The Score Predictor has Covington 41 Bolivar 34
The Sonny-Moore power rankings show Covington at 126, Bolivar at 113. The difference is 13, but add 3 for home field advantage. That puts the spread at 10 points.
Covington is on a definite roll, but I'm sure Bolivar would like to beat us again. How do y'all see it?
If Covington was playing for something, they would this one by more then 10 points, but since they aren't, I don't know how to judge this. Something tells me that Covington starters won't play all 48, more backups. Even, for both teams. This game is pretty much meaningless in terms of seeding.

Milan will find a way to win this game. Yes, the Bulldogs are streaky as they can all get out, but Morris will find a way to beat SGC. South Gibson is only 1-6 against Milan, and that win was determined by one point. Don't think this would be any different. Yes, Milan lost to Lexington, but the Tigers are probably the 4th hottest team in West Tennessee right now behind Huntingdon, Covington, and Haywood County. If South Gibson and Lexington play each other tomorrow night, Lexington will win. Hard to judge South Gibson right now because their wins over the past month came against teams that are under .500 and they get trounced by Covington while Milan lost to the Chargers in OT.
Scott Stidham needs this game more than any coach out there, and based off track record, odds go against him.

If the strength of schedule goes into this, then DeCourtney Reed from Haywood County should win this easily. The Tomcats beat 5A Henry County, which the Patriots are 5-3 with two of three losses coming to Beech and 6A Germantown which they are both (Beech and Germantown) remain undefeated.
Haywood lost to Briarcrest Christian by 1 point at home (Briarcrest scored a TD at the end and got a 2 point conversion to win it). The Saints are 7-1 with a loss to Christian Brothers (who are still undefeated)
Haywood also lost to Memphis University School (MUS) who are 4-4 but their losses came to Briarcrest, South Panola (MS) which is normally a powerhouse in MS, Montgomery Bell in 2 OT's, and Seminole Ridge (FL), a Florida team, that's all you need to know.
Briarcrest and MUS are both D-2AAA schools
They also beat Crockett County which are 7-1 which they obviously have a loss to Haywood.
Quickest athlete I have ever seen and he has the ability to go into 5th gear when he sees that hole.
130 carries, 18 touchdowns (he had a 5 TD performance against Crockett County), 9.7 yards per carry, and 1,264 yards (200 yard game against Crockett County).
Steve Hookfin doesn't schedule weak opponents and I am not a Haywood fan, but that's all you need to know.

Recieving team keeps the ball, doesn't matter if the ball is blocked or not. If a member on the receiving touches the ball before the 1st down marker, they keep it whether if the kicking teams lands on it or not. Now, if a member on the receiving possessed the ball and then fumbles it and the kicking team falls on it, it is K ball because the ball was already possessed.
If the receiving team touches the ball past the first down marker and the kicking team falls on it, the kicking team gets the ball where it is possessed.

Agree, that’s why the bias and lack of homework is noticable when it comes to Mr. Football/Basketball. None of the Jackson Sun guys can probably name a Lake County player, and it’s no knock on wood at the guys at the Jackson Sun, I think they do the best they can with the resources they have. But in the fall of 2015 is when I noticed Mr. Football being a joke. Emmitt Gooden from Haywood had about 75-80 tackles and won Mr. Football, but Markevous McKinney from Jackson North Side had 110+ tackles and wasn’t mentioned. At that time, Gooden was a Miss. St. commitment and McKinney was getting looked at by Bethel and Maryville, but turned them down to head to APSU and be a normal student. I will say that Gooden was a d-end and McKinney was a linebacker, but the Indians beat the Tomcats that year and went deeper in the playoffs, but he wasn’t even a finalist. The biased and lack of homework comes out when it comes to Mr. Football/Basketball winners.

This is the reason why I hate the “top 1A back” and this and that. The bias comes out. Huntingdon fans will root for their guy, the Lake County fans will vote for their guy, and the people that live in Middle and East Tennessee will vote for their player that is on their team or near their team. And the people don’t do their homework.

Battle of the two best running backs in West Tennessee, battle of the two best teams in West Tennessee. I would love to see this one in person, but I can’t. Good news is that there will probably be a rematch in November. Don’t know who to pick, I think this is the week that Crockett will finally miss the presence of Xavier Billings. I can see both teams winning, but I don’t think this game will be determined by 2 points. Someone will edge away.

I know Germantown hasn’t been the same, but this year they’re still undefeated and at this point in the season, can’t take those “undefeated” teams lightly. I just wish Briarcrest, MUS, and/or Christian Brothers find a way to take that next step. I would love for one of those three to be on the Brentwood Academy, MBA, Baylor/McCallie level, but they aren’t.

In 6A it will more than likely be Whitehaven and a much improve team in Germantown that will battle in the week 11 in Whitehaven. If I am not mistaken, the Red Devils are still undefeated, while Whitehaven only have 1 loss, and that was to Lausanne. They'll more than likely meet again in November, I do believe Germantown and Whitehaven are better than Arlington and Cordova. If either one advances to semifinal game, more than likely Brentwood or Cane Ridge will be the opponent. Which will be tough.
In 5A, it's Munford (if you consider Mumford being Memphis). That's it. But they'll have to battle Clarksville Northeast or Henry County in the quarters, and if they advanced, Beech or Summit will more than likely greet them on Black Friday. Ridgeway is simply down which has always been a powerhouse. But there's not much in 5A for Memphis teams.
In 4A, no one from Memphis. I would say Memphis East but they have been little dissapointing this year, so there matchup with Independence will tell me a lot more about them. Honestly, we are all waiting on Crockett County and Haywood (game 1) to matchup in Alamo on Friday. I will say this, whoever wins the Haywood and Crockett County game in November, will go to Cookeville. But neither the Tomcats and Cavaliers are "Memphis" teams.
In 3A, it's Raleigh Egypt and I do believe the Pharros will go far in November. Melrose and Trezevant hasn't been the same either as both teams have to deal with coaching changes and Trezevant losing Richardson who's making an impact at UCF.
In 2A, it's no one
and 1A, no one as well, those are all the academies (MASE, MAHS, Middle College, etc,) and they don't have it.
When you're dealing with Memphis teams, you don't know who you're getting from at the Middle School level to play for your team. That's why you pretty much see teams have strides where they're really good for 5 years, but they are down simply because they don't have the quality of reinforcement coming in. Memphis East and Melrose will be prime examples of that, especially Melrose.

You just had to throw that in! But all the “dominance” from Memphis schools are teams that are in higher classifications than 1A and 2A.

Wrong (in a way). In your second paragraph you said "if Covington beats SGC, then lose to Bolivar, then Covington, Milan, and SGC would all have one region loss." True in a way, but if you're going forward to Week 11, then either SGC or Milan would have 2 losses because they haven't played each other. They play each other on the last weekend.

The playoffs are "water down" and will be "water down" until the TSSAA does something about it, which I doubt. Having 9 classifications is too much. Spreading teams out left and right. I think it is Region 7-3A or Region 8-3A (the one that Fayette-Ware is in) that only have four teams. Last year, having Booker T Washington playing at Dresden and having Middleton playing at Union City in the opening round of the playoffs is totally uncalled for. No disrespect to Middleton and BTW. No disrespect to Huntingdon as well, but having Nashville Christian heading to D2 helps their chances a lot, also with Dresden losing 20+ seniors and Wayne County losing Rice as QB. Winning or going deep in the playoffs is not as deserving anymore as it sounds. West Tennessee (outside of Memphis) is having an awful of football. Our "Brand" is just not good. Maybe the Z-Plan was a good idea. Who knows. Sometimes, the grass isn't greener on the other side, it's green where you water it. Also, teams play a "game" within the "game."

Milan has been a tad dissapointing this. However, they are a few plays away from being 5-1, with the loss to Huntingdon (which, if they don't make it to Cookeville, I'll be shocked).
Bolivar's defense is struggling despite offense scoring 900 points a game. Yes, they hold South Side to 7 points, but I'm going to buy in on Bolivar because of one game. South Side is significantly better, but they're inconsistent.
Covington has met my expectations this year and beyond. Winning at Milan in OT is a good win, don't care about the slight drop Milan has. I have Covington winning this region, right now.
South Gibson has been the most surprised team this year, but I found out why they are and I'm not surprised at all.
Right now: Covington, SGC, Bolivar, Milan.
but there's a lot of important games left. Especially Bolivar/Milan and Covington/Bolivar.

Got to start off with Patrick Willis.
The big powerful running back that played at Henry County in the years 2008-2010. Forgot his name, but he was a big and strong running back.
Johnny Jones from Crockett County
Avery Williamson from Milan
Cordarrian Richardson from Trezevant (currently plays at UCF)
Andrew Goldsmith from TCA (I'll put his senior stats in there but he was also a QB)
Zaveon Johnson from Bruceton as well. He was pretty much all the Tigers had and he didn't dissapoint.
Cordarrius Mann from North Side. He had a few 2,000 plus yards as a Indian and currently holds the most rushing yards in Bethel's history.
Chase Hayden from St. George's. Mr. Football winner and plays at Arkansas.
Devin Bush from Liberty
Courtney Bush from Liberty
Mine as well say Steven Bush from Liberty.
Theddus Medford from Dyer County. A underrated running back.
Tony Pollard from East

Stats alone is the best fit. But teams will utilize their players more than others. You always see posters say "and he doesn't play a lot of 2nd half either" just to sweetened the deal. Your stats are your stats.
Team record? Probably helps but it is misleading. Huntingdon is 10-0, which is very deserved, but their opponents combined record I believe is 40-49. There, I said it. Can't hate when it's a fact.
Character? This is Mr. Football, this isn't Mr. Personality or Mr. Niceness. Just because someone that has nice character doesn't deem them as a favorite over somebody.
Career? 4A, 5A, and 6A players have less of an opportunity to play on the field than 1A and 2A players. A good 1A and 2A player that has nice stats will see limited amount of playing time if he was at a 5A or 6A school with more quantity amount of players and the quality amount of players. That's not fair to the players that play for 4A, 5A, and 6A schools.
Grade level? Don't think so. "Oh, and he's only a freshman" doesn't sweetened the deal. Two players that have identical stats, one is a junior and one is a senior. Are they really going to decide Mr. Football because one person is younger/older than the older than the other? I hope not.
