  1. They have a really big WR that's no joke. #23 can't be taken lightly either. Offense will score. Defense is flawed, but the Cards are a gritty team. They'll compete and play hard. Is Beech offense the same from Jalen's days? Are y'all that team just runs it all the time?

You have to be in my head to understand what I'm talking about ,they haven't  played there best game  yet but if they do it would make sense what I said about the steroids thing, but the schedule was written down in the football locker room SSH was one as well was Oakland

If Haywood hasn't played their "best game" yet, then they won't play their best game for the remainder of the season. That's just me being honest. There's no such thing as "perfect" football when you're dealing with High School kids. Honestly, I think they have played their "perfect" game, you just don't noticed it.

I love it when we are the under dog, been this way they whole playoffs, apperantly West Tennesseans are the only people who play good football.....

West Tennessee has been pretty good this year but we haven't had the history and tradition compared to Middle and East Tennessee schools.

Lausanne will win D2-AA, but that's it. Huntingdon was suppose to win it in 1A, but they lost and all we have is Lake County which the Falcons are underdogs to Cornersville. 2A is UC, but I'll pick CA over the Tornadoes. 3A is Covington, but they'll have to play perfect in order to stay with Pearl Cohn. 4A is Haywood. Brighton is underdogs to Beech, that's 5A, and the winner of Oakland/Maryville will win it in 6A.

Also, a lot of our teams would get destroyed to Middle/East Tennessee teams. We also don't have a lot of 5A and 6A schools which hurts our perception a lot.

  4. UC fans be like:

"We have a very good team, we like to run the football and get 3-4 yards, and whenever the ball carrier is tackled, we like to do it again, and again, and again, and again. And then we will throw a pass to keep the defense honest."

"We have a good field (they really do). We like to paint it purple, and red, and blue, but this year, we painted it green."

"We have a very good band. Last weekend, they played at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis and finished 6th of out 22 bands. And when our color guard throws the flags in the air, we let the win carry them and not make an attempt to catch them. But we have a good band."

"If Union City loses this game, they lost it, the other team didn't win."

"POUND THAT BALL!!! - says the 60 year old man that played left guard in high school."

In all seriousness I do think Columbia Academy will win the game if they take advantage of offensive possessions. UC's defense isn't that special.

(I'm also not trolling UC, just hopefully having a good sense of humor)

I think Union City will be Champ.  I have a question for anybody that has seen football in multiple states.  How do we stack up compared to other states at the 2a level?  I've only seen 2a here, and Kentucky.  Are we below average, average, or above average as far as our top 2a teams?  Is Kentucky 2a just that strong, or Is it that we are below average?  We seen how strong Mayfield is, but out of the 4 teams left up there I'd put them at 3rd best.  They will get killed by Christian Academy of Louisville friday, and if they do pull that one out they ain't beating Danville in the finals.  Glasgow is the only final 4 team in Kentucky they are probably better than.  So is Kentucky just a great 2a state, or are we playing poor 2a ball in Tennessee?

2A is weak, but the state of Tennessee is weak as a whole.

Only reason I said Over is peabodypride hit the nail on the head early in the year. You have to be up 14 going into the 4th to win. Not saying it can’t be done though.

There's a formula to beat UC and that is to score (well, duh) but if a team is playing UC, they have to maximize the offensive possessions. I won't necessarily say that being up 14 in the 4th quarter is a great idea (It is), but if you're up by 14 in the 4th against UC, then you're putting the Tornadoes into a passing situation. If they run it for 2-4 yards, clock will tick.

First time I've ever been beaten by a team that never drove the ball inside our 20 ! Congrats Cville is a very hard nosed hard hitting team. Great defense. It took a great defense from y'all and the stripes to shut the Mustangs down. Not quite as bad as Nashville Christian last year but close.

Accept the loss. Hate seeing posters partially blaming the refs when they lose. Y’all missed 2 extra points as well.

Brighton needs to hire a coach that is able to build a program.   The program now is in a state of disarray.   Coaches are arguing in front of the children.   The program has the best weight room in West Tennessee and is not utilized.   Plus it's basketball season so we all know what that means.   Henry County 72 Brighton 10.

    Being “THAT GUY.”

Brighton fans will hope they continue to score as many points during the basketball season...which will start for them on Saturday. Sad thing for Brighton is that they've always had the athletes, just no coaching. Henry County cruises to the semi's. Just hope the lack of competition on this side of the bracket doesn't hurt the Patriots. HC 69 Brighton 14

    I don’t have a problem

The only question tonight will be at what point will the clock start running?    Basketball season has begun and that is when it shuts down at B-Town.   Brighton did not have a 100 people on the home side at its last game and I had to sit and watch that disaster.    I'm ready for it to be over and thankfully today it will be.

My son and I will be pursuing his college football opportunities on our own with NCSA because we know he will not get any help from the staff at Brighton!!!!

    HC 77    Brighton 13

This YANKER hates to hear that but it will not matter tonight.  This is the easiest path to the semifinals that this YANKER could imagine.  The Henrylanders will not be tested tonight.....running clock in the third quarter.  HC can win by as much as they want.  The score shall be.......HC 55 - Brighton 14!  I AM THE WORLD'S ONLY LIVING YANKER!!!!!!!

    Hate to be....

Which coach "down the highway" are you talking about? People in Milan say they want the offense opened up. Swenson and Bowling are the exact opposite of that. Great coaches and I hope Swenson stays forever.

I was referring to Vowell, but he is not an offensive coach. Though, I do think he's ready to be a head coach again. However, if Milan fans wants an offensive coach that'll run a spread offense (if you want to open the offense up) then Blake Butler could be a guy to come to my mind, but I don't think Milan fans would want Blake Butler, coming from 2A via multiplier that's content with 7-8 wins, to a 3A school that wants deep playoff success. Plus TCA pretty much has to run a spread offense because their lineman are the same size as their receivers. After that, there's not many guys I can think of because West Tennessee had a below average year in football.

  13. South Gibson has one good year and defeated a Trezevant team that is at or near rock bottom with the current status of their program, and now we're going to sit here and say that South Gibson is a winning program? There's no consistency going on in Medina. Besides, if a kid move to South Gibson, that's a big mistake.

The Milan Bulldogs will be fine, but I truly believe Kevin Ward won't leave the Big A. I think they'll get an assistant who's down the road and has a big game tomorrow night.

  14. Hey man, South Side is just glad to be in the quarterfinals. This team was terrible for years, and somehow they're in the quarters. Congrats to the Hawks, they can win. Won't shock me at all. But whoever wins this Friday better celebrate extremely hard. I mean it.

Can South Side's QB find a way to throw the ball effectively down the field will be the key for the Hawks.

Besides Ward, what about Swenson, Comer or Bowlin?  Give me some time and I can think of another half dozen.  Milan is one of the most coveted jobs in West Tennessee.

Ward would have to deal with Haywood each year and he knows that. However, Crockett is still a good job where going to Milan, may not make it that much better. Swenson, he is in the perfect situation where he is at. Bowling, he is getting everything he wants. But it’s up to him if he wants to move to Milan or not. I know one guy that should be considered, he is just down the highway. Just down the highway.

The refs were to involved in the game.  i would give them a C for the night and that is just average

Agreed. Sideline warning on the opening kickoff against Adamsville, then another sideline warning against Peabody when the Tide were at the 5 yard line heading into the end zone, when Peabody’s sideline was obviously in their “box.” Really don’t know why the refs were looking back at Peabody’s sideline at the point. I’ve noticed a fast game as well. First quarter lasted 20 minutes and that first half lasted about 45-50 minutes. I’ve also noticed the ref on Peabody’s sideline was on the field during a pass play, and Peabody’s QB scrambled back and threw it to the WR at the Peabody’s sideline. Just thought the ref was out of position and could interfere on that play, even though there might not have been a “perfect” position.

I also noticed the white hat blowing his whistle and doing that circle for the clock to start, he would look back at the clock to make sure the clock would start. Made me realized they wanted to get in and get out. Just thought they hurried everything. Game ended a little after 9.

South Gibson is a relatively "new" team...their "they beat them" moments didn't necessarily involve beating a superior opponent, rather beating teams that they traditionally wouldn't beat. Lexington was a good win...one that nobody saw coming, but Lexington also lost to Liberty, and wasn't a very good team at all early this season. Bolivar had high expectations with some talented players, but to be realistic they were just above average, and Milan underachieved all season. Still the Hornets won those games when expected to lose by many, and have gained confidence from them. That is what I meant by dang...they beat them!!! Their schedule had some tough opponents, and that will help, but getting the monkey off their back with Milan was probably their signature win...you can't always figure "best win" on paper.

Agree, a lot of people had South Gibson at 4-6 this year, simply because they couldn't win a playoff game and a "big/significant" game. They started the season with a win over Lexington (good team, not great), Bolivar team which was a great win, not anymore, and the private school in Nashville which no one from West Tennessee knows about them, nor cares. So, it actually was a pretty good year for the Hornets compared to previous seasons.

Glad I was wrong about the winner of the turnover battle winning the game. Lexington has some good athletes for sure but the one dimensional offense hurts them, in my opinion. Springfield kept shooting themselves in the foot in the first half with the turnovers and really stopped themselves more than the Tigers stopped them. Lexington hurt themselves with some untimely false starts in the second half which got them behind the chains starting out drives also.

Pretty cool analogy about Lexington with what I've been saying all year. One dimensional offense kills them when they're in the 4th quarter and losing. They are falling into the norm of "6-8 wins in the regular season, losing in the 2nd round." Now, I will say the Tigers got better as the season went on. So theoretically, they actually didn't have a bad year. It's just that they are in this rut where they can't find a way to get into the semis, and they still have that one dimensional offense that probably won't go away.
