  1. Not so sure I would call this a easy win for either team...but a win for either would be a big step toward a district title.  I've been looking at the teams each have played, Sequoyah played Tellico and Walker Valley ,a combined record of 3-1. Central played McMinn County and Boyd Buchanon, a combined record of 0-4.  We could go deeper, McMinn County coach said this season would be his biggest rebuilding challenge in 26 years.  Of course other facts are Sequoyah graduated nearly a whole team of starters, Central has a lot of players back from last years team and this is where the Chargers should have the edge.  All I'm saying is, this game may be a closer than you think, district games are huge and this one should be a good one!

  2. Was there a "quote", score?

(Trying to remember), Seymour scored once on both Sequoyah and Powell. Sequoyah scored a couple of times versus Powell and a couple against Seymour and I think Powell scored a couple against Seymour...but like I said before, more like practice, but a lot of power football not much passing.

  3. How did the Powell vs. Sequoyah scrimmage go?  Conflicting reports.

It turned out to be a three way scrimmage involving Seymour, Sequoyah and Powell.  Varsity on one end and JV on the other end.  I think they got about 10 plays from the 40 for down and distance and then 3 plays from the 5.  More like practice than a scrimmage, trying to work the bugs out.  Very competitive and hard hitting action.

  4. Actually, the only hires that are official at this point other than Allen are the holdovers from the previous staff:  DL Rusty Smith, OL Larry Neely, and RB Charles Birden.  The rest are just speculation at this point until Knox County School HR approves the recommended candidates.

That said, IF Plemmons becomes part of the staff after HR does their due diligence he won't be coaching the OL.  He'll be on the other side of the line of scrimmage - on the defensive staff.

    Thx for the info HTV.

  5. Don't agree with the second best

I hear ya DevilMan, and it really blows that the best two cannot meet for the Championship but in the eyes of the record book...etc...

Wonder what the playoff matchups would have look like if you list all 32 teams then it would be 1 vs 32, 2 vs 31, 3 vs 30...etc...there would be a whole lot of traveling, but then we would have the two best teams in the championship game.  Or make it a little more sensible by dividing the state and let 1 vs 16, 2 vs 15, 3 vs 14...etc...just a thought

  6. The rankings mean nothing. What did 11 people vote? Noone from west has seen the east and vice versa.

So true, last team standing is champion, the team that loses is second best.  This is our playoff system, make it work, play your game, win or go home

  7. No disrespect taken, I think everyone knows who the top teams are, kind of a good news/bad news deal.  And I'm sure everyone will say who ever wins next week out of quad 1 will be your state Champions.  But I'm a firm believer of "Anyone can be beat on any giving day", and everyone matches up differently.

  8. Hey Fulton fans, just a question cause I'm curious and I haven't got to see the Falcons play, I have read many good things about what they do but if you could pinpoint one area that could use some improvement, where would it be?  I know, some folks will say their perfect, but even so, what could be a little better?

  9. With the success Chattanooga Central is having, you really do need someone with experience to pick up where Coach Allen left off.  From my understanding, the coaching supplement in Chattanooga is pretty good, so yeah, it could attract some names.  One that comes to mind is Coach Moser, play caller at Sweetwater, who has had plenty of experience as a head coach at Midway.  Actually their are 4 former head coaches on that staff.  Mike Martin, formally of East Ridge and Meigs County, also could be a nice fit.  Mike Zeller, could be a name that pops up, he turned around the Lenoir City program, 18 years head coaching experience.  LC has made the playoffs 4 years running and that's in a district with Maryville and West.  Good luck with your search, I hope the right choice will be made.
