If you don’t practice clock management with kids you will continue to get your backside kicked in crucial situations.  The definition of insanity is to continue doing the same thing and expect different results.

That reminds me of the 2022 Alcoa-Maryville game and we're down near the twenty with over a minute and a few seconds to go and we have three coaches on the side jumping up and down sending in signals and the clock is running while the boy's on the field were looking back like dear in headlights and the clock just clicking away. Then the panic set in and we throw a pick six because we wasted more than half a minute or more during that Chinese Firedrill that cost us a good chance to win the game. I have no idea why we were doing that stuff because I don't know of any Bill Belichick's coaching in East Tennessee stealing signals. But that's high school football and still the best entertainment around unlike tomorrow night when everyone puts on their blinders to watch a game that has already been fixed by Vegas.

The field looks great! Congrats to f’n hairtage and the program. Everyone will enjoy it.

Haven't seen anything on William Blount's field. Not sure if it's going in now or after this one is done. Skysnaps Aerial Photography on facebook had pictures of the field when they just put the layer of crushed rock down.

  3. The new field has finally been installed at Heritage for this up coming season. Awesome picture by Skysnaps Ariel Photography. Hard to believe this will be the Mountaineers 48th team and I still remember going to the very first game there against McMinn County back in 1977 that Heritage won in overtime.

According to the Director of Schools, because of a ruling by the state comptroller in Dec, you cannot use a co-op and thus the steel to build them will not be available this season.  They intend to have all games played at home as scheduled but with temporary bleachers again.   The stadiums that were affected have already been demolished.

There you go, ole needle dick the bug f####r always ruining the party for everyone, never fails.

They hadn't cleaned their press box?  I mean, yes looks bad on Packer, but not just him...

It was funny because there was a kid in the 10th grade for Greenback and the roster he was reading for him said he was in the 8th grade. The kid was having a great game and he kept talking about if this was an eighth grader Greenback was set for the future. They were playing Coalfield if I remember  right. It was the kid that transferred and went to Virginia to play high school his senior year.

  6. Just a note to all the Maryville fans, we lost a good man James C."Buddy" Allen on the 27th of January at the age of 84 who was one of the biggest football and basketball fans the school has ever had. He'll be missed very much and he was always a pleasure to talk with. Anytime you talked with Buddy the conversation was going to be about the football and basketball team. He loved his Maryville Red Rebels.

  7. Back when I was in school Maryville had a head coach and 2 assistants and won three state championships and was runner up twice with that set up. One of my coaches told me if a light bulb blew he would have to just about beg the superintendent for a new one. I look at the crowd of three or four thousand on a good night then I look down at the field and count 15 coaches and wonder how does the gate pay for all of this not to mention the playoffs when the T$$AA gets to rob the cash register. If every coach on the field had to be a teacher the whole teaching staff would all be coaches figuring in all the other sports.

Everyone that failed to hire the twins from CC missed out. Two great people who are excellent coaches.

What about their defense, that's what I would be concerned about with them. Walker Valley would have scored a 100 points on them had it not been for the mercy rule. How could a team be that bad on defense.

  9. Most all youth league coaches work another job and coach for free and I'm sure he isn't on the clock and commission based and coaching job would offset any losses there but who knows the coaching job may even help his sales. Most coaches are tied up at school all day for the same period of time he would be on another job.

Why would Alcoa pay better than most to get someone to leave? Just asking for a friend:huh:

Think you read it wrong tradertwo. Alcoa pays well enough that not many are willing to leave and take less. Maryville. The two main coaches for Alcoa are former Maryville players and neither one of them could take a cut in pay just to go back home.

Catholic not going out and hiring somebody with a pulse after Matthews left was equivalent to waiving a white flag and admitting that they can't compete in that classification.

After watching that Baylor and McCallie game before 20,000 people and to think of Catholic playing at a place that is more in line for a decent 3A school.  Always dreaded going there to play because I'm not one of those that wants to go 2 hours before a game to get a seat.

Rumor out of  Copper Basin is that recently fired head coach Chad Grabowski is headed to Sweetwater as the defensive coordinator?

It's good to see he is getting to bring in someone himself. I'm curious if Slover is still there teaching or has found another job coaching somewhere else.

BTW , I'm hearing the job has been offered just waiting on KCS to approve it.  An announcement should come by next Friday.

I hated it when Jeff Phillips moved on. They put some points on the board and the following year they completley tanked. His last 5 years they averaged 475 points a year and the first season after he's gone they scored 42 all year long. What in the ale happened. I watched them twice last year on film and it surprised me they find a better QB in Cherry just before halftime in the Carter game but the damage was done. What am I missing Turtle.

  14. If I were a coach and my team lost the last thing I would want to see is one of my players doing a photo shoot with the family and friends like nothing happened. I would just tell my fan base we treat losing a game like death and nobody goes to a funeral doing that crap out of respect and I expect that out of you and my players. Doing stuff like that goes against everything known to man if your trying to build a winning culture.
