  1. I've not been on here in awhile, but I saw this post and felt the need to respond. I think pioneer09 beat me to it as far as why this post is wrong, but I had to say something as well. First off, why does it matter whether anyone on our team plays travel or not? For the record, we did some, just not year 'round because we all didn't have the time or money too. Some of us simple country boys have to work when school's not in, etc. Second off, our "group of scrubs" that you're implying about, were "good enough" to go to the Final Four of the state a few years ago. And all of our rec league all-stars were able to come together and do this while in the mean time, a couple of guys picked up all-state honors. I will say in your defense, that our style of play might be different from most everyone else's as most play a strictly possession game, while Warren Co. has long been known for its long balls and track meets. But like the old saying goes, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". and altho this "style" might tick others off, it has produced A LOT of wins over the years. and just don't make fun of Warren Co. b/c they don't have M'boro or some other big city name. I know I have the upmost respect for blackman, as well as both oakland and r'dale. blackman is a good team, and for the record, they're far from "owning" us yet. We got them their first few years, and they've gotten us back the last two, altho last year's game should've been a tie. way too much stoppage time was put back on( i was a SR. last year), but tahts for another post. Look forward to hearing back from you.
  2. marrital situation was a lot of it. He felt the "drama" around him was having a negative influence he didn't want to teach to his kids. Real nice guy in an extremely tough situation. Shame he has to take so much grief b/c of his moron of an ex-wife. As far as replacements, WC must step outside the box. There is a guy or two who live in WC, but don't coach currently, that could be good ones. As far as the Bobby Luna deal, his name has surfaced, but I assume the moron "powers-that-be" will not give him another go-round, though it would be obvious they should since he's such a great coach. This would also probably bring one of his old players and former Pioneer Ryan Smith, who is an assistant at Gallatin, back to his home as well, and I'm sure he'd love to be there. Who are some people that you all have heard could be interested? As in the assistants who would be looking for their shot?
  3. The original question. Who does everyone think will win the district this season?
  4. Don't know about great individuals, but there are several guys on both White Co. and Warren Co.'s freshman teams who can play. Those two teams were playing for the freshmen district title this year, w/ Warren Co. winning. (yes, this is the district w/ Siegel, Oakland, R'dale, and Lebanon) They have some guys who can shoot and play good fundamental ball. I doubt any of them grow up to be D-1 studs or anything, but they really well as a team, and some of those guys on White co., when left open, can flat shoot. Warren Co. has some really good, quick athletes.
  5. One wonders why so many like to sag so big time playing a game, maybe off the court but not in the game. In pickup games, my experience with wearing some shorts quite a bit bigger than I needed, I found dribbling esp. b/t the legs (which isn't always necessary but can help at times) was almost impossible or atleast not clean b/c they would get caught. As a "new schooler" I would have no problem if the shorts came to RIGHT at the top of the kneecap. That's more than the "daisy's" and not as bad as the "capri looking mid-shinners". Should be a nice intermediate.
  6. I will be man enough to say that I have been one of those doubters after some of that late season slide they were going through. However, I have not questioned them within the district. They were no doubt the best team overall in the district this season and will most likely solidify that tonight against the "regulars" of the district 'ship game. My only doubts were about Siegel in the big scheme of things(sub-state and state) which I will still stick by for now, but will definately be interested to see if they prove me wrong (and it would be ok if they did, seeing how I am a district 7-aaa fan). Otherwise, Siegel tonight, but closer than the experts think!
  7. come on gator, in the spirt of rivalry you can't do that, haha, atleast not til post district. However, if Siegel presents the best chance to win at a big level for this district then they would be a good team to get behind to rep. us all well. As for my two cents on this argument, I wasn't there so I don't know. so i don't know if Siegel is guilty of the acquisitions or not, but all i can say is to those who were offended teams will get what they have coming to them in the long run, so it can always come back on them. On the other hand, some teams have 5 good players and that's it, so when they go to the bench, those guys can't do anything the coach asks them, even as simply as hanging on to the ball and killing clock at the end of the game which results in putting the starters back in just to get the game over. I've been on teams as a starter where our night was "over" early in the 4th and what not, and the other guys came in, started playing sloppy and letting the other team back in the game(which i don't think was an issue here as WC never threatened their lead i don't believe), but you catch my drift.
  8. Has Oakland just lost everybody? I know they weren't very good last year, and everyone seems to be picking them towards the bottom again this year. Just three or four years ago, when I was an underclassman, they were the team to beat year in and out. Is it due to the loss of Coach Hardin or are a lot of the guys going to Siegel now? I was just wondering. Also, I hope my ol' pioneers can compete this year. They will be young and I think that 5 spot is legit for now. By the way, if your predictions stand up, or if this C'ville soph. class is good, and they don't get it this year, but let's say the next two, then how about my old coach Hardee? Talk about running it in the district.
  9. Once again, no dissappointment from the gator. This man was able to pull all kinds of stuff like this off in high school for all sorts of things. That is why he was the best engineer for sportsradio 91.3 FM (McMinnville) could ever have. thumb
  10. in 2002, when the Warren Co. Pioneers were a region team, and won 20+ games, that section was awesome! It was the District forerunner to the now Siegel nation. That's the best part of Siegel is now that their team is good, that adds even more fuel to the rivalry b/t them and Warren Co. since both have boasted great student sections at one point. I can tell you as a player on that '02 team, there was nothing more hair-raising than when over a thousand people are up screaming and yelling in a good tight ball game against a very good opponent.
  11. Ah man, tough luck for the WC girls...congrats on a nice career by the seniors. That's a tough way to go out.
  12. Will anybody be updating the games throughout the evening tomorrow night? I was just wondering if there would be someone there giving live updates either by half or quarter or game?
  13. Yes i am, well i'll say originally, I've since moved but I talk to one of your "girls" quite often.
  14. man, leave for a few hours and miss all of the fun, huh? haha... but gator is right, this whole thing got just a bit WELL QUITE A BIT, out of hand, but i must say, i'm def. in for the alternative to the game.... thumb
  15. MAN!! you talk to your mom with that mouth? I'm sure she wouldn't appreciate you dissing such lovely young ladies like that. I guess the name (hooligan) fits well. (P.S. I know you were kidding, so no need to get defensive or anything)
  16. ok, well thanks for answering my question. I was just wondering. I'm obviously not a plus-member so I wasn't aware of the UT sections, etc. Are non-plus remembers even allowed to read those types of posts or it is exclusive? j/w and thanks in advance.
  17. Yeah, he's good at things like that. I'm only taking a little friendly poke at one of my fellow Warren Countians. I know gator real well. You can say we used to work together sort of. that is why i understand what he's saying when he talks about his job being boring.
  18. haha, it's cool...i was only kidding anyways...i have reason to believe, no wait, I KNOW, that your job may not be too much fun so i can understand.
  19. Gatorbait, when did you turn into mr. coacht, you've been quick to jump on everyone's posts regarding district 7-aaa. I think someone is growing powerhungry. haha
  20. I was just wondering why the Buzz post got deleted, it is b/c it talks about one specific college and that is against the rules? I tried to make it a recruiting perspective from TN high school bball players is why I'm asking. Thanks. By the way, you can delete this once it's answered. Thank you.
  21. Where are the M'boro people at to report? I was wondering what their thoughts were. But it does sound good that the Warren Co./Cookeville teams look to be good again as always.
  22. If Hobbsie is a girl, then I think I know her, and if so, then I might have a guess on who siegelsGARBAGE is, but there only assumptions and I won't violate the giving away of names *unofficial* rule on here.
  23. Siegel will get this one. Tough for teams like Warren Co. to get the #1 seed twice in three games. But this game will test the character of Siegel because after this the road will not be easy if they want to make a serious run.
  24. I was just wondering from 1-8, what most people were thinking the district will look like. I know several key seniors graduated from Blackman and Warren Co. and I was wondering how this would effect the "change of power" in the district.
