  1. I love the Vols to Rebelron but I also enjoy winning football and it's very hard to watch what we do on Friday nights just to turn around and watch the complete opposite on Saturday. I look at some of those people that go to those games and wonder to myself how they could enjoy paying out all that money to set in a tiny little seat to watch that brand of football and pay a kings ransom for a couple of hot dogs and a coke while UT makes a killing off of them. I do believe Butch Jones will have something in the end but I believe that's going to be a couple of years down the road. Until then I will watch them on TV and avoid being suckered in by UT's propaganda machine.

  2. You play like your competition is the reason Kingsport can't win the big games like last night or Maryville. The competition in that area is weaker for some reason and I just don't know the answer why but it is.  If it were college we would be comparing Upper East Tennessee to the Big Ten and the Knoxville area to the SEC.

  3. It is a sad sign of the times that we are even having this post.  High School Coaches now are under the same pressure of college coaches "to win soon and often."  High School coaches differ somewhat from college coaches in that they have to play the students zoned for their school and can't go out and recruit players.  The facilities that the High School coaches deal with are dictated by the whims of Politicians and not the generosity of a booster. High School Coaches have it rough.  They are low paid for the time they must spend building/maintaining a program.  They must forfeit their summers to condition the players for the upcoming season.  I think the days of coaches staying at one school for a long career maybe over with.  Just like college coaches.

We all have good years and bad years in our chosen profession.  What if our employers decided to turn everyone over after a bad year?

When you coach high school football your not signing up for a free vacation.  You know what your getting yourself into and sometimes it's good and a lot of times it's bad. There are places out there that have a long road of failures and there is usually a reason. Normally there is a behind the scenes person or persons that cause so much interference even Nick Saban couldn't do anything to help that program and a perfect example is Heritage High School. God bless Tim Hammontree and all the hard work that man has poured into that program  but the predecessors that came before him destroyed that program so bad it might never be able to be fixed and who ever put her in charge of the athletic program deserves the blame also. I myself would rather take on the job of raising the Titanic.

  4. Miss the days when Central was a power to be dealt with. Not sure if moving school lines and where kids go to school had anything to do with the program going to pot or not. I do know the Central fans were great fans and deserve better than what I've seen in the past couple of years. I do know if that happened in Maryville someone would get run out of town on a rail real fast.

  5. Getting sick of these empty seats all around me at the Maryville Football Games this year. What in the world has happened. We had more people coming to the games when we were climbing the ladder then when we got on top of the ladder. Not sure if games aren't fun any more because of no competition or winning just got boring or what. I've watched people that have kids playing over the years and after they're gone they never come back, Hate that.  I myself get tired of listening to public address system wearing us out with stadium rules, and mentioning the sponsors so many times during the game it makes you sick. Can't even talk to the person beside you for the guy on the P.A. system running his mouth like a bugle on a gooses hind end. The guy announces all these silly rules but I'm not the one that made the paper for keeping some elderly lady from sleeping at 9 p.m. and fixing to get the school in some kind of lawsuit over it. Put a sock in it or someone please bring a roll of Duct Tape and see if that works.

  6. I know this might sound crazy to some people but those uniforms W.B. had this year look like Fido's A**. I know kids like this kind of stuff now days but you couldn't read the numbers on the jerseys unless you had field glasses  and those helmets also looked like crap.  I hate looking at those ugly things. The first thing I would do if I started coaching there today, I would load all that stuff up and take it to the landfill. Loved the uniforms they wore that looked like Florida.

  7. I have noticed the feeder system feeding into W.B. seems to be very small in numbers and not the best records. I don't see a lot of kids playing football in the smaller leagues and that has to hurt W.B. when those kids get to high school. I can almost tell you as soon as a boy is born in Maryville the father calls David Hunt and reserves his spot to play for the Little Rebs seven or eight years later before they are all taken. You just don't see people climbing the walls to get their kids involved in football in the county like you do for Maryville and that is really sad.

  8. Heritage started eight seniors on one side of the ball and nine on the other the two times I watched them play. I also watched the JV and Freshman team and they had two plays, sweep right and sweep left. That's when I made a decision it's going to be a while before things are any better for that program. I also got surprised the night William Blount and Heritage played so close. Then when they played Maryville I'm going to be honest with you, that was a shocker compared to the team I watched in the Jamboree against Alcoa. Not sure if injuries came in to play or they just plain gave up but I got all my questioned when they came out and lined the team out to one side of the field and the QB and center on the other in the Maryville game three times in a row.  I knew then all I needed to know and I can understand your concerns Governors91.

  9. I pull for all the schools in Blount County but the county system sometimes is it's own worst enemy. When I think of William Blount they remind me of the Everett Bulldogs so much it isn't even funny. They come up with a team maybe every seven years or so and go through one coach after the next in hopes this will be the one. Now for Heritage, they remind me of that school that no longer exist called Maynardville Red Devils. You could always count on opening your little Peek'Size Football Guide every year and look at all the teams and they would be 0-10 or 1-9 every year.
