  1. I see a lot of crazy score predictions on here. But here is the deal. Coach Williams is not a coach that will run it up for the sake of running a score up. Before he does that he will put in back ups to get playing time. If the score gets out of hand it will have to happen with backups. I don't know anything about Warren County but I have a hard time believing that they will just lay down and give this game to us. Is their program in that bad of shape?

Last season with a record above .500 was 1990. It's that bad

  2. Why did they not use him more?

Warren could have had Jalen Hurd at tailback and it wouldn't have mattered. Their offensive line is garbage. I've heard rumors that the QB is considering sticking with just basketball, with that group in front of him it would be a wise choice healthwise. I can't understand why Warren County hasn't had a decent o line in years, even when the Robinson kid was there they weren't that good as a unit.

  3. I'm not saying this would ever happen, but how stupid would the T$$AA look if at the end of the year the 6A state champs record was 5-10. It could happen but highly unlikely. A team should earn a playoff spot not be given one just because of the number of students enrolled

  4. WC is on the thin side for athletes period. We need the handfull we have to play all the sports they want to. I don't care if your son is scared of competition or not.

I don't have a child playing on the team so your argument about that in invalid. The saying is sports in general prepares a person for life, so you're saying that it's ok if instead of showing up for work everyday, putting in the time to hone your craft, etc. it is acceptable to lay out by the lake, ride dirt bikes with your friends, float the river, ride around all the while your co-workers (teammates) are working hard and doing things the right way, yet you should be allowed to just show whenever you feel like it and get the same paycheck as the ones that have been actually putting in the time? I bet you burn the flag and believe in socialism also

  5. Yes, I think DeKalb will score on Warren County, early and often. Reason I believe this is severe lack of discipline. From what I hear is nothing has changed in this department. Players that have missed all of off season workouts for whatever reason being allowed back on the team with open arms. The only reason a kid should miss workouts is if they are playing another sport that is in season. If you want to miss football workouts because you've got summer baseball or basketball then make a choice, if you've got to work and miss then make a choice. Id rather have a team with 50 kids that is dedicated to improving the football program and will be there everyday than have a roster of 80 that only half of them really care. I've already heard every excuse about this kid has it rough, this one can't get a ride, this one needs the program, etc. This isn't the federal government, where your given a free ride off the sweat of others.

  6. off line will still be the weak link

Everyone wants to blame the o line, especially the QB who's so afraid of throwing a pick that he holds the ball until the only guy he'll throw to is open or the RB who's afraid to take a hit that he tries to bounce everything outside and doesn't have enough speed to do so. Go back and look at the last two years of game film and you'll see the holes were there to run thru and not even the pros can give 6-7 seconds of time to throw. I'm not talking about the QB that was there last year either, he made plays with his legs when receivers weren't open.

  7. I don't think it's going to be all the doom and gloom some think it's going to be for the Pioneers. They have a good senior class coming back and some very good juniors that were very successful on the JV and freshman teams the last two years. The QB will be a strength and RB will be in capable hands. The O line will have a couple of new faces but they should be fine. The biggest concerns will be WR and DB

Wouldn't surprise me, that's the way it should be considering the difference in the size of schools. Lucky for us little guys, that's not always the case. Have mercy and take it easy on us little fellers game one.

  8. Has anyone heard anything about who Coach Moore will be keeping on staff. I'm sure over the holiday break he's talked to a few of the one's from last year. I hope the administration let's him make those decisions and not the usual crew. I hear a few parents still clamoring for one of last years assistants to get the job, wish they'd just get over it. He didn't get it for a reason and that right there is one of those reasons. I hope everyone can drop all this me and my kid BS and just let them play ball.

  9. Hmm....if true, that's very surprising. I figured ole Cotton was a shoe in this time around. I agree he's not ready though. He would stay loyal if he had any moderate success, whereas someone from outside of the county may use this job as a stepping stone.

True, like for instance a coach from a nearby 4A program that might be wanting to test the waters in a higher classification. You never know. Not naming any names though

  10. I'm sure it will be different this time around. Madewell was seen at Books a Million in the how to coach section.

I believe they have occasionally done the obviously stupid. I don't know how serious they are about hiring Madewell and I don't have a problem with it. I don't think any quality coach will touch this job. My question is can you really believe you are moving forward, if you go backward to hire a coach. This has already been done once. How did it work out for the ladies basketball program when Coach Ann Jacobs Eades had two separate tenures?

  11. Coach cotten is why about 9 starters didnt quit this yr. He will be the only one able to get players to believe w.c boys can do it.if w.c boy isnt good enough to head coach why should the w.c kids believe they can play football.who has the right to judge what he can do until given his shot!until then lets keep it real

You can be a successful middle school head coach, but that doesn't mean you can be a good high school coach. Cotton hasn't even been a coordinator at the high school level yet. Yes he was jv head coach and was successful at it, but some of the ones he had on jv were also starters on varsity and some of should have been at least playing more on varsity. It almost makes a person wonder if he wasn't trying to make himself look good for a reason.

  12. And one has had his shot at it and the other one has zip leadership skills/too infantile to lead a group of young people. Decisions, decisions....

My thoughts exactly, why would they let Madewell get another shot, and Cotten would have less discipline than either Johnson or Smith he's got a reputation for letting players miss multiple practices yet when it comes game time he plays them. I don't think either would have the respect of the players.
  13. I can see the principal and the AD having some knowledge of football...but like I said earlier, what does Holmes know about football other than it comes on ESPN? :roflolk: :roflolhk: :roflolk:Holmes is the uncle of the current starting QB whose sister is currently dating one of the assistant coaches who just so happens to have an application in for the opening. Oh, he is also a member in good standing of the Dibrell Mafia
