  1. Captnoname- Hey, no problem with the camera help the other night. I knew we were going to need the game footage so didnt want to miss the whole first half. And Eric knew about my Hugs connection, but actually was student manager for Beilien back in the day when they won the NIT and Sweet 16.
  2. No not this year. Went to the WVU-OU football game, haven't had a lot to cheer for but hoping basketball team and Hugs can pull out a couple more wins before tournament starts. I usually try to make it to one basketball and one football game a year though.
  3. I thnk it is funny that we want to compare schedules between Wilson Central or anyone in 9-AAA with Kenwood or anyone in 10-AAA. But if you look at the schedules between Kenwood and Wilson Central on Coach T website, Kenwood has played against 4-5 ranked teams especially teams like Dyer Co. and South Fulton, CPA, Cheatam Co, that will be State contenders in their areas, I dont see those same types of teams on WIlson Central's schedule besides siegel?... Thats just an observation though.
  4. The Real Truth- My point with Portland is that they dont have the talent level to compete with those teams. They are close to the drop off point, the difference with Portland and Kenwood is that Kenwood has a ton of athletes, not all play basketball or football but there are kids who are athletic and like to play sports. Don't have that at Portland from what I know about them. My only reason to respond was the critical post about the coach at portland. I believe he is doing the best he can with what he has to work it. I am not trying to take a cheap shot at the players he has just pointing out the there aren't the athletes at Portland that say Gallatin or MJ or SC have. Also only mentioned Gallatin in comment about DeMatha because know they have had a quality program and a quality coach for a long time. Just pointing out that the fact that sometimes schools can't physically match or meet other schools talent level when they are in same level of basketball. Doesn't mean that Gallatin coach isnt good if they get beat by a better team. I just don't like when people (chicky) tries to take cheap shots at other schools or programs. Obviously this is a message board so they allow all levels of intellegence to comment but just don't like ignornace, and try to stick up for coaches in general.
  5. I haven't been able to watch Black play but see the numbers he puts up, so definately think he is one that needs to be in Murfreesboro. I have seen Malik Pugh play and that kid is quick and talented and also on a very good team. Clark is a stud, saw him play a couple times during the fall and a game or two during season, he is a great player and is probably one of the best players in Tenn. without a doubt. Daniel Norl is the last player that I think should be invited to Mr. AAA basketball finialist. I know more about him than the other players. He is a Eastern Kentucky Signee, that has been a Varisty contributor even as a Freshmen. He is avgeraging 21.5 points per game, has a shooting percentage of 42% from 3pt, 51% from the field, and has made over 190 three pointers in his career. I know this award is based on yearly stats but just wanted to put some of those numbers out. He has over 500 points this season alone. Norl is also a McDonald's All-American Nominee. He is part of the winningest class in school history and has back to back regular season championships in a tough 10AAA. Statistics are one factor that should go into this award but just some facts about him off the court. Norl is a great kid, who has excellent grades, works hard, and if you talked to any coach who has played against him is the ultimate competitor but also shows excellent sportsmanship in both wins and losses. Kenwood has a chance to do something special this season as a team, hoepfully they can make a good post season run, but even if that should not happen, still believe Norl should be invited as a finialist.
  6. I was mistaken I knew brewer went to an SEC school just assumed it was UT... CrimsonTide- I have seen them play, fundamentals get you something's... I think the kids at Portland play hard, but the talent level really just isn't there to compete in that div. and I could be wrong but don't think they have competed since Brewer left 8-9 years ago... Shocked that a state title coach would leave a state contender to go to Portland.... I'm around a lot of coaches in middle tenn and I've never heard anyone waiting for Portland job to open up... I'm talking about good quality coaches... I think the coach at Portland works hard and I think his players play hard but like I've said there's only so much you can do... Can't coach speed and size...
  7. Well they have taken numerous shots at the Portland coaching hire before. My point is this, over the past 5 years they have had 3-4 coaches to my knowledge and they had a quality coach that left to go be an assistant at another school. Anytime you got good head coaches leaving a school to go be an assistant somewhere else usually means they know there isnt any talent there. Also you can be competitive and not very good, also to the point that chicky girl made about making excuses. If Gallatin which has some talent and what most people would consider a good quality coach goes and plays Dematha High School they would get beat by 70. Both same age kids and both play high school both have good programs and good kids doesnt mean that Gallatin kids suck or the coach is horrible just means they dont have the talent to compete at that level.( also dont make the excuse that Dematha is different than any other school) (Rememeber NO EXCUSES) Portland doesnt have the level of talent to compete at the 9AAA district. They are about 10 kids from being put in AA. Obviously there are some people on here who just don't have a clue about athletics but this is what discussion boards are for I guess. I am just here to point out that Portland doesn't have the talent, doesn't mean the kids don't play hard and doesn't mean that the players haven't gotten better sometimes you just dont have the kids in the school to compete with schools that have multiple kids that are 6'6" or taller. Name the last time in 8 years that Portland was a contender in that district besides having the one stud that went to UT??? I also find it pretty commical that they keep referring to this state championship coach who is just dying to coach at Portland, but isn't coaching anywhere now or wants to leave where hes at to go to Portland. Most any quality coach would look and be honest and say that Portland doesn't have the athletes to compete with the players at Wilson Central and others. If you can't see that or disagree with that then you really are that ignorant of a person. Also just want to point out that I have no "teams" in that district or area, just find it commical when people like to call out coaches. Find it commical that we are ranking coaches in that district just because we want to take cheap shots at another coach.
  8. I can assure who ever this Portland Coach Hater is " crimsontide something" that Portland is struggling not because of who their coach is but because of the talent on the team. It amazes me that this so called state title coach somehow is trying to coach at portland but yet isnt coaching anywhere else right now?..... You can put Coach K as the high school coach of Portland with the same players and they would still be in the same position. SMH
  9. Charles Clark- Siegel Leron Black- White Station Malik Pugh - Dyer Co. Daniel Norl- Kenwood
  10. Also CPA is really good... They have 4-5 really talented players and 2-3 good role players... Very impressed with how they play... Would love to see them play a team like Jackson Southside in State...
  11. I still have no understanding why people are talking about who beat who once... Or that means we are better than them... In reality cascade is not the best team in the district and definitely not the best team in the region maybe top 5, but who cares what you did week 1-2 of the season... I know most programs worry about February and March... Cascade is better than they have been in the past, but they won't win their district, won't win their region, and will not advance past the first or second round of the region... So in reality who cares who they beat in Nov or how much they got beat by CPA. Kenwood is not the best defense in the state... They are good at times but not the best...'but Kenwood is probably best team in district with Henry right there with them, probably one of the top 2-3 teams in region and can have a chance to advance past that point if they play well... So can we stop comparing how much who beat who by or who lost to who in Nov... Because it's a mute point.
