  1. The board has been kind of slow this year. Lets get the discussion started and see how it pans out. It appears the race will be close this year for the team title at the D I individual state tournament. I think Cleveland will squeak it out with a narrow win over Bradley but Bradley could very well upset them with the right draws. I don't think Wilson Central will have the fire power but should finish third and may have a lot to do with who wins the championship depending on the draws.

In DII I think Baylor wins it this year with Father Ryan second. father Ryan usually peaks at the end as everyone knows but baring some major upsets I just dont think they have the manpower to beat Baylor this year. They may move around and drop weights to get more favorable match ups so only time will tell.  McCallie ends up third if all their guys are healthy. Has anybody seen any recent activity by Baylor ? It appears they aren't wrestling many in state teams or tournaments. What is the status of the McCallie injured guys?

The Baylor squad is as tough as ever and should be considered the best team in the state in all divisions. I don't think there is a team that could beat their end of season line up.

  2. Your posts truly amaze me more and more with every post WrestlingGod. If you see the Ooltewah Invitational results Wilson Central clearly topped Cleveland by over 30 points. Also if you visit the rankings via www.pin-tn.com they clearly have Bradley as number 1 over Wilson Central who is number 2 THEN following them is Cleveland at number 3. So if Father Ryan beat Wilson Central who won a tournament by over 30 points over Cleveland how does it make sense that Cleveland is better than Father Ryan?

Not a huge Father Ryan or Wilson Central fan, I just find enjoyment at the stupidity in your posts.

I agree, I think Wrestling"God"  just posts whatever he thinks at the moment without quality insight.

  3. Not true. I know you're just coming on here trying to start drama but just because you don't medal doesn't mean you were bad. I have a personal friend I wrestled with in hs, he was good, never medaled. Now he's a bjj world champion and professional mma fighter. I never medaled, I wrestled in college. I have a brother who never medaled, he wrestled on the Marine Corps team. Tell Matt he sucks cause he never medaled, guarantee he'd put on a takedown clinic.

    Where did you wrestle?

  4. This feed is just sad, d2 is better and because of that yall kicked us out of your tournament. The last time Baylor won the individual tournament they could have beat a d1 all champs team. The best wrestles in recent history to compete after highschool have come from division 2. Leen, Marable, Simpson, and Cody Cleveland, compared to Keller from d1.

  5.  Bad call? Try 3 or 4 bad calls in the first match. Sutherland had him down pretty big at one point before the stalling calls. I watched the rematch closely and didnt see a call that affected anything or that I thought was even controversial? What call was the Chattanooga ref scared to make? It seemed to me like Sutherland controled that one pretty easily then shut down for some reason. I forgot the score but I think Simpson scored a late takdown that was irrelevant. He also got in on some nice shots but wasnt able to finish them.  Im not sure if Sutherland is healthy or not, I heard he hasnt practiced much but he does appear to slow down in the two matches Ive watched him. When he stays active hes pretty hard to handle. Im not a Baylor fan but I like that kid. I dont know Simpson but I doubt hes running . Hes probably wrestling a weight better suited for him. Ryan tends to always drop a lot of kids at the end of the year. I bet both their dads arent liking all this talk, Ive never seen either one talk about their kid on here. Where did the 170 lber from Baylor come from? Ive never heard of him but was very impressed. Their first match was close if I remember correctly when it was online. Might be an exciting rematch this weekend.

The 170 you are referring to is Cayman Seagraves. He is a boarding student at baylor and has been since he was a freshman. He has been ineligible to compete in TSSAA sports because he received a full academic scholarship through the DSP (Distinguished Scholar Program). This year his parents have chosen to give up the money he earned in the classroom in order for him to be able to compete in the sport he loves due to TSSAA rules. He is from Georgia and wrestled for the club the feeds into Pope Highschool.

  6. Who do you think would oppose one individual tournament today?  What schools?

The ones who ruined it for us in the first place. The ones who couldn't compete with that level of competition. The problem is the dominant percentage the average. They choose to vote for the easier path rather than put on their work boots and climb to the top.

  7. No, not at all. Please tell us how Baylor was on the way to a major on that match.  Also, there were questionable calls in the state; however, I did not see the parents questioning it on this board like others.

I now see what you are talking about, Ryan loses to Baylor and everything is OK.  Like you said, even without the Heavyweight match, Baylor beats Ryan.  You are so wrong and the more you post, the more ignorance you show.  That was a 12 point swing in the match and Father Ryan lost by 11.  Either way you put it, Chattanooga Ref's helped Baylor to a victory.

It is really just sad to listen to you whine. You cant change a refs call, you adapt and move forward, like Sutherland did when he won in the rematch. You play with the cards you are dealt. FR lost, Baylor won. It is another check mark in the win column for the bad guys. That is how it will go down in the record books, with no asterisk for a questionable call.

  8. The big four (+the Bros) D2 schools will have wrestled each other something like four times in the last four weeks, some of them possibly five.

    I don't think that's good.

I don't know why TSSAA doesn't listen to them, did you get any reasons why, if all were unanimous against, why is it happening?

(Lets keep the dream alive of one, unified state tournament)

Baylor Mccallie match, state duals, region, state. It is ridiculous, Parker and Hoodenpyle will wrestle 4 times in a month. The TSSAA does what they choose to do for money. two more region tourneys means they can charge admission more. It is as simple as that.

I understand a split for duals, but I agree with your dream, one tourney, one champion.

  9. I was only half kidding about the PSLs, but TSSAA has to make some money.  I like it that they cannot say wrestling doesn't contribute financially because now it is an incredible revenue producer. I think our coaches should make more demands.

It would be very difficult to uproot it now.  So lets work on improving it.

Coaches demands do nothing. Every single division 2 coach voted against the region tournament format implemented this year.

  10. Well, lets see how many trips we made to Chattanooga over the years.......

Sounds like Chatt just doesn't travel very well.

reftn do you understand the term "casual fan" I am talking about the people with no connection to kids wrestling in the tournament but enjoy wrestling. I guess there are not very many of those where you are from. In chattanooga it is much more common. Your issue should be improving the support for wrestling in middle tennessee rather than worrying about how well chattanooga travels.

  11. Got to keep it centrally located!

So sacrifice kids feeling like a champion and looking up at the fans stacked above them to wrestle on mats that are lumpy because there is dirt underneath them? I would drive to Memphis if that is what it took to have the atmosphere of McKenzie Arena. Unfortunately the rest of the state does not have the casual wrestling fans that the greater Chattanooga area has. I mean how could you expect anywhere but the area of the state with the most champions to have the most fans?
