  1. The only problem I see with Hampton is that they don't have that one go to scorer like a lot of teams have and they don't have a true post player they they can rely on. Defensively they are very sound and on the offensive end they have to be pretty balanced scoring as a team and shoot the ball well in order for them to win over better teams.
  2. The one thing I have noticed in high school basketball this year is that Unaka,Cloudland,Dobyns Bennett,University High and Sullivan East is going through a rebuilding phase. Now I am not saying they are bad teams by no means just no where near as talented as they have been in recent years. And it's been a while since those 6 teams in one season combined have not been the cream of the crop.
  3. It was a very well played game all the way to halftime. Cloudland trailed Johnson County by 6 at the end of the first quarter and went up by 4 or 5 to end the half. Clarke kept Cloudland in the game offensively the whole first half knocking down some key shots. Wilson got a little frustrated early and sat most of the first half. Cloudland came out with a good defensive mentality in the second half outscoring Johnson County 22-6. The final was 59-42 but It's hard to gage a game like this just for the fact Cloudland didn't play as well as they could early obviously and Johnson County missed 18 free throws so you know its really hard to tell. Cloudland has a lot of talent and very well coached, I just think in order for them to beat good basketball teams and get down the road they have to be in that mode they was in at Daniel Boone for that 3 game game stretch every night they take the floor. Johnson County on the other hand is starting 3 sophmores 1 freshman and a senior playing 1 person off the bench. But this team is competing very hard night in and night out and will only get better.
  4. It seems like the Lady Landers are losing the games that's most important and that's your conference games. Dont get me wrong they are a very good basketball team. But there is no excuse that if you are the calibur of team they are you lose back to back conference games on your own home floor with that much senior leadership and experience. You can go out and beat the biggest AAA or AA school and what does it show for if you cant beat probably the 3rd best team in your conference on your own home floor? Nothing. I look at tonight as a statement type of game. You just won the Trailblazer Classic and you get a chance to redeem yourself after losing one conference game to South Greene on your own home floor and waste an opportunity of keeping yourself in the run for the conference championship. Seems like to me they pick and chose when they want to play. Which top notch teams dont do.
  5. Great game tonight between Sullivan South and Johnson County. Sullivan South pulled out a nailbiter over Johnson County 50-46. Johnson County was down 2 with 50 seconds to go and missed 2 free throws along with 4 layups down the stretch from what I heard. But closer than what I thought it would be.
  6. Good rankings for week 5. I couldn't agree with you more.
