One crowded day at the state tournament in Murphreesboro I overheard a small kid complaining to his dad that we had to stand at the entrance while the National Anthem was played. His answer and I thought a great one was "A lot of people have died so we can stand and honor this song". I think that preety well explains it.

My Personal opinion is if you can't stand with respect during the playing of the National Anthem you are not a true American and need to get the heck out of the country.

Falcons are flying high, I guess some of my quotes have ticked this bunch off. They played a real good hard game last night. Good Luck Tonight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Toppers have won too many close games with Crockett and Tenn. High they could lose in Semi's Thursday. Tenn. High will be hard to beat on their home floor.

Brian Crowder from Rhea County is looking very hard at this job. He took his team to state last year in a very tough region. Talent wasn't there this year. He also has won state titles while in Arizona.

I hope everyone knows amber anderson is in a field event. Last year she missed state by 2inches. and this year she is throwing discus 99 feet and she will take gold to Sycamore this year.

She better add about 25 feet to that 99 or she will be throwing for 4th or 5th. 99 will probably get her to state in memphis.

99 feet will probably get her to state in A/AA but it will take 120+ to win it.

PF looks like the class of the field, but no one will be rolling over for them. I see PF over Eliz. in the finals.

Central runs the worst press in the conference. One good pass and the offense has a 2 on 1 everytime. But I've said it for at least 4 years! Cougars better shape up quick, the train is coming and they don't want to get left at the station. Hope the snow goes away so we get the games in tonight.

All the playing is over, now it is time to"get it on". Losers go home Tuesday and Wednesday so all teams get a fresh start. I see a 4th game possible for Unicoi and Central. But there are always some upsets. Hosting sub-state game would be huge for either team. It is so hard to win in Knoxville area, our teams need all the help they can get. Go District 1.

I see Central and Unicoi county for the fourth time!!!

Let me get the crow feathers out of my mouth and say good job to the Volunteer boys. With or without Carroll, Vol. wanted that win a lot more than HV. Can't wait till Tuesday when the real action starts. I think District 1 will make a real showing this week! Yes I will be pulling for Volunteer.

I hope they will win, but don't think they can. DO YOU UNDERSTAND????????

Facts are facts sorry if it offended you. I for one will cheer for any district 1 team at regionals and hope they all make it past the first round. Did you see me at the Volunteer girls game "Cheering" for Volunteer. I am NOT against Volunteer just telling what I think. I have plenty of negative stuff to say about Central too. Read some of those notes. I tell it like it is no matter who it is. I also have coached many Volunteer players in the past that is why I "SEE" the problems. Best of luck to Volunteer! I have many friends there.

I hope the Lady Cyclones overlook the Lady Cougars. That could be a fatal mistake. Cyclone fans please tell me why the head coach has to ask Fritz how to coach his team? I would be ashamed to ask a sportswriter how "I" was supposed to coach. Any comments??????

Unicoi ouplayed and outhustled HV in the second half. HV did get more fans ejected than Unicoi. Fridays game should be close but Centrals depth should help them win. Hopefully Unicoi will still be celebrating their win over HV and Cougars can take the 3rd game from them. These games are just for positioning, the real ball starts next week!!!!!! District 2 has had a bunch of upsets which could bode well for the District 1 teams. Go Cougars and also Lady Cougars tonight!!!!!!!!

Plain and simple players tend to take on the personality of their coach. Jay is probably in jail or soon will be. Frazier is mental. The rest of Volunteers team seem to play hard but are young. The Church Hill Mafia (whittemore and co.) tried some slowdown crap last night that just proves he was desperate. Volunteer will not win again this season. I wondre why Twin Springs has two former Vol. players???? Move to AAA will hurt Vol. bad next year.

Sullivan Central has beat Happy Valley once and Unicoi County twice. I think they deserve at least a top ten pick.

I forsee a bad ending for the Falcons tonight. HV and UC also win.

Central has one of the best benches in NE Tennessee, maybe some should play more but others should play less!!. The stats don't lie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The difference between good teams and great teams is simple. (Not in any certain order)

 

1. Attitude

2. Effort (Play as hard as you can as long as you can)

3. Team Work (It can't matter who gets the credit)

4. COACHING!!!! (all aspects need to improve)

 

By the way I don't have any ties to the team but have seen most of their games the last several years to know what they need to improve on. I'm sure I've seen you at several Central games in the past and will be at Unicoi County. GO COUGARS!!!!!!!!!!! Atmosphere could get crazy at Unicoi if Central, Happy Valley, Unicoi, and Hampton make semi-finals. Those four groups of fans in one gym at the same time could get wild!!!!!!!!!

From a purely impartial point of view: Central has a lot of talent returning next year but are going to lack much of an inside game. Hess, Weatherford and Buchanon are three quality players and it wouldn't take much more to put Central near the top in the Big "9" next year. A rumoured coaching change at Central could make the Cougar's contenders.

 

Central could go a long way this year if:

1. Play defense, especially giving up wide open 3's and the press gives up way too many layups.

2. Value each possesion, too many stupid mistakes, bad passes, missed layups, etc

3. When the team is on a roll, LET IT ROLL!!!! Don't sub 3 players and kill the MO.

4. Missed fouls shots will send you home at tournament time.

5. Don't sub too much, these guys should be able to play more minutes. Go with the studs (stats don't lie)

6. Learn clock management. Take the last shot of each quarter if you can. It's not that hard to do.

7. Trying to outscore everyone will also send you home early.

Volunteer is going nowhere fast. They are really struggling right now. I will be suprised if Volunteer wins a game. I do think Unicoi has a good shot at knocking off HV and face Central in the Finals. Either way the semi-final game will take too much out of either team and Central's depth will help them win the title. If it comes down to coaching, Central finishes 2nd.

Playing at Central is a big advantage for the Cougars. The bench is definately a cougar plus. Basically it comes down to HV has a 1-2 and maybe 3 punch. The Cougars have a 1-2-3-4 and maybe 5. There is the difference. If Central's coach don't blow it I see a late pull away for the Cougars and they win by 10. I'll be there to see it happen!!!!!!!!!!
