  1. Looks like district play starts tomorrow, who does everyone have?
  2. Well they pitched 3 or 4 guys. None were capable of throwing hard or have any junk. And I believe they will be at the bottom this year! Still eager to see how Pickett County and Jackson County play. And yes, clarkrange field is looking great!!
  3. Heard upperman got killed by Sparta. York lost to clarkrange 14-7 I think. Livingston killed Monterey. L
  4. Clay lost 4-2 to RBS. And I don't know. Looper kinda just sat there like he could care less. It's hard to win without a little talent. They are lacking a whole lot of it! Besides they could barley get a strike over the plate unless it was right down the middle. The fastest pitcher maybe threw 70 mph. But it's possible for them to improve.
  5. Monterey couldn't handle Livingston in their opener, they gave 3 or 4 homeruns and other then 2 boys they have no hitting. They didn't have any pitching and were pretty bad in the field. So far it looks like a pretty tough season to over come for the last years district champs. Anyone know anything on the York vs Clarkrange game?
  6. True, 4-17 record last season is rough. And plus from what all I have heard from coaches one of their best hitters and fielders transferred to another school this year. He was lead off or second one, can't remember what they said.
  7. I doubt they will be college bound since neither throws over 80 mph. But they are decent for the high school level
  8. You got to remember they are young and errors accrue more with young players.
  9. Clarkrange is really young, so tuff to say that they will be able to compete with all the older boys. But the beauty of it is getting to watch them play! I do believe Jackson has a very nice field and I go by clarkrange field almost every day! The Parker man has it looking great! It's going to be an intense year for baseball in 7A!
  10. It will be based on defense cause all the pitching was lost last year. Pickett has the best pitching staff and a deep lineup hitting aswell. They can go 4 or 5 deep pitching which is amazing for 1A ball! Be surprised what you see from them and clarkrange!
  11. Clay is in a rebuilding year, or years. They lost the best they had last year in the Rains boy who graduated. I'd say Jackson or C-range will take 2nd and give a tough run for Pickett at 1st. It is for sure up for grabs!
  12. York will be tough if their ego stays behind them. Their new coach will probably take care of that! They could be a surprising team.
  13. Pickett County hired Jeff Holt and York Derwin Wright.
  14. Central Magnet will be tough, and Macon County is a good team. York and Livingston will scrape the bottom, but they may surprise us all.
  15. 1. Pickett County 2. Clarkrange 3. Jackson County 4. Monterey 5. Clay County Clarkrange will be a tough young team, but doesn't have the pitching to go deep into the week. But they have been working hard to get to we're they need to be. They may peak to the top. The Norris kid is a good all around player and so is the Parker boy that is a freshman! Give them a year and they will be at the top! Jackson also needs pitching and can struggle at hitting. But they are a young team and have lots of growing Monterey lost 6 seniors, one was basically their only pitcher that was much good. But they have a great coach in looper, who I played for in a state run. Never count him out. I don't know about their field situation or where they will play. I think they still have the walker boy who can crush a ball! Clay county doesn't have much, but can always surprise you! Pickett County has 5 or 6 seniors that are good to great players along with a few sophomores! Also a freshman that can play good defense and hit the ball good at points. They got a transfer pitcher/middle infielder that signed to Tusculm earlier this month from my understandings, throws mid to high 80's and has great off speed and movement. Also hits the ball with great power, but also contact! I have watched him play since he was young and have coached against him in travel ball for a few years now. He has instinct like no other kid! They are strong in all areas, so they will be tough to beat! If they come together as a team, they may never lose. Best of luck to all!!
