  1. 1. Seals knew about the tape. I discussed it with him the day after he told the AD about it. He did not like it. I do not think that I said he was cool with it. All I said was that Seals was aware. He called the AD and it was handled through the Central Office. THIS IS ALL FACT 2. I think Burke Toney will get the turf as of now. 3. Brian Trent is a great man. 4. The West film guy would "practice" filming. He is very thorough. A very devote Christian man and would not do something sneaky like that. Both of his daughters graduated from East. 5. I am sure that West made a copy of the tape before sending it to East. 6. I do not think that they will combing the high schools. I was just putting out there what I wish would happen. Morristown would come back together as a community if it happened. I think the 3 high schools may happen eventually. 7. I do not care what numbers TSSAA has down. Both are right at 1,400 kids with East holding a little edge. West actually had more to start the year, but has changes lately.
  2. As an East fan, here is what happened with "Filmgate." The West film guy went to practice at the game since West was off. He did not know that this would be an issue. I saw him there and asked him why he was there. He told me straight up that he was practicing. He feels that he gets rusty from time to time. Coach Seals knew about it and East handled it through CO and got the film back. It did come across as smarmy, but I believe it to be unintentional. The film guy at West would not lie. He is a good man and person. If West had sent the film guy, he would have admitted it. He is a stand up guy.
  3. It should still matter. I graduated a long time ago. My wife has to pull me back over the rail at UT every week, but I still care about high school sports and high school students as well. Don't stop caring because you graduate. Be proud! I love as an adult having a middle school, high school, college and pro teams that I care about. I even have a Canadian football team I love!
  4. That did it. I am running for county commission and school board!!!!...lol. My platform: Build a mega-school on 160, bring the community back together, new school mascot, keep taxes low, sell bonds to build school, get Wild family involved (just kidding), beat everyone!!! EDWARD R. MASTERS FOR COUNTY COMMISSION!!!
  5. We don't really have many mountains right here in Hamblen County. The older generation of adults would want something that would be from the past. (Just like East getting the Goose back) You could NEVER go back to Hurricanes. No way Trojans would work. The name Wildcats was used back when there was only 1 middle school in the entire county. It was housed where the Central Office is today. I agree that it would be the best facility in the state. And the sports would be unreal.
  6. The funny thing is how it was never this big of an issue until now. I almost wonder if they are not trying to force us to do something. Could someone have an agenda? Why all of the sudden is this an issue when it wasn't back when I was a student?
  7. Here you go. I have thought about this for YEARS. MASCOT: Wildcats (Morristown's Junior High mascot) COACH: Woods or Hatcher - You could not go wrong with either selection. West wins state a few years ago with some of East's players. A 6'6 WR named Simpson sure would have helped. There are other schools that have that many kids. It would take a completely new building out on 160. It would be worth it, but they would not even think about trying it. Today's paper brought up opening 3 schools. I hope they don't do that!
  8. The local paper had an article about how Burke-Toney, home of Morristown East and West, might receive the same kind of turf that Carson-Newman has. The company has promised a huge discount so that it can be a showcase for other schools in our area. We need it because of how many games are played on the field. With East inproving each year and West always strong, it just adds to the traffic on it. Jefferson County is not too far from 3,000 if I am not mistaken. There are a few out there I believe.
  9. Thanks for catching my whoa. (I didn't check what spell check threw up there) I would start pointing out your typos, but that is not what adults do. Childish game. I am not worried about a senior in high school trying to show me up. Yes, I know of the West High English teacher who always says that East gets more attention and West gets nothing, but the FACTS seem to differ. When the Citizen Tribune has two radio stations covering your games, a sports editor that is a West High graduate, an editor calling the play-by-play on the radio, and Fishman's relatives going to West, it seems to say that you all have the advantage. The thing is that I feel that it is even. Try not to get too caught up in one teacher's vendetta against East. Brian Trent, the sports editor, has done a great job of keeping it even. If he is showing East more than West, then he must have issues with people from his alma mater. That is not East's fault. I still say Brian does a great job! If the Tribune was not a touchy subject, I doubt you would have brought it up. BTW, I have noticed a few t-shirts about East over at West. That goes both ways. I take it as a rivalry. Just for the record.....PUT THE SCHOOLS BACK TOGETHER!!!
  10. This is really funny. Most East people call the Tribune the Trojan Tribune. Let's just be honest and look at it from an adult's perspective. The reason that the East kids were on front of the paper is because East was the home team this year. Try to remember that West has 2 radio stations that cover their games and both are owned by..........THE CITIZEN TRIBUNE. The sports editor, a friend of mine, is a graduate of.........MORRISTOWN WEST!!! Please look at the facts before spouting off things about the paper without knowing the facts. Please do not be so blinded by misinformation as to not see that East has students competing for just as many prestigious awards as West. We have kids all over the place as well. Young man all you just did in that diatribe was to act like West is superior to anything East has. If that was your goal, then you should be proud. I have been heavily involved with both schools and I promise you that they are both great. They are different in their own ways, but you can get a great education from either. (I have had relatives attend both) The Blue Ribbon Award was no fluke. If East had the winning tradition in football that West currently has, you can bet your bottom dollar that we would have just as great a crowd as you all presently enjoy. We do not have that tradition of excellence and do not enjoy the fruits from it. Just please do not spout off the West High "whoa is me" mantra that so many like to play. Both schools are better than that!
  11. I believe that you are correct. They did move those to Frank Lorino. My bad. Boys are still played there.
  12. 72, I have it on good authority that the West coaching staff blamed East and not Mr. Clement. Yes, he is the one with final say, but West felt that we should have pulled out of that one on our own. I know that Don Woods called East upset over it. Now on Friday it was 100 percent Mr. Johnson's call on if East and Boone played that game. He told me that himself. He and the athletic director made the call. I wonder if West would have played if the roles were reversed? If their freshmen were undefeated, would they have played?
  13. Just thought that I would share some information that I had gathered this weekend.... 1. West has claimed that they will play at CNC this Friday against Unicoi County. It is not definite, but many of the higher ups in the school system believe that this will be the case. It costs 5 thousand to play there. Kills concessions for the band programs 2. East will play at Burke-Toney if this is the case. East believed that they would have played on Saturday afternoon until West claimed CNC for their game. 3. West was upset with East for holding their frosh game last week before West played Cherokee. The field was in terrible shape for the Trojans game. I do not blame West for being upset over that. (Please notice that a Cane fan said this) Varsity has to come first. 4. Burke-Toney is used for ALL of the following games: East Varsity Football, East JV Football, East Freshmen Football, West Varsity Football, West JV Football, West Freshmen Football, East Girls Soccer, West Girls Soccer. This is just the fall schedule. The spring brings both East Boys Soccer and West Boys Soccer. Do not forget that members of Hamblen County can rent out the stadium for special events for around $150. The system does try to keep people off of it as much as possible. They will not let the East Band practice on the field. It is a bad situation. 5. All Hamblen County residents need to look at Sunday's Tribune. Now we are talking about creating a third high school again. Their options include renovating the two and making them larger or creating a third. If they decide to create a third, then more football fields will become a must. I would prefer that we put them back together. Most research says that 3 would be best, but they do not live here and see how East/West divides the town. Here is what I would love to see done. Go out on 160 and build a school that would hold 4,000 students for growth. Name it Hamblen County High School and let the mascot be the Wildcats like the old middle school used to have. They wouls need to pick totally new colors. (No orange and no crimson) Bring the community back together. In my humble opinion, this would do much more for the community than most in power realize.
