  1. herd from some sources that its all a smokescreen and the rb is out for longer just puttin it out there think hes trying to make people assume hes playin so thry have to gameplan
  2. maybe hes figured that if 0-10 teams can get in the playoffs then they might take everybody we can call it the state tournament and t$$aa can charge 20 bucks a ticket
  3. t-storms on friday night might play a difference and slow some people down
  4. No problem! Anyone know a good follow on Social Media for AE-Grace?
  5. Would make it a three way tie with AE involved. Head to head would be useless and the next indicator would be overall record. That would tie AE and Rockwood, and because Rockwood has the head to head, they would be Region Champs.
  6. No Wing T on friday night not sure if because of weather conditions or not
  7. Glad we could keep this discussion about OS-Rockwood. Instead we're more focused on being the toughest guy on the internet, an award that wins you nothing. Congratulations, you're all champions today. You are all the worst part of high school athletics.
  8. I guess the statement about "ongoing issues" is what I was referencing in the article. It's very vague and I'm not sure if it's in reference to the actual game or if it's geared towards past instances. I really don't buy that there's nothing they can do about it, but it is what it is at this point. Hate that it happened, but it's a learning point that as high school athletes there are things out of your control and you can either grow from it or quit. I think every athlete has a story about a call that went wrong by this point. Hopefully he'll learn from it, be supportive for his teammates on Friday Night, and put it behind him. "There's not a thing you can do about it," Denton said. "The only thing I can tell you is it was the kid's second foul of the night, and there had been some ongoing issues."
  9. I do feel like this will linger because of how big the game was. Yes, Rockwood lost the game. I will not make any excuses on that front. The score cannot be changed. Would it have been a different game if Jones was still in? Possibly, but you can't speak in hypotheticals. The game is over. The problem is that the call was a bad one, and hopefully there can be some common ground found here. A referee's mistake in the last game shouldn't hamper future weeks. Yes, Jones earned an unsportsmanlike earlier in the game and deserved it, but these comments that Jones "shouldn't have risked it" are hilarious. Risked clapping? Risked celebrating a touchdown in the biggest game of the year? A Grace lineman lifted his QB in the air after the TD in OT, so why wasn't that unsportsmanlike? We expect these kids to be robots on the field, but that's not human nature. Jones served his punishment by watching his team lose to Grace and perhaps a region championship. The comment by the head of officials that there were "past issues" also make it feel like they were eyeing him the entire time. A player's past issues should never affect a current game. I know unfortunately that sometimes it does. Yeah, the kid screwed up the first time and got a deserved penalty, but don't punish him for something that barely any other kid would get penalized for.
  10. im afraid grace wins big if rwood doesnt fix their promblems from last week major problems on defense and grace could expose it
  11. alot of people think that jones is going to be the x factor for rockwood but ill tell you what i think the difference will be jayden woods at fb supposed to rain all week going to be sloppy
  12. Is Fee hurt for Grace? Surprised he hasn't pitched yet.
  13. It also amazes me how many parents want their kids to get Tommy John because "it's going to happen eventually, anyways." That's insane. It really isn't the same schedule anymore, and specialization is probably hurting more than anything. Kids want to throw every pitch without actually mastering any of them and that's a huge problem. I just don't think many players realize they don't an unlimited amount of pitches in their arms, and coaches hopefully take travel ball into account, but I would assume most feel they are getting "fresh arms" when baseball starts and that's not the case, especially now. I think the culture of "play through it" is also a tough line to deal with. I want kids to develop toughness and work ethic, but where is the line? I'm not asking in a demeaning way, but as a serious question. If a kid says "my shoulder is killing me", how does a coach lean in that situation? It feels like an impossible spot for them sometimes.
  14. If this were a continual thing where he basically roasted kids arms constantly, I would probably question him being in the position he is, but charging a coach with child abuse seems a little much, especially if there is no track record of throwing kids too much. I don't have enough info on the situation.
  15. I would probably need to know more before I could make a judgement. Has he thrown any in the past few days, does he has a violent delivery, etc. It does seem a little excessive, but I would need more info.
  16. I think you're on the right track. Kids are learning pitches at earlier ages than ever before instead of growing at a slower pace. I think there's also a tendency for kids to be "throwers" rather than "pitchers". They want to try and throw every pitch known to man and look cool doing it, and who wouldn't want to do that? Unfortunately, It's like trying to win a fistfight with a nuclear weapon. You've got the means to end the fight more effectively with less fallout. A kid who can change speeds effectively can often times beat one who's trying to throw seventeen different pitches and can't locate any of them. I feel like a lot of times things just get over complicated. Too many pitchers try to be what they're not, and the coach needs to step in and have them focus on staying in their lane, whether that's a decent pitcher or a D1 prospect. If your pitcher can throw a curve, great. If he's tried for months and can't control or locate it, then scrap it.
  17. Totally agree here. If the Coach has a win at all costs attitude it sends a message to other kids about how he treats his players. There's a lot more to it than just winning. Besides, Coaches are the ones who see them in practice everyday and can judge situation better than parents can more often than not. A lot of kids will forget the wins and the losses, but they'll remember how they're treated and how the coaches made them feel as a result of it. I tend to worry about the parent being involved too much, if only because it can bring more anxiety. I've seen coaches who unfortunately tell their kid one thing, then have a parent in the stands tell them something completely contradictory.
  18. I would say that it's more prevalent in the college ranks. From my experiences, coaches tend to be conservative with the pitchers that they have. The spot you have to watch out for the most is when a school who hasn't had a history of success or talent gets a supremely talented player. Coaches in those situations might ride a guy too much compared to others. In college, coaches like Augie Garrido, Jim Schlossnagle, and Mik Aoki have been known to shred arms like no one's business. There's a tendency with college coaches to win today instead of protecting a kid. I think the main problem is letting the kid decide. They've been taught at a young age that admitting fatigue or pain is a weakness instead of an indicator. The coach needs to have a handle on when pushing through becomes a losing endeavor. Any pitcher who throws that much is probably very competitive anyways, so the coach has to protect them against themselves. That's why it's such a slippery slope. No pitcher is the same, and they all have different limits. It's an inexact science. I do think if they were to institute a pitch count it would need to be a high number, just to have a ceiling in place. The problem is that the number could be fudged very easily Legislating the days off might be more acceptable, but even then the kids are usually at a different position, so do they have to stay out and not play in the field, since some throwing is involved there? It's tough and I'm not sure there's an easy answer.
  19. heard they did that with the baseball coach two years ago he helped them coach basketball then they canned him after all he did for the school used to be so stable down there now its all over the place
  20. who in the world does this i havent seen it in our district at all theres an anthem the kids either take the field or head to the dugout and play ball no ones worried about someone backing down or whatever this is supposed to accomplish
  21. they have a ton of talent but there is no discipline on the team usually they would never fix anything until there was no other choice and the damage has been done i guess it came back to bite them after the aau scandal
  22. problem is that theres a hiring freeze in roane county at the moment so who knows are people who dont teach in the county allowed to be head coaches
