  1. The returning QB could be good but compares more to the running QB's of the past like Thrower and Paz. His strength is not in the passing game as previous QB's in the past like Wilkinson and Mullican. His future will probably focus more on the hardwood than the football field.

I have had the privilege of coaching him at the youth level and at the middle school level. He is very intelligent and extremely coachable. I have no doubt that with proper coaching he can be an outstanding QB in any system.

  2. I don't think boss has lost any weight he has just gotten bigger, Mooneyham will be a force at LB and hopefully we get Lance Ball back at LB too! Add Moon to safety and Patterson to corner is my guess. Moon missed last year with a knee injury. He is a little more physical than Patterson.

I should've said he looks leaner.

  3. if DC can replace Milan and Gill, with the qb a year older....they might could make a push to upset LA. Who are the top play makers for DC at wr and db?

Boss has lost a lot of weight and should be a solid RB. Patterson was the top returning receiver and is a playmaker at safety. Ball the mike linebacker was all over the field Saturday night. He is going to be a stud this year.

  4. how did the OL and DL look for DC? I wouldn't figure may of them would be on the baseball team.

They looked good I thought, held their own.  Soddy Daisy was bigger but we didn't get pushed around.  They had 2 big plays on us, both sweeps to the right side.  We made 3 or 4 turnovers that really hurt and we got flagged a lot.

  5. How did the scrimmage go for DC? Baseball lost last night in sub state so finally get back the qb, rb, 3 wr's, safeties/lb's etc.. We were pretty short handed. Did we get it handed to us or did we do pretty well? Lol.

Final score was 25-14 Soddy Daisy. They scored 18 points quick in the first quarter. They got a big run the first time they got the ball and scored. Then next we threw an INT for another easy TD. They scored another1st quarter TD off of a turnover. We played them tough the rest of the way. Passing game was bad but Backup qb made a lot of big runs.

  6. With him being 18 and all what is the hold up if he wants to move back to SC with his dad? I don't see how the state could make him stay where he is considering he is technically considered an adult now.

There is only a few weeks remaining in the school year and he is finishing the year at DC.

  7. I mean u tell me it obvious the parents pay for everything. They don't have any bills they want play under the lights cuz they don't want to pay the bill the make plenty off gate and concessions. So u tell me wher is the money. Y want they show the books and if I'm correct husband and wife can't be on a non profit checking account but they r and if ther not y want they prove it. I cod go on for days bout them. They r useless and r killin youth football in WC

The financial statements were posted on the bulletin board at the concession stands the whole season this past year.  Referee fees eat most of the concession/gate fees.  The only day I counted the money, there was over $700 taken in and over $600 spent paying the refs.  The difference was $159, that day.  That doesn't count weekly fees to empty the porta johns, pay electric bill, buy gas/paint/supplies for mowing and maintaining the field,....etc.  Over half of the registration fees go to insurance.  There is just not much money left.

There is plenty of room for our youth league to improve in a lot of ways.  The current board members are far from perfect but I do not see anyone else showing up long before the season starts and doing the crappy jobs no one else will do.  No one else in Warren Co cares enough about youth football to do all the ground work required to start a "better" youth football league.  And even if someone did start another competing organization, who are they going to play?  Field 2 teams and play each other 3 times for a season with the same team winning every time?  Or go to Murfreesboro/Nashville and try to compete with established programs and get bashed?

The only way to make youth football better in Warren Co is to get involved with the current Pioneer Youth Football League and work from the inside to make things better.  At least this is my opinion.

  8. You sure about that hoss? Anyways what does anything like that have to do with this thread?

Yes.  I'm sure.  It doesn't belong in this thread but the old thread got shut down by coach t.  You said it sounded fishy then so I wanted to reply when it happened.  Sorry, for throwing a tangent in this thread.  I truly hope DC has a great season and wins the district this year.  Worried about that trip to Livingston though.

  9. Whoa, can't believe the coach or representative of the school is on here talking in the message boards. If volsrock is the coach, that post tells me all I need to know about how things are going for him. I find it hilarious that a coach would be on here basically holding peoples hands, trying to comfort them, and saying everything will be alright.

Your RB quit the team like I told you a few months ago.

  10. It will play out to the fashion of a 42-14 whooping, something like that. Jennings and Milan will be to much for WC in game one of the season. Milan didn't get but a few touches before leaving because of injury last game.

If Coach Smith is as good as advertised, it might be closer than you think.  WC has talent.  The big problems are discipline and organization.  A previous state champion coach with experience in building programs should fix a lot of those problems fast.  We will see.

I agree that with 10 starters back on offense and 9 on defense, DC will be a tough first game for the new coach.  Milan may have to go home to Smith Co when he turns 18.  I hope he works things out and he gets to stay though.

  11. I've never been on here but once in my life and it was in defense of my daughter when she was a freshman basketball player and there was a lot of untruths and bashing of her going on then just as there is now. Well, I'm back and unlike many of you, I'm not hiding behind some name so you won't know who I am. First of all, Cotten is dating my daughter and I have zero problem with it. She is 20 years old and is 2 years removed from high school which makes her 100% an adult and she's totally capable of making her own decisions and so far this has been a good one. I consider myself fortunate that she didn't choose to associate with any of you gossiping, coward losers hiding behind a code name with nothing better to do than tear down the few people who are trying to do things right in this county and are ridiculed for being overachievers.

As for the rising Jr quarterback, he also lives in my house and will not get a second of playing time unless he deserves it and puts in the work and earns it, regardless of who the coach is. Contrary to popular belief, we don't operate that way. As a matter of fact, being close to the coaching staff can have an adverse effect on playing time as evidenced by the past year's football season.

As for the next coach, you all will know soon enough and you can rest assured there is big change coming like nothing you've ever seen in this county. I hope you bandwagon supporters are ready for what's ahead. It is about to get seriously fun in WC again and I can't wait!

Where is the like button?  I want to hit the like button for this post.

I sure hope you are right about the next coach.
