  1. I know where you're coming from Stealer and I wouldn't argue that Trapp is the BEST Xs and Os coach in the world but he is very good at some things like: motivating, game planning, evaluating talent, "coaching kids up", "recruiting" and "game time adjustments". (Oh yeah. I almost forgot "watering down the field" and "making sure we get the train whistle (it ain't no horn!!) snuck into every game". LMAO). Although, he seems to have "brain farts" on occasion with his play calling (especially at the end of the game) and clock management (Trousedale County). I wouldn't say he can't win the big game, because I have seen EVERY game he has coached and he has won the "big game" several times, including the only play off wins in school history. (I would also say beating Smith County last year was a big win.) Not to mention, when you take a program that has only won a few games in several years to a perennial playoff team, every game is a "big game". He is certainly the best football coach we have ever had. By far!! And I would hate to lose him. Go Tigers!
  2. Thanks Scooter. Here's my prediction. We will win this one in a shoutout. But. Only because: DC will win the turnover battle with a +2 (or 3) Milan will rumble for 300+ yards. Jennings will run for close to 100 yards. (With 2 or 3 20• yard runs.) Jennings will throw for 200+ yards. Gill will have the game of his career. The defensive line will have 5+ sacks. ALL that could happen. Right? :)
  3. Actually, I think it was about 30 seconds later when UHS went up 14-0 after recovering the Kick Off Return fumble. Classic sign of a young team... they lost all their confidence after that second TD. Don't get me wrong, if it would have been against a lesser team (or at least a team that wasn't undefeated), I think they would have been fine. Although, they knew what they were up against coming in and after those two disasters in a row, it definitely killed their confidence. It must be said too that Baxter had an excellent defensive game plan to start the game, the pressure on Jennings was relentless. Trapp did adjust on the third series and kept two backs in to block, but by that time our QB was already "rattled" (once again, "classic sign of youth"). I know it wouldn't have made much of a difference, because we couldn't slow down, much less stop York, but it did seem Milan wasn't anywhere near 100%. He carried the ball on the first play from scrimmage, but unless I missed a play or two, he didn't touch it again until late in the 2nd or even the 3rd quarter and we were already down 4-5 TDs. Like I said, we couldn't stop York anyway, but we may have at least looked like we belonged on the same field. (Because, we didn't look that way tonight....)
  4. Its best to not even reply to, or acknowledge that tool. Trolls will troll and that is all he is.
  5. I never thought you were. I WAS replying to your comment about "best player", but my second paragraph was directed toward sdj38544. That is why I put them in two separate paragraphs. Nice win tonight, by the way, MC almost snuck back up on us last week too.
  6. No offense, but you are wrong. You may be referring to a couple of my posts, but I never said that. I just questioned "how" "best player" and "MVP" are determined by some people. For me, it's more about the "eye test" (more than their stats, anyway). With that being said (as I posted earlier) my eyes told me tonight that York IS the best player in the district and a strong Mr Football candidate. He's the best player I have SEEN play since Poteete. If I am wrong, find me a post that says otherwise and I will gladly eat some proverbial crow. Good luck to those young men the rest of the way. Do district 8AA proud!
  7. I don't think there is one single post by any DC fan on here claiming any DC player is the best player in the district. I know you Baxter guys aren't used to winning and some of you don't know how to act, so go ahead and run that mouth and enjoy this ride. You've sure got one heck of a team, this year. But, next year you will be back in the cellar, crying and whining.
  8. 6th TD for York, early in the 4th. He is certainly the best player in the district AND the MVP. Looks like a strong Mr. Football favorite to me, too. He's the best player I've seen since Poteete. Bees, if y'all play like this the rest of the year (ESPECIALLY the Defense) I expect to see y'all playing Alcoa at the end of the year and giving them all they want. I'm very jealous, I hope your fans realize what they've got. A very special team. We've got some work to do before going to Smith County.....
  9. MVP and "best player" don't mean the same thing. Connor very well could be the best player and the most "valuable". As I said, I haven't seen him play this year. I was simply saying, stats don't mean everything. Especially when teams can have greatly different schedules. Just because an undefeated WAC team in college football that averages 60 points a game has the best "stats", that doesn't mean they are better than a 1 or 2 loss SEC teams that only scores 30 points a game. Who's the best baseball player? Willie Mays? Barry Bonds? Ted Williams? I say Babe Ruth. Why? Because he won over 200 games as a pitcher, then hit 600 home runs as a slugger. Who's the best QB? Joe Montana? (Many, many, QBs had better stats than him.) Dan Marino? (Has most of the records, or did until our boy Peyton arrived, but no Super Bowls.) Tom Brady? (Has some impressive stats years, but didn't win a Super Bowl his best years.). Heck, even right here in High School Football in the state of Tennessee, it was only a few years ago that Poteete lost the Mr Football award to the Webb kid from David Lipscomb and Poteete had MUCH better stats. Anyway. This topic is always "fun" to debate, because it's very subjective. Either way, we all agree both kids are tremendous athletes and mean a lot to each of their teams. Friday night could turn out to be a great game! I sure hope so.
  10. Your logic is pretty flawed. What are you basing "best player" in district? Just stats? Did you realize Milan missed 2 and a half games this year? How many plays has Connor made on defense? Milan has made quite a few. He is arguably our 2nd or 3rd best defensive player. Some nights he has been our best defensive player. Trapp is a gunslinger. He likes to run the spread and he likes to throw the ball. This is off the top of me head but I think Milan has only had 20 carries in 1 game this year. I would guess he averages about 10-12 carries per game. I firmly believe the kid would be averaging 200-250 yards per game this year if we ran a run oriented offense. I personally don't know who's better, because I haven't seen Connor play this year. But when you place too much emphasis on stays that can get you into trouble. For instance, last year if you compare the DC QB Phillips with the LA QB McCoin, it would appear Phillips was significantly better. Although, after seeing them play head to head last year (twice at the end of the year) , it was obvious to me that McCoin was the better player. Certainly, I love Phillios and you won't find a better kid so I hate to say that but McCoin reminded me of Poteete (and probably Connor). Any if them could score on any play. With their arm or legs! So, stats don't always tell the whole story. But I agree that generally they are a pretty good indication.
  11. That's a BIG "depending", UCM! I want to believe that we are not only talented enough to play with UHS, but also that history will be a major factor too. (It's difficult to remember all those district streaks, because of those years we spent in the the other District before the realignment into 3 regular season classifications, but I believe it has been a while since we lost to UHS.) Similar to the way I felt about SC last year (but in reverse, of course) but we finally got that monkey off our back. Now, let's hope UHS continues to carry that monkey around another few years. Go Tigers!
  12. OMG! My apologies. You are absolutely correct. I thought you were Inappropriate210 (I was using my phone when I wrote that or I would have noticed it wasn't the "Murphy Fair" Icon he uses.) Any DC fan that was at that game will be "butthurt" for weeks to come. After being told all week you don't have a chance, then DOMINATING the game for 2 and a half quarters, it was a tough pill to swallow. With that being said, I don't understand your karma reference? How did Karma play a part in a game that we were supposed to get blown out in? It's good to know Inappropriate210 STILL hasn't contributed anything to the forums. I was more "butthurt" by the fear that he had broken his perfect string of useless posts by actually posting something funny. The streak continues! Go Tigers!
  13. DON'T encourage this tool. He contributes NOTHING. Heck, after his dozens of attempts, eventually he was bound to write something half way funny. Seriously. The field did look slick. I noticed Milan and Jennings both slip when I thought they were taking it to the house or at least for a long gain. Milan even slipped on that last 4th and 1 that would have probably won the game for us or at least put it in OT. (I noted it in my "play by play".) It's just an excuse anyway. What if it had been raining? Back to my point... don't encourage this tool. He is the true definition of a "troll". Every post he makes is just an attempt to get a reaction. So, don't fall for it.
  14. In the end, we lost the game. No doubt about it. (You can read my "almost" play by play in the "Early predictions for 8-AA 2013" thread.) But, there sure are ALOT of folks in this thread looking very foolish and eating a lot of crow after the battle I just witnessed. (Especially the trolling tool Inappropriate210, who appears to have had some kind of "weird joy" in taking every chance he could this week to talk about how bad TC was going to win this game.) I like our chances the rest if the year. We may lose to SC (I don't think so) and UHS (wish we had them in DC) but I feel much better about our chances of running the table tonight than I did yesterday. Congrats to both teams and thank you for giving the fans a great game and leaving every ounce you had on that field tonight.
  15. Yeah. And like i said. I dont blame Trapp at all. He could have thought here's our chance to catch them off guard and win outright. We're the underdog, expected to lose and this isn't a district game. Because after all. Even in OT. We would still have to win the game. Perhaps he thought our chances were better trying to hit one of those passes vs going into overtime. Considering momentum, lack of team experience. Etc etc. The sky's the limit for this team the next few years. I believe we have a chance to contend for a state title a couple of those years. I never thought I would say that. Next year we will have our most talented team, then perhaps a slight drop off the following year when Milan, the Ball brothers, Stone, Patterson and some other key players are gone. But the next year, when Jennings is a Senior, we should be nearly as talented as we should be next year. Perhaps even better. As you know it is hard to predict a year ahead much less two or three years ahead. Kids move, some kid improve greatly other kids peak early, then you have possible injuries to deal with, etc, etc. but in general, that's how I see the team progressing the next few years.
