  1. Off topic, but I wanted to share something with you guys. 43 years ago, the entire Marshall University football team and most of their coaching staff died in a plane crash. Most of us have seen the movie, We Are Marshall, or heard about it through the years. Today, I had the opportunity to attend the Memorial Ceremony that has taken place EVERY year on the day of the crash. It was an amazing site to see siblings and parents of the players, and sons and daughters of the coaching staff and administration at the ceremony today. I have a lot of respect for Marshall after all that they went through. "From the Ashes We Rose" Just a very neat experience that they continue to observe every year on the anniversary of a tragic event in the schools history. Very impressed that they keep the memory alive when we seem to push tradition aside these days.
  2. Dumb comment, I'll take it on the chin like a man.
  3. I know, I know, I know, I WANT YOU! This thread is much better after we got past that comment by that jerk "radio mouth" made...
  4. Congrats to QB Kyle Akin of TCA on his Mr. Football Finalist selection. We've been keeping up on the east side of the state. Good luck in Nashville.
  5. Great article by Ben Garrett of the Independent Herald in Oneida on Coach Brewster. It says a lot about a man's character that nobody has a bad word about this man, anytime, but especially this week. We're lucky to have you Coach, and on the other side, I know you are sorely missed by many. http://www.ihoneida.com/2013/11/gcas-brewster-difficult-but-exciting-to-face-former-team/ Hope the link works, if not, copy and paste it in your browser. Class act by the Oneida paper.
  6. Brother or related some other way?
  7. Another question for you guys. Is Cole West the brother of or related to Dylan West #80 that plays for the Big Orange? I saw that they put him on scholarship, I believe. Great accomplishment for that young man and the Oneida program to have a D1 on scholarship.
  8. Thanks for the info. It has to be tough on him, playing with the club, but it doesn't seem to bother him. He was quick vs Tellico and will run the jet sweep both directions. I do remember Mark Packer calling him the one armed bandit on TV, funny.
  9. We were all treated very well, as several posts about visiting Oneida have said, on this thread and others. I witnessed Coach Brewster with Oneida folks coming up to him all night, talking to him. Great respect for a good man, I was glad I got to see it happen to him. He's an Oneida guy, that's home, he just Coach's at Grace now. Where you were raised never changes, that will always be home.
  10. How did # 2 break his arm / wrist? When did it happen, etc. ? I know he had the "club" on vs GB.
  11. There's a contact button on the website, if you can email a picture of the helmet to that address, he will try to format it and get it on there. I will text him to look for it. He tries to be as accurate as possible. By the way, I checked out oneidafootball.com, you guys have a top notch site. I've looked at several other teams this year, that one is the best I've seen.
  12. Just saw checked it out myself. Should the helmet be the one on your profile pic?
  13. I don't know how all that stuff works, but it sounded the same way to me. We will broadcast the game Friday on 92.3FM in West Knoxville, pre game is at 6:30. I know you guys will bring everybody that is physically able to make the trip. For those that have relatives that live out of the area, we will also stream the game Live on www.gcafootball.org , just click on the RamRadio link.
  14. Mark Packer reported on Twitter that the TV game this week will be South Doyle @ Anderson County. That was this weekend, it could have changed, but I would think it's still solid.
  15. We will be wise to dump it short. Cole West is a great athlete and had two long returns vs GB, one went about 90 yds for a TD.
  16. Sorry, I didn't get my full response in before you replied. I only know 2 guys on here.
  17. I didn't know I went anywhere...lol This game will be won on the line of scrimmage. Oneida blocks the counter really well. It's a shell game to figure out where the ball is. Their offense is well tuned, you have to be to run it every down and have the success they've had. This will be a very competitive game. I don't care about size or speed, it's the second round of the TSSAA playoffs, you better show up to play.
  18. The last part of that post has been used for a long time, but in that text, it made me laugh. Good one, that was funny! Not funny like Ray Liotta called out Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, just amusing...
  19. Where you're trying to go with your question wouldn't cause anything but a mess. Coach Brewster is a class act and I can't say enough good things about him and the impact he's had on our staff and kids (not limited to football players). Both staffs want the Win just as bad as their counterparts, I'm sure.
  20. It was $5 for admission and all of the concession money was donated to Seth. This was great for Seth and his family. He was involved in both games with the coin toss and trophy presentations. Another great show of compassion was the presentation of a $500 check from the Bearden Booster Club to Seth on the 50yd line. I don't know if that amount was in the total Raven gave or not. It was a great day.
  21. I've read your posts on here for a long time, just never signed up to post anything until recently. This whole thing seemed out of character for you, but I understand why. You're a competitor and you are protective of your team, school and community. I appreciate the olive branch. You don't owe me an apology, but I appreciate that. I stand by my initial invitation to meet up before the game. It would be my pleasure as well.
  22. Probably for the best. I don't need to waste my time either. Have a safe trip.
  23. There's my essay...lol. CoachT needs a FaceTime button, then we could really get this thing rocking.
  24. It was a back handed jab. You guys have made plenty of jabs at us. When someone from GCA says something or takes a light hearted shot at one of you guys you start the bashing. Knox said it earlier, Grace served their penalty and straightened things out. I stand behind the school with a clear conscience today. Those two years were tough to swallow. It was even tougher for these Seniors that were punished for 2 years over something that they had no control over. You guys won't shed any tears over those kids, but I'm proud of them for staying at Grace and standing behind the best coaching staff I've ever been around. That staff got a huge boost 2 years ago with the addition of one of your boys. I don't look down my nose at anyone, sir, and if we get the chance to meet Friday night, you will shake hands with a hard working, genuine supporter of a school where both of my children have attended since they were 4 yrs old. Blessed to have that opportunity, I can assure you. I'm sure there are a few arrogant individuals at GCA that are as you described. I know most of them that are affiliated with our sports teams, and I can't think of one that fits that description. And I'm not a "radio fellar", they stick an open mike in front of me on Friday nights and we run with it. It's been a fun gig, and one that serves a bunch of GCA followers and visiting teams fans that can't attend the games.
  25. When people pay their debts, do you call them forgiven? I'm not saying what was done years ago was right. It wasn't. I don't think it was done to help the sports team, I think it was done to help the kids. Nevertheless, can't do it. They served their probation, now the slate is clean. It's easier for everyone to say they can't be that good, they're cheating than to admit the fact they're just that good. You're a Liar, a Cheat, and a Thief! Oh, and your momma dresses funny, your sister is ugly and your dog barks too much!
