NOT TRUE!!!! The rule is that if the bar falls off due to contact by the vaulter it doesn't matter where you are when the bar falls it is a missed attempt. That is an old tale that won't die both in the high jump and Pole vault. Good luck in the future.

  2. I would have to agree. At the state meet lots of times you have to wonder how did this kid qualify to get here, knowing that somewhere else in the state another kid is sitting at home who could have done better. The state meet needs to be a true sate championship with the best kids competing in every event. Most likely the same person would still win the meet but others would be given a chance at placing at the "STATE" meet.

  3. I also like the 4 x 800, around Kingsport there are a lot of teams that are low on numbers and cannot field either a 4 x 200 and some time the 4 X 800. I am really dissappointed at the level of competition in this area. Maybe since the weather has seemed to break everyone will pick it up a little. It's still early and the best know it is too early to push too hard.

  4. Very few retail stores sell spikes. Try Eastbay.com. Huge selection for all events. If you run on paved surface don't waste your money on the ceramic spikes, they won't last.

  5. As usual the coaches tried to please everyone. 10 from Happy Valley is a joke. Somebody needs to remind them that there are only 5 players on a basketball team. List 5 first team and 5 second team and let it go at that. If someone gets mad, so what. Carroll probably deserved player of the year but he disappeared when it got down to crunch time in the tournaments.

  6. Win or lose when you make it to the State you can hold your head high because you are one of only eight teams that made it. Central has a good sound ball team with lots of depth. However they are getting ready to play a team like they haven't faced before. But look back at last year Bolivar wins in first round by 3, wins in second round by 3 in overtime, final was a blowout by 20. They didn't exactly walk through the tournament last year! If you have to play a great team I think you have a better chance to win by playing them early, mainly because of the 10 day layoff. Don't start shing that gold ball yet for Bolivar. There are other teams MLK, R-E, and Haywood who are very talented also. Central won't be intimidated. I hope to see all the Central fans in Murphy Center Thursday. Remember game time is Central time 12:15. I already have my orange shirts in the suitcase!! Good luck to Unaka and Tenn. High also.

In the famous words of Miles Lane---LET"S GET IT ON!!!!!!!!

  7. If Central plays a good game they can win this game . A sub-par performance will make it almost impossible to win.

My prediction is Central leads early but as usual lets Alcoa back in the game. Depth and the play of some "KEY" bench players help the cougars pull out a 7 point win if they make their free throws down the stretch.

Remember what Eminem says "You got one shot, don't miss your opportunity"

Take care of the ball on every possesion like your momma's life is riding on it!!!!!

  8. My best wishes go to Unicoi and Central. A-E does not play a wide open run and gun game which is more typical of the Memphis teams. Coach Mitchell plays a more slowed down tempo with emphasis on DEFENSE. They are NOT unbeatable. So Unicoi play a smart game , hold turnovers to a minimum, shoot reasonably well, play solid defense and give yourdelf a chance to win the game. Central the same goes for you.
