Pride is a great athlete and is a force to be concerned with. According to the Bedford Co paper he has scored 32 pts in each of his last two games, BUT he only scored 4 pts in the game prior to that. It's all in how you defend. Unfortunately basketball is a team sport and it's hard for one superstar to carry a team. I personally would rather have a nice group of solid role players than live or die with one superstar.

I'm quite positive that FC will bounce back and be sharper than ever. That's what great teams do! I sure wouldn't want to be Community this Friday! Lol

The word shocked was never used in my post at all.....I was more envious. I am very sorry you interpreted the way you did. I have been around sports long enough to know that 80% of kids do not handle situations like that well......being a "good sport" is a learned skill, therefore someone has to teach it to you. That is why I tipped my hat to the coaches and said the parents should be proud because it's obvious they have learned that skill from the parents and coaches. It was a compliment because they acted in a manner that I would want my own son to act in that situation. FC was 16-0 and had not faced an adverse situation this year.......and they handled it like champs!

Let me start by saying that Fayetteville City is a GREAT team! FC did not play their best game, and Moore Co played a very patient game tonight at home. They didn't commit stupid turnovers and take bad shots down the stretch. They had a lot of poise and took advantage of the breaks they received. It was by far their best "team effort" of the year. It's been over a month since they have been at full strength between injuries, the flu, etc.... It was nice to have all the key players back and for the most part healthy. I was told that the FC players were great sports and very classy in defeat. Their parents should be proud!!! I tip my hat to the FC team and their coaches.

I was a bit shocked this morning when I looked at the scores from last nights games. Fayetteville City taking care of business was not a big shock, but one of the districts "2 best teams" losing at home was rather shocking. I had a chance to see MTCS lose by 1 at Huntland a couple of weeks ago and would have never believed they could beat Eagleville based upon how they played that night. Perhaps they were missing some players that night? Needless to say, big win for MTCS. In the third game I see that Moore Co pulls off the upset against Huntland at home. Is Huntlands's leading scorer still out??? What a crazy night in 9-A, but it always is.

Any predictions for Fridays games? Community @ Huntland Forrest @ MTCS Moore Co @ Fayetteville City

Not sure Fayetteville City will have a challenging district game at all this year. Now of course anyone can be beat on any given night, but the stars will have to be aligned just right for any team to pull off the upset!!! It will be interesting to see who steps up in the district and gives them a scare.

First night with a full slate of district games....who are your favorites? Huntland @ Fayetteville City Eagleville @ Forrest Community @ Moore Co

    9-A

Sounds like we will have a very competitive district this year full of very close games. Everything gets under way this Tuesday because I believe MTCS visits Huntland. It sounds as if Fayetteville City, Eagleville, Forest, and MTCS seem to be the consensus front runners for those all important top 4 spots, and the possibility of maybe Huntland making some noise after an underachieving tourney last year. I just want to wish everyone in 9A good luck this year, but most of all I hope that all the teams have an injury free season!!!

I read in the Shelbyville paper that Community has been playing without 3 starters. Are they injured? When will they be returning?

I suspect Eagleville will be very solid as well. From what I saw in the spring they have some size and some depth. I would still say that Fayetteville City has to be the favorite to win the district though.
  12. 1. MTCS (9-3) 1. Community (9-3) 3. Moore Co (7-5) 3. Fayetteville City (7-5) 5. Forrest (5-7) 6. Eagleville (4-8) 7. Huntland (1-11)
  13. Only 3 schools have rosters posted on the internet........Forrest, Fayetteville City, and Moore Co. It would be nice to know who everyone has coming back this year. I noticed when comparing last years Fayetteville City roster to this years roster it appears that they do not have 2 "would be" juniors and 2 "would be" seniors from last years team. It looks like they picked up 1 new junior and 4 freshman and have 7 players back from last years team. Not 100% sure this is the case, but that is what is posted. Its really hard to pick when you do not know who is playing for each team, or do not have knowledge about underclassmen that may not have played much for teams who lost a lot to graduation. Last year someone posted a very nice district preview on the Forrest webpage. I thought it was great and it gave a lot of info about the teams. Other than the info I found on Fayetteville City the only things I believe to be fact are: I believe MTCS only lost 1 player to graduation and they have the best player in the district coming back in Spears (not only a great player, but a great young man), Eagleville lost 8 or 9 seniors, Forrest lost a lot to graduation, Huntland lost Mclennan and Satterfield, Community lost a couple of players to graduation but they have a nice group of Seniors with a lot of experience coming back. If anyone has any info please feel free to share.
  14. Lots of close games all year within the district. It would not surprise me at all if an 8,7, or 6 seed moves into the second round, in fact I am banking on it happening!!! If I had to bet on it, my money would be on Cascade though, but they better not take Community lightly. MTCS has lost 4 of its last 6, and Moore Co has been playing well as of late, so an upset in that game would not shock me either. Eagleville has proven they can play with anyone as well.......their speed can cause a lot of problems. It should be a great tournament, I just wish I could watch all of the games.
  15. December 7th games. Pick your winners! Cascade @ Eagleville Community @ Fayetteville Forrest @ Huntland MTCS @ Moore Co
  16. The only thing that I have learned thus far is that there are no easy games in this district. I don't think you can look at any game on the district schedule and count it as a guaranteed win.......if anyone is they are crazy and a bit overconfident. I have no idea at this point who is the best. Everybody is beating everybody.
  17. Basketball has never been a priority in Tullahoma. It has been the "red headed step child" of the big 3 sports without question. With that said I am not sure Jeff Taylor ever received the credit due for what he accomplished in Tullahoma. I guess you don't know what you have until it is gone! He did absolutely incredible things at tullahoma. Of all the coaches at Tullahoma, Taylor did the most with the least amount of resources. All the sports have great coaches, but unfortunately basketball has never had the resources in talent and dedication that the other sports have available to them. Be easy on this new coach, coaching basketball at tullahoma is definately not a job that I would want for sure. I think coach Watson that was hired and left within two weeks saw how it was and what he was going to have to battle against, and got out. Can't say that I blame him!
  18. Not sure. He has been practicing in a very limited basis, but not dressing for games
  19. Question to all of you 9A fans about our district. This is my first year with a kid in class A and I have learned a lot thus far lol. I have been reading the message boards and watching scores and who teams are playing. It appears to me that other districts may have more "elite" teams but they have a bunch of "weak sisters" as well. Other districts appear like they have one or maybe two great teams, but then the drop off is substantial. Our district appears to be pretty solid from top to bottom, although we may not have what one would call an elite team. In other words if they had a march madness tournament for TN high schools I get the feeling that our district would have the most teams in the tournament, but we may or may not have a team in the final four. Kind of like the Big East the last few years. Am I crazy or is there merit to my initial thoughts?
  20. Not to mention we still have a starter from last year that's not able to play yet due to an injury.
  21. Archangel I believe you are 100% correct!!!!! A VERY DEEP team with veteran leadership and an unselfish belief in one another. I am very excited for all of them.
  22. We played Richland the other day and they appear to be a very solid veteran team. A nice mix of talent! I was very impressed with #15. #30 is a very aggressive force as well, plus you have the kid that can shoot from about anywhere in the gym (I do not recall his number). I wish all of our players were able to play, but we have a chance to play again next month and the entire team will be there. I thought we played pretty well though considering. The 2 seniors we had played well and our young guys contributed quite a bit. Richland has a very nice team and should be very successful this year!!!
  23. Moore County will not have entire varsity team tonight, but I am sure that those who will be there will be very ready to play.
  24. Its been a lot of fun for me to read this thread from start to finish. It appears based upon others' predictions that Forrest seems to be the favorite.......but after that it appears to be quite the crap shoot! LOL I absolutely love it! Sounds like its going to be a great season and I am looking forward to seeing it all unfold. Personally I think the teams with the most depth will be the ones who will win those few extra games to move them closer to the top of the standings since it appears all the teams are too close in talent to predict an absolute order of finish. Its hard to ride 2 or 3 guys and consistently get the W's night in and night out over a long schedule. Fresh legs without a drastic drop off in talent, and a lot of bodies bringing different things to the floor is what its all about! I personally will be wearing "THE COLUMBIA BLUE" during the season and cheering for every member on our team, and not just my own son. HOWEVER I am also a lover of the game of basketball and will tip my hat to others for a job well done. I just hope for a competative season without any ugly moments that take away from the spirit of competition. I am also not going to make any preseason predictions and make anyone mad on here lol. Perhaps all the teams will go 7-7, and then we can let the TSSAA sort out the tie breakers lol......what more could you ask for in a district!!!
