  1. The search committee that was put together last year doesn't need to be recalled. It was quite evident early on that Mallory was in over his head. Summer was spent primarily on the defense, hence why the offense struggled. It was obvious that our most athletic player were on the defensive side of the football. It would have been awesome to see them play two ways. Say what you will about depth, but how many teams are still playing with kids that play both ways and even special teams? The thing that is most disgusting is we are back to square one if this is true. It is unfair to the kids who are constantly fed political jargon about how they love them and this is where they want to be! Central will remain mediocre in football with the constant hiring of "one and dones". Yet we wonder why we continuously lose our zoned athletes to Ooltewah or to the private route?
  2. If you are a coach, you should have thick skin. Every coach knows that. However, I am just calling it like I see it. My opinion. You don't have to like it. Facts are facts.
  3. Have been hearing rumors that Mallory is gone? Said his wife is in graduate school and when she graduates this year, he will follow her to wherever she gets a job. If this is true, we start back over at square one. The hiring committee that hired him definitely does not be allowed to be on the board that hire the next coach! I am so sick of this happening to our boys at Central! Totally unfair to these kids who are sold propaganda by incoming coaches only to be let down at years end! Has anyone else heard this?
  4. Say what you want about the QB. He ran for his life all year long. This may be one of the worst lines in the history of Central football. We are fortunate to have a back with great vision that created his own opportunities! It wasn't because of the hogs up front! The QB situation this year will be a 1000x better than what you have returning next year! This was a now or never situation for this program. Losing way too much and the schedule with realignment only gets tougher. The defense is losing every key contributor but Baxter. Losing your all everything kicker also. As for the coaching staff, Mallory never showed confidence in his offensive assistants. Carter sat in the box all night only to give mere suggestions that Mallory would continuously get shot down. He led the area by far in delay of game penalties due to Scout running to the sideline between every play. Thoroughly got out coached in several games that we lost. His mentality of not playing kids both ways really cost us about 2-3 victories this year. Mallory also claimed to be the offensive line coach? Enough said. Braswell had the best athletes on his side of the ball. It showed. The defense led this team until the latter part of the year. He is a fiery guys who tries to get the best our of his players. Would have loved to see several guys play both ways! Shoulda happenened. He, no doubt, will be head coach at Central one day. There are a lot of holes to fill next year. Quite frankly, it will be a long year. Mr. Funk will most definitely have to run for his life next year. This group we are losing will be sorely missed next year.
  5. Central will show up to play. Records are out the door. They will not be intimidated. If we take care of the ball, we will compete. Anything is possible!
  6. Central will show up to play. Records are out the door. They will not be intimidated. If we take care of the ball, we will compete. Anything is possible!
  7. Chattanooga Central travels to Luvingston Academy in the first round if the state playoffs. In four loses, Central has turned the ball over 23 times. In the their wins, only 4 turnovers. Ball security will be crucial in attempting to upset 9-1 Luvingston Academy. No one is giving Central a chance. Any thoughts on this game?
  8. Flat got out coached! Questionable calls by Mallory. Up 10-7 with less than 8:00 left to play? Not putting anyone deep to field the punt? Tough loss. Hope they can get over this one quickly. Should have never lost this game. Congrats to McMinn Central. Classy group.
  9. Big game tonight. Let's send this group of seniors out with style.
  10. 6 fumbles, a toss to a Hixson lineman and a late interception doomed us. Hixson pulled out all the arsenal on their offense last night. The two big pass plays to #20 were big. Then they gashed us several times up the gut on their belly calls. Refs were terrible. Really hope Scout is able to play this Friday. Funk ran possessed as always. Guapo played his heart out as usual. Gotta regroup and get win #7 against McMinn Central Friday night for this group of seniors. Then it's off to the playoffs.
  11. Been a long time since a game of this magnitude for Central football!
  12. Revenge or not. Hatred or not. Opinions or not. Truth- Friday is huge for our football team. These boys are ready. We need a huge crowd from 58 to be loud and proud at Hixson. Our boys have earned at least that much! This game is one that could carry huge momentum into the postseason! You gotta believe. #PurplePride
  13. Not saying we are gonna win, but I really like our chances! Defense is great and offense is starting to get a little swagger about them. Come on Friday!
  14. Huge game Friday night. Big game for possible playoff seedings. Can't believe it's that quiet on here!
  15. Say what you want, I know several players still talk vividly about what happened last year. It has not been forgotten. Now to talk about this years matchup..........Hixson has been playing some good football. They currently are in the drivers seat for 6AA. However, I believe that the Pounders have hit their stride. They have found their identity on offense. Defense is one the best in the state. Stats back that up. This will be a big game and measuring stick to see where we are in the grand scheme of things.
  16. This is the game we have been waiting on. There is some bad blood still remaining from last years contest. How in the world can you clap and yell when a kid gets hurt? This should be a great game. Can the Pounders D stand up to Wildcats offense? Can the Central offense continue putting points on the board? It's definitely worth a game of the week nomination!
  17. Friday is here. Football is back on the hill. Great night of festivities planned for Homecoming 2014. Now let's get out there and bring home the "W"!
  18. Glad to be back on the hill! Gonna be a great Friday night for some football. Pounders have got to buckle down the next two weeks. We can NOT overlook Howard! Let's do this boys!#P4L
  19. It's homecoming and the 2nd annual Central sports hall of game inductees will be introduced Friday night. The Pounders offense showed some life last Friday night! The line showed consistency in blocking. QB made some solid decision. Defense showed up as always. Kicking game was solid. Funk was unstoppable! Can the Pounders not get destracted from everything going on the hill? The Tigers come in winless but are hungry to spoil the events like they did two years ago. Is this a trap game? Are our boys looking ahead to Hixson?
  20. Really proud of the effort tonight. Huge district win for the pounders! Complete team win. P4L!
  21. Hope the Pounders O will show up tonight! Really big game. P4L!
  22. What you see is what you get. No adjustments. Just hope Funk can keep fighting for yardage. Pass game has become non existent? QB is running for his life. Too many weapons outside for this! Tomorrow is a must win for both teams. Key stat for the Pounders. 4 wins 3 turnovers. 2 losses 11 turnovers! Weather could play a role in that tomorrow.
  23. Guys I'm not throwing blame anywhere. Facts are facts though. We have too many weapons to keep running the same 7-8 plays we have? I just think that he has to open it up more to allow out athletes a chance to succeed. He makes the opposing defensive coordinators job way too easy!
  24. Anxious to see if two weeks will change anything in the predictable offensive calls. Got to take care of the football. 1 turnover in 3 wins and 11 turnovers in 2 loses. Defense will be ready. Play calling on offense has to be less vanilla for us to have a chance! Huge game for both teams! Let's see what kind of coach Mallory is? Plain Jane as the fist 5 games, or can he actually make the needed adjustments? The jury is out. Let's go Pounders!
