  12. Sad news... We were informed about mid-day yesterday that the 2014 Militia Duals have been cancelled. Under the Appalachian Elite banner, we were sending two teams down for the All-Star division and an upstart/up-and-comer's all-Bradley squad to the developmental High School division. I have heard that there are at least 2-3 other TN squads heading down as well that have now been hung out to dry. Not only has this put us out of much need quality competition, but has put our program in the hole financially due to gear packages ordered and already processed (point of no return). I have emailed the CMP/GNWA "higher-ups" about a competition alternative rather than just outright cancelling it and have been unsuccessful. So, I say all of that to say this, WE STILL WANT TO COMPETE. I've spoken w/ Coach Beuglas (Archer, GA) and he and I are both in to still compete as is Team Blue Ridge (upper East TN/VA area). The original weekend of Militia was June 12-14. Does anyone on here know of any other all-star (Dixie or Militia Duals-type) or summer dual competitions around the same timeframe (or any other timeframe for that matter) that we could all attend? I'm looking into possibly being able to loosely host something here at Bradley as is Coach Beuglas at Archer. I've also briefly spoken w/ a Chattanooga contact about maybe looking into Camp Jordan, ala the old Challenge Cup (now the Dixie Duals). But, with us being on a tight time crunch, something smaller and more loosely organized will be sufficient and more likely. At the end of the day, I don't want the kids that have signed up and committed to go to miss an opportunity to compete/get better and all our time, effort, and money be wasted or bear no fruit. I'm open to suggestions. Post 'em, email me, or call/text me. Thank you all in advance, Ben Smith Bradley Wrestling bmsmith@bradleyschools.org 423-650-2662
  13. When I get the lineups set, I'll post them. Both teams should be competitive. The Appy Elite GOLD team made the All-Star division finals last year, but lost to North Carolina A-Team.
  14. We're in need of the following weights: Appy Elite GOLD team: 195 Appy Elite RED team: 113, 170, 195, and HWT These two teams will be competing in the All-Star division. If interested, please email me and let me know. The spots will be given to the highest place finishers from the State Tournament. Schools represented: Bradley Central, Wilson Central, Beech, Heritage (TN), Maryville, Science Hill, Bearden, Greeneville, and Dobyns Bennett. A singlet is offered, but not mandatory. Thank you, Ben Smith Bradley Central Wrestling bmsmith@bradleyschools.org

  16. Congratulations to Coach Teaster, Davis, etc. They run a class act, top-notch program from top to bottom and have the desire, drive, and work ethic to be good/great...which is exactly why I scheduled them very early in the off-season. I knew they'd be tough and I respect what they're doing, they're work ethic, and what they represent. I feel the same about Coach Foreman and Pigeon Forge. HHS just flat-out whipped us last night. We lost the match and lost the fight. We were lucky to escape w/ a win over PF,who didn't have a fully set line up yet. We traveled to get better...we did and hopefully we'll learn from this loss and improve. Heritage HS, their coaches, and program should be proud. No excuse should nor will be made by the Bears, myself, or my staff. We will go back to work and we will do the best we can to have the most successful season that we can...there is no might to that. We realize it is December and not February. Our whole county is getting better and we will either rise to the occasion or be left behind. We, my kids/MS club coaches, my assistants, and I, have no intentions of falling behind. Again, congrats to HHS and their coaches. We look forward to see them again next week at the BC Invitational. 17. Soms, Heritage, TN. Just added Tullahoma back to the mix as well. I've been around BC Wrestling for quite a while now and can't remember Soddy being there anytime after the early to mid-90's. See you soon and good luck. Ben
