  1. Why do most football fans (and media as well) never seem to credit the defense with an offensive turnover? The overwhelming comment about turnovers is as if they were unforced. Rarely is that the case. If a fumble occurs, it is usually caused by a hard hit or a well done punch out...if an interception occurs it is usually caused by a defender putting pressure on the QB or a defensive back who just beat the receiver to the ball. Turnovers are not always GIFTS...they are usually EARNED and should be respected as such.
  2. slick...sounds like we are more alike than not. lol As you know, 'homecoming' scares the beejeebies out of coaches---and enlightened fans as well. Let's enjoy the game, win lose or draw. It is a bunch of high school kids after all. (and did dhs actually bring 'soiree' to this board? holy cow!)
  3. lol Slick you are funny if you think I am unable to read between the lines of your posts. Most folks may not detect your sarcastic and acerbic wit. For example: your reference to my optimistic view of the team by sarcastically calling them the "Armagedon of West Tennessee" (Armageddon, btw) and another poke at my writing style by saying "perhaps I should not call it a show how about an 'exposition of his running/manuevering talent" (maneuvering btw). I get you, so have your own bless (blessed btw) day.
  4. Yes slick, 51.3 points per game...and yes it could have been more I assume---if not for pulling 1st string for at least half of two games and a third of another--plus the mercy rule clock running, which I don't agree with anyway. No I don't work for the newspaper, I just wanted to balance the 'only johnny' posts which are typically posted with more detailed information. My apologies if I bored you with mostly proper grammar and few misspelled words. Reload away DHS.
  5. Gee as much as I like to debate I really can't find anything off with your predictions there. Looks pretty spot on. Barring injuries---I'd be surprised to see anything different.
  6. fair enough---not comparing jalen and johnny---apples and oranges. just saying the hype was similar.
  7. dhstennis and the others worried about 'so much talk about jones'....that's the nature of the game and if your comments are an to attempt to generate some in-locker-room problems. won't happen. This team is tight and they know JJ is (and will continue to) get most of the attention. Pretty sure everytime Beech played, Jalen Hurd was mentioned quite a bit in the press, on forums, etc. The fact is that when there is a star running back, and surely you know this, it opens up the game for everyone else---yes there are other great players who get to shine--the fullback spot rotates Kamau Caldwell, Kordell Smith & (watch this kid) freshman Jordan Branch who all gain punishing yardage everytime they touch the ball...Trey Johnson comes in for Jones, and is a strong speedster as well...tight ends J. C. MacLin and Will Rigby have caught passes crucial to drives...DeShaun Pickens is another speedster at WR who has had several just off his fingertips--he will get his soon. That offensive line is big, strong, and experienced with Cody Richardson & Landon Kail leading the way. QB Cade Parlow is a great decision maker, good passer, and is very capable of running as well. On special teams, Jones, Pickens and Jeremiah Nance (who runs a 4.41 40) will blister you on punt and kick off returns. Kicker Nolan Porter puts kickoffs in the end zone a lot, and his punts can bury you deep. On the defensive side of the ball, MacLin and Humberto Villareal will beat up both tight ends and the QB is in trouble more often than he likes...Casey Richardson has become a beast on the defensive line and by halftime his opponent is ready to quit. Linebackers Kamau Caldwell, who would be atop the area tackling totals but was pulled at halftime 2 of the games, and 3rd quarter in another is quick and aggressive. Smith is his partner and equally quick. Rigby does a great job shutting down the outside. The secondary features the athletic Nance, Pickens, and a smart & disciplined Sloan Leath. Clark Scott is another smart athlete who plays both sides...plus other players who are doing a great job at their position(s). So yes...lots more weapons than just Jones......and with good to great players in all of the key positions----every team will find it is no fun to play Crockett this year. It's not hype---you/they will see.
  8. yeah heatwave, cofo is driving down the interstate looking in the rear view mirror.
  9. Yeah...416 total yards offense vs 170....and 43-13...despite Milan's usual 'clock malfunction' tricks, etc....now THAT is the definition of a butt whoopin' for those who were confused earlier. How's that crow tastin'?
  10. lol I never said you had no class. But if my penalty from the almighty BPM is that I can no longer 'address' you.....gee I don't know how I can proceed in this life...but I will do my best. Good riddance.
  11. lol you guys should take a break from patting each other on the back...sounds like a bro-mance. good luck tonight and let's see what's on here tomorrow.
  12. "No Milan fans have called anybody names?"...LOL you must be blind to the comments, in this thread alone: Crickett County, Crotchett County, and the suggestion of a bro-mance because we have a poster who is a fan of our (one of three) Pre-season All State players. Don't start pretending you are somehow the victim of an unwarranted attack....it just sounds silly. If you get called a name because of your behavior---whose fault is it? Maybe you should alter the behavior. The primary point: your suggestion that a lopsided score only accumulated by last minute turnovers somehow constitutes a 'whoopin' was inaccurate. If two boxers battle it out for 11 rounds and the scorecards show a virtual tie---then a TKO punch in the last minute does not qualify as a whoopin. Regarding the game...if Milan's 1st crew played the 1st half, ran up a 33-0 score and CC only scored their 16 vs the 2nd string in the 2nd half...that's another story and I'd be inclined to agree to a whoppin' description. But that is NOT what happened. Your suggesting otherwise only dilutes any other opinion you present.
  13. "I don't care when the td's came..." blah blah blah thanks for properly proving my point. arrogant punk fans.
  14. You're right, I can say what I want, and you can say what you want. If you click the youtube button there you can watch the 2nd quarter and see at the end of halftime it was 9-6 CC...and you can watch the 3rd and see at the end of the 3rd quarter it was 16-13 CC...then watch the 4th quarter and you'll see it was exactly as I said...with 4:55 remaining, CC still had the lead. It was a good closely matched game...my only point is that it was no full game 'whipping' as some have suggested. CC had the edge in the game but was overcome by turnovers and big pass plays. You know there is a reason Milan fans are so hated...you all think that it's because of your track record and that we're all jealous.....no it's because you are, for the most part, arrogant fans who can never seemingly have a decent level headed conversation. The proper way to discuss last season's game would be to say 'yes it was a hard fought contest, and we took advantage of turnovers late in the game.' That would be accurate and fair. Of course...that won't happen.
  15. U guys talk about last year's game as if it was a Milan blowout. Crockett had the lead with just 5 minutes remaining and had dominated the line of scrimmage throughout, with Milan's only big plays coming by pass thanks to CC's weak secondary. All 3 of their scores came with less than 4:55 remaining and all on big plays including a CC fumble in their own territory and an interception in their own territory. Go back and look at the stats for the game, if you can find them, and I guarantee CC was on top everywhere but the scoreboard. So stop with the suggestion that CC was taken to the woodshed during the game. Just not true. Watch it if you like, it's all here:
  16. you guys are really too funny. when you talk about 'milan did this and milan did that'---hopefully what you are referencing is in regard to the tendencies that that particular town has had in the past, based upon heritage, good coaching, and available talent. now THESE particular players weren't even on the teams you're talking about. so the whole 'i don't recall anyone...beating them...after said injuries have healed'---what are you talking about? you're talking nonsense. there was once upon a time that everyone talked about the Dallas Cowboys as if they were omnipotent....and where are they now? things change, and changes are occurring whether you want to believe it or not. additionally, your 'the cavs arent as good as they think they are'---what do you base that upon einstein? let's keep an eye on what happens the next several weeks and if you like, we'll be happy to supply you with a nice coca cola to wash down that crow.
  17. u guys act as if Milan is the only team with injuries etc. EVERY team has injuries...some use it as an easy excuse rather than taking their lumps. I don't recall Milan's cronies ever following a victory celebration with any acknowledgement that their opposition was dealing with injuries. Crockett's pre-season All State running back is on the sidelines---where is Milan's pre-season All-State players? Oh that's right, they don't have any. It is amusing to see how Milan responds to a down season by (1) screaming injuries (2) poking fun at opposition coaches and (3) suggesting the only way other teams win is if they have better players on the field---(newsflash: that's how it is with most every football match-up!) Oh and I'd better not leave out (4)--and here it comes--time for you to start talking about how many gold balls you have etc---good for you, but not all of us are falling for the 'shiny object' trick. We're talking about the here & now. Time for you to take your butt whippin' like a lot of other teams have from your previous good seasons---take it like a man, not like a wimp.
  18. 41-0 at halftime. CC 1st team didn't play 2nd half. clock ran. final: 54-6
