  1. I love that this is the first game of the year. What a huge rivalry and fun atmosphere. As for the game, I don’t think either team will look much like the teams that played last year. Rossview: I think Hood will bring an element to the offense that will redefine Rossview football. Although he is walking into a tremendous program with lots of support, He still will have some challenges of any first year coach. I’m not sure Coach Hood will appreciate the intensity of this game, until he experiences it. Rossview is the 2nd toughest game on Clarksville’s schedule (next to HC). They are strong offensively, with a good O-line and stout backfield. Clarksville: Had a tremendously weak defense last year and they know it. This game with test them right out of the gate. Clarksville’s offense averaged 14+ points per game last year. They will most likely need at least 28 against the Hawks. Although I am always the optimist, I do believe both teams will perform well and will carry that momentum into the rest of the season.
  2. The Clarksville vs. Springfield game (Wk. 2) will be a pretty awesome atmosphere. This is one of the oldest rivalries in the state and it will be the first game in Springfield’s brand new stadium.
  3. Pretty good assessment. But you have to realize Henry County dominates Clarksville Schools because of their size and strength in the trenches. It is a product of their year round commitment to a program, and it gives an advantage to anyone they put behind center or in the backfield. Hopefully (because of their lines), CHS will be able to play 4 quarters of football with them this year.
  4. Just as I suspected. It seems to me your sole purpose on Coach T is to bash and to be negative towards Clarksville High. I have yet to see a single post that contributes anything of substance towards a meaningful conversation. Have a nice day
  5. I don’t claim to be anything more than a fan, but I do have some good insight on what is happening with the Wildcats, and I feel good at where they are this year. Northeast consistently has one of the best pools of talent in the city. But that doesn’t always equate to the best team. There program as a whole has a lot to be improved on. Coach Watson seems to have the talent and pedigree to be a good Head Coach, but he will have to learn as he grows into his new position, and adjust from a private school mentality to a public school one. I don’t know what kind of staff he has put together, but it must be challenging as he competes with his former boss at Rossview. I wish him the best of luck. Coach Wright has done a tremendous job at Northwest. He not only is a good coach, but he seems to be building a program that the players and school are whole heartedly behind. I think they will have a good season, but I also believe they will have a significant challenge transitioning to 5A during a year when they will lose quite a few key players. It looks like their schedule may favor them in the beginning, but the 3 game stretch at the end will be a challenge. As for my wildcats, this will be the first true Coach Shelby team to take the field. He has been training, mentoring, and conditioning this senior class since they were freshmen. I believe he has put together the finest program in the city. I do not think Clarksville will walk all over or (mop the floor) with their cross town rivals, but I do think they will be able to grind out wins and stay the team to beat in the city.

  7. I will double down on my earlier prediction and say that Clarksville will finish second in the district. This is one of the strongest teams CHS had fielded in many years and the O-line is Big, Fast, and Strong. Henry County is still the team to beat. Northeast is loaded with talent and will be right up there with them. Northwest will be good, but must adjust to 5A ball.
  8. Here are my random, bias, unsubstantiated pre-season predictions. Henry County 7-3 Back to the top now that Centennial is Gone Clarksville 7-3 They will rebound back to the top of Clarksville Northeast 6-4 Tons of talent and new coach that should move forward Northwest 5-5 Good team moving in the right direction, welcome back to 5A Dyer County 5-5 Unknown, so I just put them right in the middle West Creek 3-7 Should move forward under 2nd year coach Kenwood 2-8 Lots of challenges, Lost their D1 RB and Coach

  10. I'm still here. Not a lot of celebrating going on with my Wildcats. We’re not quit ready to throw in the towel just yet, but next year is looking better each week. There doesn’t seem to be as much positive chatter or interest in Region 7 this year. But I’m sure it will pick up as we head towards the playoffs.
  11. It is straight computer rankings that are based off of several factors other than records. Not at all perfect, but they pan out pretty accurate each year.
  12. Sonny Moore's Computer Rankings gave you a good bump this week. 13. Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. 2009 HC goes 10-2 - Only regular season loss was to Clarksville (5-6) - Then to Gallatin (9-4) in the playoffs.
  14. Things haven’t worked out as planned and Clarksville has found themselves with a lot of youth on the O-line and the defensive side of the ball. 7-3 is definitely out of the question, and 5-5 will require at least one major upset and two tough wins. But Henry County is not the scary giant of seasons past and Centennial still seems to be the team to beat in the region.
  15. It is obvious who the better team is, but Clarksville has not written their season over yet and will be coming to play for the upset. #anygivenfriday A win on the road at Henry County is a tall order and just the thing needed to jump start a hurting season. #WishfulThinking
  16. Great game, Poppop. Good luck to you guys throughout.

  18. Always a great game. Clarksville owns the Series 9 to 4, and Coach Shelby will find a way to get it done again this year. Go Cats!

  23. So much negativity against my beloved Wildcats. I just gotta love all the insight from the pronoun people who claim that “The Clarksville High School†is in such chaos. As for the game at hand, this is a very old rivalry and one between two teams that respect each other deeply. I was surprised to see that Clarksville has had the series edge since 2005 with a record of 10-3. But that doesn’t really tell the whole truth, because these two teams usually play a close game regardless of their records. Last year’s score of 21-20 is a prime example. Now as for this game, I believe it will be another close one with the difference only being one score. Clarksville 28 – 27 Springfield
  24. Huge win for your boys, way to represent Cville.
