Please be more specific about how I was wrong. I am honestly curious about your reasoning.

Lamenting the lack of more and bigger facilities when a team is on a winning path may be normal, but what is the point? Leverage winning to get bigger facilities...and for what purpose? Is the reason because a larger school across the county has bigger and better facilities?

As I stated previously, maybe Upperman is a good example that bigger facilities are not necessary to produce a winning season. What is not true about that statement? Furthermore, I believe the head coach at Upperman is the difference maker, not the facilities. The facilities must be adequate enough to produce a successful program, right?

If the community has the means and public will to improve the facilities, more power to them. They are free to make changes.

    P.S.  It's "you're..."

Way to get on the defensive so fast. He literally said you were not wrong.  But to your point, the schools out there through Tennessee that are truly at the "top", and have top notch facilities, can beat Upperman. Beating Lebanon by 10 when they are clearly on a down year proves nothing. 2023 is nothing close to last year's team. Is Upperman winning games the last few years? Certainly. But in this Century the best Upperman has done is get to the Semis. Teams that invest a lot into facilities and such? Are winning state titles.

I mean, I think what Upperman is doing is great. Good football team. But to act as though having nice facilities makes no difference is ridiculous.

Agreed, if they go wire to wire with Brentwood, then they are a serious contender for the rest of the season, provided QB stays healthy

Not saying he's the whole team, they have other good players. But they would be a totally different team without Baker IMO. He is a playmaker.

They are going to need to pull out multiple big wins somewhere down the line to do so, tough schedule both in and out of region

I think if they do any better than 7-3 with the schedule they've been given, top 10 better be in order.

We can all agree the refs were horrendous. The first onside was called offsides, the second call was the ball did not go 10 yards when the kicker recovered the ball at 11 yards. In terms of physicality, I look at numbers and SC had 169 more yards of offense. SC also had only one player cramp all night while it seemed as though Gallatin's trainer ran a marathon Friday night the amount of times Gallatin defensive players were down on the field. If you have the ability to look at the film then go look at the 3rd and 4th quarter, because Trey Perry at MJ will and he will be grinning watching how tired Gallatin players are in the second half. Only reason SC lost the game was because of turnovers. I'll give Gallatin's offense credit, they can get the job done but anyone on your schedule with a half decent offense is going to put up a lot of points on your defense.

Agreed that the defense has to get better, fast. They have good moments but then have break downs on 3rd & 4th down.

My thoughts on the game.. I do not believe Gallatin was more physical. If not for a couple big pass plays that game was much different. Station Camp rushed for 353 yards and Gallatin had 109. Station Camp passed for 173 and Gallatin for 248. I believe that rushing number shows who was more physical. I've heard a lot of Gallatin fans this weekend say if not for the muffed punt that game would have been way different. That game would have been way different had two onside kicks called back for SC as well as two pass interference calls all made by the same referee. Everyone in that stadium knew both of those onsides were clean, heck after the second one the ref was spotting the ball before he even threw the flag. But Station Camp still had a chance to win the game and had it gone into overtime it would have happened, but enjoy the win Gallatin. It was a great game still with a great crowd. I thought the game would never end. Station Camp will now get ready for region play in 4a, have to travel to Marshall County this week. But Pearl will be the team everyone is going to be chasing after an impressive win over CPA and MBA.

Gallatin dropped a sure TD pass (wide open had every man beat & hit him in the hands in stride), muffed a very avoidable punt return at their own 3 yard line which gave SC 6 points, also missed all-together 6 points worth of mistakes on easy PAT's & 1 short range FG. To me, the game appeared that it could have been worse than a 3 pt win. Definitely some things to work on though. SC made plays, Gallatin made more.

You hit upon a great point.  The O-line is doing their job and providing him with time and opening up some running lanes.  Like you said, still a lot to clean up but you have to like where the O-line stands right now.  D-line is playing real physical and tough too.  Still have to work on the containment but they are applying pressure.

If we could figure out how to not have secondary break downs I think G could surprise folks. BUT....they gotta fix it quick with fast scoring MJ coming to the Yard next week with a game that could decide a pretty important spot in the region.

I will admit I was wrong about this one. Haven’t seen any film on it yet, certainly appears d I may be wrong about Gallatin.

Look, there is still a lot of things that gotta get cleaned up. Two weeks in a row that the secondary has got beat. But they are playing physical on the line.

The pressure has been placed on the young sophomore qb to score points, and he did. O line is giving him enough time to make his reads. Looks like both Gallatin & Beech got a sophomore qb that we feel comfortable with for the next 3 seasons.

Station Camp may be 0-2, but they have a nice team. I believe they can do well in their region. The game next week vs Marshall County is a big one, as I see it being the game that decides #2 in their region. Pearl Cohn is finishing 1st.... They have just knocked out MBA & CPA in back to back weeks. But all the other games SC should be favored in except for Marshall.

But if the Bison win next week, I think they finish 7-3.

They were large but not overly physical.  I think we showed who hit harder and who could hold those linebackers at bay.  Gallatin had what 5 or 6 sacks on the night?  Heck, if those receivers catch all those passes that hit them in the hands, they would have had 400 yards passing.  Game was a lot closer than it should have been.

That was my biggest takeaway from this game. Super proud of them on a good win for sure! But, they left 6 easy points on the board just on special teams errors alone. They also didn't punch it in from the 1 yrd line on the first possession, & dropped TD pass. All of that to say I think it could have been a bigger spread.

Yeah he was wrong about that

When I seen how we looked at the LOS last week against HVille, compared to hearing lots of voices on here saying that we were going to be way out-physicaled by SC, I was thinking SC must be pretty dang solid and huge for people to be saying that.

Enough on this, back to the SC/Gallatin game. Station Camp will be the much more physical team and I think they win by 2+ scores.

This was the part that had me confused. This is two weeks in a row Gallatin has been the more physical team.

  11. No huge expectations here being put on the year 1 guy. My expectations are: Lets compete & try to win every game! But if not, let's atleast battle for 4 quarters and score points! Make it interesting. Don't do the same thing time after time and expect different results. He has the support of Gallatin. This is still a football town. Lets continue to build from youth & up.

  12. I think Coach Stroup is going to run a well disciplined program, and winning cures all. But these changes don't happen overnight. I'm just glad that some of us are still out there that want to represent their home city to the fullest as I and many of you did for your city. If that is not you and Loyalty just isn't really your thing, then by all means please go elsewhere is how I look at it. IF YOU are good enough to be a college athlete, you will get spotted.

Social media has killed a great deal of discussion on the T. I am guilty of it myself. I still love this site, but I find myself checking it less and less with each passing year.

What social media group is there more high-school football chatter than CoachT?

Temp bleachers were being unloaded off trucks at Shackle Island Stadium when a school board member stepped in and said they hadn't been approved.  Bleachers were loaded up and taken away.  Not sure if or when Beech will get temporary bleachers for games this year.

Is it because the old structures need to be demo'd?

I was referring to the stadium facilities. I’ve seen the new visiting bleachers.

Still think the home side, concessions, restrooms, visiting locker room (if you can call it that) are still in major need of upgrading.

They aren't done with upgrades yet. They got it ready enough to play games this year, then more to come. We'll see what's to come with the home side, but I think it is still a pretty cool venue and it's still the largest stadium in the county. and most others as well. & Away restrooms are pretty nice i'd say. Brand new building & air conditioned.

Gallatin has so much potential, but needs a big face lift. They need it more than ever with their facilities lagging behind the rest of Sumner Co.

Have you visited the weight room recently? Walked through the locker room? Indoor facility? Been at the first home game this year with the new away side that is literally brand new?
