  1. The more and more divisions we have , I think it gets watered down. Back in the days of 3 divisions and the pivates played with the public was much more brutal. Imagine say 2024, Macon was in the old AA and played teams from Giles County sized up to Page's size .......including private schools like BGA and CPA. Not to mention Alcoa would have been in AA in a 3 divsion format. You have to look at that when judging teams of the past.
  2. 1. Alcoa 2. Springfield 3. UHS/Pearl 5. Greenville/Anderson 7. Haywood 8. Melrose 9. Dekalb 10. Marshall
  3. I'm no gatekeeper of anything. I do see my fair share of teams play over a vast area, not simply the team I follow and thier opposition. Some people don't like to hear straight talk, and that's fine with me. We are all entitled to an opinion, and entitled to be called out on it. I remember the days around 2008-10 saying UHS was the next big thing in sports. Also saying if Macon could ever hire a quality coach, which they did, and keep politics out of the program...they also can compete on the big stage like other good programs. Most of the Smith County, Trousdale County, Cookeville folks and futher would snickered at those prospects. Looks like it's come full circle.
  4. If they can sustain it better than after the 2005 great team, build on it. I say maybe 7-3 next season then back near top in 2026 once Chaffin is gone. Carlise at QB, Greer at RB will be a tough combo. Shoulders needs to keep bring kids in, legally, and keep the momentum going.
  5. 10-5 2005 LA, 2013-2018 UHS 14-1 in division with Alcoa, 2024 13-2 Macon...were all good and near the best ever.
  6. Yes because Macon put out UHS that was a bad match up for White Co.
  7. I doubt Melrose could finish in top 3 maybe 4 in our district. I shocked how undisciplined and aweful they look.
  8. Ball game. Melrose way to undisciplined to be a championship team.
  9. Melrose maybe the most undisciplined I have seen in a long time.
  10. Negative. He threw the ball to wide open wrs running alone. All the had to do is run under it and ctach it. Go watch York's hudl. Everyone was scared to death of York's running ability. Just go to his X account and see who all is recruiting him. Offered by EKU, MTSU....being recruited by James Madison, Ole Miss, Coastal Carolina, Memphis, Louisville, Western KY, TTU, Georgia State, Northern Ky....they can't all be wrong.
  11. Last thing I will say on it. The Borders twins and team beat UHS finally. Fact. Just like 2016-2018 UHS teams beat MC. And yea Metzgar and McAllester were great highschool players for Upperman on those teams, but they were not as talented or as good as Macon's Carlise. Numbers, the two for UHS, yea maybe, talent no way. That's how I see Chaffin being compared to the twins.
  12. Alcoa had reserves in early that game. So there is that. I loved York at QB. But he was basically a taller faster Gabe Borders playing qb. Instantly swapped to slot wr and told to gain 20 pounds at ETSU.
  13. I didn't say ever. Never did. We were talking about specific comparisons with a handful of athletes. Best qb from around here played at L.A. in the early eighties
  14. As far as the game, I am thinking Macon 21 Melrose 20. Only seeing a few games on film of Melrose, so just may best guess
  15. More accurate , maybe. Ability to throw 60 yards flat footed at 15...nope. Just ask the coaches at the camps he attends, freak athlete
