO between last and this year is their team is better, not that their district is weaker.
  12. Arlington had lost their 3year starting QB in the 5 th game last year (collarbone). They were able to hang on to get to the playoffs, and were hoping to get their starter back for the Overton game. However, the doctors did not clear him until the week after the playoff loss. Overton just had too much for AHS that night. Overton was definitely one of the most talented teams AHS played last year and based on their record seems to have gotten even better.
  13. Below reported by the Commerical Appeal: "Former Arlington High quarterback Drew Reed has been named the Patriot League's offensive player of the week and rookie of the week after a record-tying performance for Lafayette on Saturday. The true freshman -- who was making his first career start -- completed 21 of 22 passes for 283 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-23 victory over Holy Cross. He tied the league record with 20 straight completions, set just two weeks ago by Fordham quarterback Mike Nebrich. In his last two games, the 6-0, 185-pounder is 38 of 44 with seven touchdowns to lead his team to a 2-0 start in league." I wanted to post this because its a good story of a Tennessee kid who overcame a senior year 5 th game broken collarbone injury. A little over a year later, after an injury to the starter and with the backup struggling, he got inserted in the 3rd quarter of the Harvard game and went 17/22 for 235 yards and 2tds with 1 int. The coaching staff had the confidence in the true freshman to start him the following week, with a 1-5 team to face Holy Cross. Reed answered the call with 21/22 for 283 yards, 5 tds and 0 ints for a 41-26 win. He is now 38/44 for 518 yards, 7 tds and 1 int in a little less than 6 quarters. In the Holy Cross game, his 2nd pass was incomplete, but he then completed the next 20 for a Patriot League record for consecutive completions. This hopefully will be inspiration for other young men, who have been overlooked and looked down on as not able to perform at the next level. Reed was overlooked and told he couldn't help them by local schools, some of whom are 1-5 themselves. Granted the Patriot League is not the SEC, but some these recruiters for local schools are definitely not the countries' best evaluators. Remember that Johnny Manziel only had 10 offers, one of which was the University of San Antonio and was not offered by Texas nor any SEC school. I personally hope others will post updates on graduated players that we have all watched play, it is nice to see them move on and represent Tennessee football well. Note: (And just in case someone says Texas AM is a SEC school, Manziel was offered and signed by the staff before Sumlin and before they started in the SEC. He was redshirted.)
