Football shape and wrestling shape makes perfect sense... No doubt every team has progressively gotten stronger and their cardio has improved... No november team is the same experience wise or physically as the February team... Agreed one tournament independent of all other factors means nothing but taken as a whole with the totality of the circumstances- it is meaningful. Jeff county's team is young and inexperienced but they have grown this year- more than others I don't know- but growth and learning has occurred...

That easier to place sword cuts both ways... And is just as applicable to A/AA- easier for them to place with good kids from AAA taken out...

Before or after the season it's ok - no AAU OR USAW DURING SEASON...

Agreed Lead, Follow Or get out of the way... The middle school schedule in region 1 is limited to starting after JAN 01 and ends in Feb. According to TSSAA kids are not supposed to be on the mats before jan 01... And the can't participate in AAU or USAW during the season- none of this helps grow the sport. If not for the clubs taking up the slack in training and competition- TSSAA would have successfully killed the sport here in TN. If stymying the sport wasn't their intent with the AAU and USAW prohibitions it is an unintended consequence that needs to be changed.

Alphabetical order removes the TFF (Tom foolery factor). Randomness always seems to take a familiar and predictable pattern for some reason...

Sorry I missed this thread. It's a great idea and despite the naysayers a needed tournament for tons of solid reasons... Mat time, positive reinforcement just from competing not getting medals necessarily- how many kids never get to compete because their varsity teams have studs in their weight classes AND their competition doesn't have enough wrestlers to fill in complete Varsity teams much less JV? Growing the sport takes building and coaching these future varsity wrestlers. Great job good idea and thank you for taking the time to consider "THE OTHER GUYS". We all know every state champion started out as a state champion day one... Or could it be they were coached developed and kept in the sport by forward thinking coaches that saw a need like this tournament filled and made it happen?

Agreed. The question that begs an answer is why? Why wouldn't they do it the way you describe.
