I agree with the win/loss not being the whole issue here. You were talking about being an example. I don't call kicking a trash can and hitting players and example. But win/loss is a big factor also. I'm sorry but it should be. I agree with what all your doing grad! I actually applaud you for that.

So really 07 through 10 you reaped the benefits of the prior coach? Now since 2010 you haven't had a winning season since? If you go 10-19 every year for 5 plus seasons and never finish .500 you should keep your job? You really think you deserve to keep a coaching job with those kinds of results? Honestly if I had results like that and this staff has had and I was a coach they wouldn't have to fire me I would resign on my own. It's more of a pride factor, if I couldn't get the job done I would want someone who could. But like I say 5 years is enough time to see if you have what it takes IMO. I understand why you are defending the staff up here now..........

I know in 07-08 and 08-09 and 09-10 there were winning seasons there. How many years have you been there? I am unaware. But I think after 5 seasons if you can't turn around a program then it speaks for itself? Most of the players you are referring to here in your post are they underclassmen? I will put it like this, as an educator and an adult it's our responsibility to guide our young children and teenagers in the right direction. That's our god given duties! I agree with education should come before athletics I agree on grads policies of him setting his standards higher than the required policies. And I like and support that. But folks I am sorry when it comes to agreeing on keeping the current staff in place. If I am not mistaken we have had kids in the past 2 or 3 years getting letters from colleges there junior year and that fizzles away time senior year gets here. We have some student athletes that could play at the next level but we don't have a staff that helps these young men try to succeed at that level and pushes them. That's like our RB #1. You play these cream puff teams and instead of letting him pad his stats you go away from him and use him as a blocking back? Do we help these kids by sending out high light tapes? Etc. put kids in positions and let them shine at doing what they do best! Don't take opportunities away from them just because little Johnny doesn't get to play or get his carries. We need to push our athletes to be the best they can be on and off the field! Be role models! At the high school level you wouldn't believe the elementary kids that look up to these athletes. As I have always said, as a coach your job is to win games! Losing is suppose to hurt! winning is a reward that you get for all your hard work you put into it. This day and time things are different it doesn't bother a kid And there parents to lose anymore!! When you don't get hungry and want to go the extra mile and work harder for that then what exactly are you teaching these kids? Failure and losing should be unacceptable it's not how many times you get knocked down. It's how you respond to getting knocked down? This is how things are being looked at here in GRUNDY now by some if the post I have read here. Losing is ok here apparently a long as we can keep this current staff. I'm sorry but in my book losing sucks! Period and is unacceptable! You strive to be better than you were the day before and if you work hard and are determined and have heart any given day anyone can win! IMO 5 years is long enough, we haven't seen any change. I have no problems with the character of any of this staff. Bottom line is winning games as a coach. Sorry....

Indian if my memory was right it was 35 to 14 last year GRUNDY's way. But you got rid of your coach and brought someone else in an it's done changed. You have already doubled your wins from last season.

Take off your glasses Indian. We just got out coached like we do a lot. Yea you Indians really have a ball team. You are a couple if years from that in my opinion.

Well here in GRUNDY the difference is we have more talent than the 3 schools you have mentioned. But with how things are up here our record is the same as these teams. If we moved people into our area we would have a top notch program also. We have problems that for sure but were going to continue to have until changes are made.

Sooner or later if this is all you do it will carry over in the game they call LIFE! Do you want to keep things this way? I can't figure out for the life if me why GRUNDY county is content with these issues?

Sorry mtngoatbilly but I don't except losing at sports and holding my head up and being proud of my effort And my coaching staffs for that matter. Losing SUCKS plain and simple! If your an athlete and you bust it day in and day out and then go play and get beat that SUCKS TOO KNOWING YOU COULD BE BETTER!! When 90% of the time it's not your fault because you have to do what your coaches tell you or you will be punished!! You must be a family member or close friends or something because you have backed this staff the whole time they have been here during these losing seasons. By the way Have you ever played any sport? Because you apparently don't understand how it really feels to be on that end of things after a game you LOSE! But like I said its beginning to be a way if life at GRUNDY for boys athletics so why should we expect our administration to step up to the plate when we have foolish parents and fans that appreciate these efforts !!!

Seems to me like our fans and the boys are so used to getting beat down and being losers they just treat it as a way of life now and it's comfortable to them. How many athletes do we have walking the halls that doesn't want To waste there time because they know they are gonna lose. You think about it would you waste your time? The last boys sport besides baseball that's went anywhere was 3 or 4 years ago when our boys basketball team made it to the region. Losing is not a way of life but so many people are getting accustomed to it here in boys sports because that's all we have been given here. It's sad when the administration won't step up to the plate for our young athletes. Makes me sick!

Grad fact is I'm not disgruntled over of any of your reasons listed here. Honestly fact is I get tired of going and seeing our athletes and fans getting HUMILITATED knowing we could be better. Fact is you seen what our boys can do and are capable of doing. Fact is we played a half with every team on our schedule last year even with power houses and would get out coached in the 2nd half. You keep putting down our athletes here in GRUNDY which I'm not taking a liking too personally. We have better athletes here than is at Marion or south Pitt we just don't have the coaches to get it out. I know some things that's going on within but I am not going to discuss them here. All I'm saying is he can still teach and even be an assistant maybe to someone who can come in an turn this thing around. You people think you know about things and try and take up for someone you know you can beat every time you come up the mountain. Which if I was you i would want him to stay also just like everyone in our district it's an easy win, you would be a fool not to. So keep defending but like I said it's all a political thing and looks like its never gonna change. So You will get to continue to head back down to the valley with the W like you have ever since this staff has been here. Because looks like we are gonna ride this ship till it sinks like the titanic!!

Well bottom line no matter how many factors there is involved is this, your job as a coach is to win ballgames!! If you don't win and you can't agree with that then not sure what the problem is because it's cut and dry!! Just like any job you get if you can't produce and be productive then you are let go and they replace you. It's not rocket science. If we would have had a coaching staff you wouldn't have beaten us the last 2 years! I for the life of me Can't figure out why your defending this staff. Must be a family member then. It's vey interesting and fishy to me. Ha ha.

Nothing's gonna change my mind of this coaching staff they have had chances for multiple years never been better than 6-5. Why are you so interested in GRUNDY football If I might ask? Are you a coach looking for a head coaching job? My opinion is loud and clear and the points have been proven year after year. I'm about tired if beating a dead horse. Politics plays to much of a factor in high school athletics. PERIOD!

We will discuss things after the Notre Dame game. See how we have improved in our coaching staff then.

Maybe we should schedule GB and CCS for every other week. Then we will be 10-0 and everything will look great for coach then. That would be great.

The scoreboard issue is where it was used to the visitors side being more than 40 and last week against south Pitt it didn't make it that far. So it malfunctioned. Not been the same since.

Those kids beat them more than just 8th grade also. We had Gudger then and hargis before him. We had teams with a winning record but our coaches was threatened with him and for some reason he is gone now and at home at Marion. I have told you we have want-a-be coaches that's a joke. Those kids if they had been coached up after that who knows where we would be now. It's a shame we have let talent slip through without getting everything we could get out of our kids. But I consider that our administrations fault. Like I said no excuse for us to be where we are now.

Dillard I do agree with everything you say but one statement. Not going! These are our fine young men and if we don't go we are not supporting them. I don't like anything about what's going on in our football or boys basketball program none at all!!! I have made that clear time and time again. As long as our administration keeps what we have we are NEVER going to be competitive in these sports. That is a fact and there's no other way of looking at it! Our coach thinks he is the greatest and everyone should be coming to him. But we all know about that. I think our 2 programs I have mentioned here are a joke but basketball being worse than football. It is very sad for the boys in our high school and the future ones that's headed there.

I agree with the feeder program and the middle school. But I also remember when this group of seniors handed it to your seniors when we were at the jr jacket level. Do you remember that? We also didn't have a feeder program then either. These kids haven't beaten Marion since either under these coaches. So quit defending that issue. There's no excuse.

I just love how you people jump to conclusions saying disgruntled parent! You all kill me! I am willing to bet half the people on this site hasn't ever played a sport or coached a sport and probably doesn't even have a clue how too. And truth be known are probably Alabama fans that's jumped on the band wagon the last few years because you like following a winner. In small town politics sometimes things get swept under a rug just to make people happy and keep people in certain positions. If I'm not mistaken a coaches job the last time I checked was to WIN ball games! BOTTOM LINE! Right or wrong? If you don't win your suppose to lose your job, and search for someone that can make that team or program a winner. Look how many coaches we have went through in Knoxville looking for the right one. Who knows if Butch is the right one either. But bottom line know a little about what's going on before you put your 2 cents in something you know nothing about apparently.
