  1. Okay so I have waited until I have seen almost all of these teams play. Except harpeth :/...I agree with most that their is a chance these teams in the middle will beat up on one another and any of them can beat any of the others. I was surprised last night to see Mr. Alex Lyon on the football field for White House last night who immediately contributed and should only get better with his athletic ability, I feel immediately filled a hole that was left by a transfer on defensive side. Also noticed that heritage does have some good skill players and big play ability , but lets be honest east Robertson just not very good at all. Also thinking that Chatham county a little overrated , but also been through a ton just administratively coaches and what not this summer. Also thought sycamore looked better than I had anticipated honestly. But had to mention some things noticed in jamboree, but now for my pre season prediction. 1) White House 2) Greenbrier 3)Westmoreland 4)Sycamore 5)Heritage 6)Cheatham County 7)Harpeth And honestly I feel 3 through 6 could all beat one another and challenge the top two, but from what I have seen one of the oldest year to year rivalries , I think maybe the 70th year this year, will be for the district championship between White House and Greenbrier and its early in the season so whoever wins that game in control I believe to win the district this year!
  2. Anyone have any information on what happened?, I thought the girls ( who are always good) and the boys returning every player were setting up to be a sleeper to run deep next year with what I thought was a solid ball coach ? Cheatham county schools going wild
  3. The question is competing?? Has to be a yes. No matter what happens during the regular season WH always competes in playoffs, really doesn't matter what kind of team they have. I will admit though WH might finally have them another QB that can be a real factor in the sophomore Rankin (spelling??) if he gets to play this year, but definately next year. Haven't seen a true performer in that spot since Kyle Levering on the 04 semi final team. Unless you count Greenwade who didn't get to finish ...
  4. Good point, so if he doesn't leave maybe we will find out more this year since they are playing 3 of those teams I believe
  5. With Station Camps existence and growth, and Pope John Paul starting to recruit harder. Will Beech ever get back to where they were, or were they just carried by the chamberlain family for literally almost 10 years of basketball???
  6. I just am having a hard time understanding that logic and basketball reasonings to think Heritage would move up and be number 1. I mean just looking at last year and comparing to a bottom of the district team White House who was not very good we all know and can admit that. Heritage 1-2 against Nashville Christian. White House beat them by 30 points. Heritage split with Greenbrier winning at very beginning of year than losing at end of year. White House beat them when it mattered the most. Heritage did beat aaron academy and lost. White House lost. Those were the only common opponents besides dismal westmorland. White House losing Elrod and Huskey and Breedlove. Not much on the contribution end. Heritage losing the Robertson County Player of the year in Allison. Also Their starting wing players and 6th man? And I know you know the game from other posts and are objective at times and just speak good basketball. So, i guess having hard time understanding why number 1 unless you have more information than me and know for a fact those couple transfers are coming THIS YEAR lol, and if that the case please let us know !!!! I just feel a 4-6 pre-preseason ranking for patriots is a more respectable place to put them for them and the other teams, just based off of basketball and performance?? I Just wanted to give you an idea of why I had them where they were , not out of spite of pride of one school over the other. Because at some point we were all together, and should support one another and as a pair have a clean money making fun exciting town rivalry and want to take control of this district in the next few years and hold on to it for a long time after that !!! which is what I truly believe is going to happen as well. Just not this year...On another note: that patriot gym will be standing room only at some point and I can't wait to see it !! Heritage has the best facility in the district and should host and get rid of vol-state since only 2 sumner county teams are in the district still never understood that to begin with.....
  7. I think this is funny since Coach Maddux isn't "supposed" to be recruiting lol......But as far as having the ability to be a college coach at the Lipscomb level I definitely think he would fit in nicely there and would do a great job. He is hungry, and I think that is where he anticipated himself being maybe not this soon, but where he pictured himself to be as a goal I would say. And he would and will do a great job if in fact he is hired there.
  8. Macon is no longer in this district.....
  9. I don't feel that i am subjective since i picked white house to finish 5th in the district????? I just think that by the end of the year they could surprise some people in the district tourney just as they did this year by winning in the first round against greenbrier (who beat heritage like a week before their region championship run) and getting to atleast play against the eventual state champs .....I also think you misunderstood i am talking about the players going to be sophomores not the sophomores this past year because you are right not much besides maybe 1 player who can play in that class that i obserrved, but that upcoming sophomore class does have some good solid players that definately play better defense than elrod, and more in their repetoire than elrod since he was only a shooter this year because of his injury. And huskey was a good solid rebounder and defender, but his offense was dismal and nonexistent.White Houses point guard could not be stopped off the dribble by anyone, but had to play in post because of lack of post. But those were starters, i was talking more about white house's bench. And the trimmer kid is a player he is tall strong great rebounder, and can stretch the floor and shoot from the outside. I saw some of the few freshman games this year, and the pg for the freshman could have rivaled or was better than many of the other bench players that did come in and play ,and also a very talented fast slasher guard who will be the starting running back this year more than likely for the football team. Not to mention about a 6'3' not necessarily a good defender , but is a pure shooter who could come be a zone buster off the bench. all in the upcoming sophomore class, but to be called subjective when I picked WH to finish 5th is funny to say I thought. But as far as the region I would say only 1 team can compete there and that will be Cheatham County..... But i also think it is funny "pitchfork" i mean "cleggy" that you call me subjective when you know heritage as #1 is a ludacris ridiculous homer pick not a basketball knowledge post. and you used to be just as subjective to the other white house team. SO change of heart is cool and all , but I like to be objective and give the truth based on basektball not pride, but your right we all are entitled to our opinion and thats what makes the season great and exciting and loved by all !!!
  10. Goob, out of cleggys list I would think you would obviously beat out heritage. Since you gave them a good whoopin at end of year this year, and they losing their bench, and 3 starters. lol...Could all change if they do in fact get a couple transfers that are rumored to maybe be attending there next year......Out of my list I believe it would take a string of great games to beat out one of the "real" top three teams. But I would guess Harpeth based off of what people are returning and what not. And to be honest we all know I am objective if you have read my posts. I started thinking the other day White House actually gets better after losing their seniors they weren't very productive this past year at all really ,waste of minutes!!. Returning 3 starters (lyons, oskin, smith) who have played big time minutes . And white house sophomore class is one of the best around here and I think everyone will see and definately find that out if not next year two years from now. So they will be my dark horse tournament team.
  11. Good points cleggy, but as I said that discussion belongs in the new district 9AA thread. And yes those three are good players as I said. As far as big guys, supposedly greenbrier kid is 6 8' now. They are also getting Brown back (solid pg) i believe. Cheatham is bringing back 5-6 going to be seniors and going to be a very solid deep team, White house has that big kid who played last year for the first time fogle he is 6'6' 6'7'. Also white house has a sophomore who probably should have been playing varsity last year trimmer, he is big, mean , and can play and shoot for his size around 6'5' maybe bigger now. (breakout player this year in my opinion, but we will see). Sycamore did not lose one player off of their team that was much much better at the end of the year than they were at the beginning. So its not necesssarily that 2 , 2 , 2 scenario even though I understood what you were saying about the better players in the new district. But should be competitive all around, but see you over on the new district 9AA thread since thats where the Pats now belong !!!
  12. Come on now Cleggy lets not get out of hand. First 3 are good players, and will keep the Patriots in games next year. If bailey doesn't start scoring more that will also hurt the patriots moving up IMO. Sizemore just left that same district wasn't doing much, but new team new rejuvenation has the ability to take over any game at any level. The cunningham kid is big and nice size, but once again not going to be going against 6'2 and 6'3 like he did this year in that tiny tiny district and region., but hard to compete in that new district 9AA with only three players. Has the Kramm kid enrolled yet is that official?? and Also the Jernigan kid that is a transfer as well ????, The Thurman kid has a chance to be a good player, but way to out of control for the way old Patrone wants to play so see him struggling this year. Ellis can shoot a little bit, but lets just be honest doesn't have the skill to play large large minutes in AA and be effective. BUt your right this discussion should be in the new district 9AA that I can't wait to see how it falls out next year. But as a whole as far as varsity minutes played really only returning bailey, cunningham, and sizemore.?? But as far as this district East Robertson should be a good solid team, but I think that district 10A will be wide open !!!
  13. A - Look out for Goodpasture moving down to Single A. They are returning all their players from this years team. A team that I thought was very competitive in AA. Mitchell and Humboldt are the obvious favorites though AA- CPA, i guess maybe Southside will make another run, but truly a Secretariat situation. Can be beat, but most likely won't lol AAA - White Station returning the most talent IMO...... then whichever memphis school gets the most transfers.
  14. New District, couple old faces leaving and some new ones to join the district. Who are going to be the leading dogs and who is going to be in the bottom. I know its early and summer teams haven't even been selected yet, but should still be a competitive league I think. My super early before summer even predictions (subject to change once all the dust settles from transfers and what not ) 1) Cheatham County (even with a new coach, returning a solid team) 2) Harpeth (played good competition and always fundamental and pretty solid) 3)Sycamore (Didn't lose anyone I think (could be wrong), but definately got better as the year went on and could surprise some people next year 4)Greenbrier (If they keep that freshman they will be very competitive next year , he can play, always play hard, and seemed to be decently well coached this year) 5) White House (Got some young talent going to be sophomores, going to be 3 year starting all district PG, lights out shooter at the 2, feel they could be a wild card compete and beat anyone or get beat by anyone) 6) White House Heritage ( Returning solid pg and post player. And a wing in Size (never know what your going to get from him though)... Not much after that. Moving up is always a challenge just a total different beast night in and night out. Have heard rumors of some good players transferring, but not for sure so with no transfers and moving up to AA, just don't think they will be able to win night in and night out.) 7) Westmoreland (continue to struggle, even with one of the best scorers in the district in White)
  15. Sry about crow comment , I guess I was still referring to LAs blatent disrespect for Howard after basing all judgments on their substate game with a beat up DC. It was said in context that Howard would be more competitive than LA at this stage, But I did say LA had a good team and they are fun to watch, but my ticket free as well !!
  16. 1)CPA 2)Jackson Southside 3)Howard 4)Fulton 5)East Lit. 6)Livingston 7)Mitchell 8)Gibbs These were my seedings and many people who were on this thread were calling me crazy, but to be honest after my day at the state tournament yesterday I feel that these were right on the money honestly. LA played by far the weakest team in the tournament. CPA played the second weakest so makes since the scores were like they were. I will take CPA = better team, better coach = victory CPA will win the game by double digits , 20 would be the max I would say. LA are an impressive team, and how all the LA faithful back their team to the very end, but I believe crow will be ate after this game, or whining about how LA was the second best team and stinks they had to play CPA in the Semis, but I feel the Championship will have the two best teams being CPA and southside, unless Walters from Howard has an even bigger game than he had last night. But see you all tonight, I hope LA does give CPA a game, but I just don't see it happening the best AA game will be the Howard/ Southside Game
  17. CPA will win better team, better coach = victory enough said
  18. What will Cheatham have returning?? Going into what was last year a weak district especially with Goodpasture departing, a new coach could have a chance to make immediate impact and win the district championship, crazy that the coach would be asked to leave after his successes and what IMO would more than likely be more continued success in the new district.
  19. He played at Rockvale which is down the street from eagleville haha , but I don't think that is where rockvale feeds though. So I am not sure where he was "supposed" to go, but I know he played for Rockvale
  20. Good post, they just need to have a another venue for girls/boys but what would be a better venue so they could go on at the same time?? Because these students are still student athletes so having games all day for a couple of days i feel would probably be frowned upon
  21. I have heard yes, and can be accessed through TSSAA.org
  22. Even though no disrespect to Fulton or Gibbs they played the games and won them to get here !!! Haven't seen either play.
  23. I can see this being a good seeding as well. Giving memphis schools the respect they deserve probably, even though mitchell does play in the easiest district IMO down there. No respect to Knoxville teams, which is also understandable. Do others feel Austin East would have been a better representative??
  24. Point well made.. Experience does matter at this point and can play a factor, any minutes one has played in that environment even if on bench, the preparation, the feeling of belonging there and have been there not happy to get there, it was expected to be there all plays important factors in the minds of these young adults. Coaches who have been there and been there also helps and is important. But I by no means are saying any of these teams do not deserve to be here because they all do. Thats what makes basketball great anyone can beat anyone on any night. Those seedings are what I just felt from the things I looked at that I feel are important in basketball played out.... But glad we are talking about basketball now though !!!!
  25. The reason i have howard up there is because of strength of schedule. I feel they have played tougher opponents as a whole. Also LA lost to DC twice during the regular season?? So anyone who knows basketball would expect the third game to go to LA. (hard to beat a team 3 times). Didn't LA trail like nearly 20 points to DC in that region championship game or something like that before coming back to win? And yes LA seems to be playing their best basketball right now, and I anticipate them doing well in the state tournament with a good draw I think they can definately make semis with chance to play for golden ball, but I tried to do my seedings on everyone's whole body of work and teams I have seen. As far as having east where I have them I have seen them play a few times this year. THey have spells where they look good by turning the other team over and getting in that up and down game. When they don't have this going they just Don't pass the eye test for me. Don't shoot the ball consistent enough, because in the Glass House most can handle the rock and pressure. Fulton is the best Knoxville team, from what I have heard they execute and play really good D. and we all know that Defense wins "championships". But I will have to say and agree that the 3-6 spots are and very tough to compare those teams. But overall should be a good mixture of styles and overall a great tournament looking forward to the bracket coming out sat.!!
