Well Oakland (2001, 3-7 and 2002, 2-8) was a while ago and the Riverdale game was the 1st round of the 2015 play offs at Finley Stadium after so much rain they didn't want to play at Bradley. It was moved to Finley and we lost in the last minute of the game.
2015 is still a long while ago in regards to HSFB, doubt any player is going to have that in mind on either side should meet up

Oakland has the name now, but we lost to Riverdale last time we played them so would like to get revenge there. But that would be counting chickens before they hatch.
BC also lost the last time they faced Oakland since we're keeping track. I don't think it will matter much either way, assuming Bradley wins

Good points and I guess that makes sense as an administrator long term but to the expense of this years' seniors and juniors who likely will never see the playoffs. Could have started new school with some much-needed success early on if they went 4A. These kids these days seem to need instant gratification and this west Nashville public school hasn't seen success since Jerry Link (2004). Good luck to the staff holding on to the young talent as many of the Nashville public school coaches poach players during the 7 on 7 offseason.
If it were up to me, all new schools would be ineligible for the postseason anyways, but no guarantee they would have found any greater success in 4A. Lawson has the same problem every other MNPS school not named Pearl or EN has. They seem to be in good hands with the current HC
BTW, let's not put all the blame on the kids for the current state of transfers across TNHSFB the adults are far more responsible

What's the radio station for this game, I listen to the games on the tune-in app and for a couple years wgns covered the Oakland games but the past couple years I haven't been able to listen to an Oakland game on wgns
Well WGNS is the one I know for sure, I'd try going to their website, https://www.wgnsradio.com/sports

That seems like one of the worst jobs in the State and it got posted a few days ago. Is anybody ever going to be able to do better than like 2-8 there? Seems tough on the kids...coaches...everyone involved...
Short of there being major changes within MNPS, no. Your talking about a school that nearly eliminated football just a few years ago

No doubt a tough region.
Unfortunately for CC, anywhere in 6A, probably 5A as well is going to be a tough region. 6A enrollment, but not 6A talent which is made worse with Tullahoma right down the road

Surprised by how many people are taking Oakland, not just on this thread but various platforms. We can argue whether the 2pt conversion was a fluke, but truth of the matter it's been a long time since a TN public school dominated Oakland the way Riverdale did in the 2nd half. In the first meeting, Riverdale thought it could beat Oakland, now it knows it can.
Weather could play a factor but doesn't look like it will last past the opening quarter and like any good staff I'm sure Riverdale has prepared for this scenario.
I hope Oakland makes me eat my words, but I'm taking Riverdale 27-24. This just feels too much like 2009, two teams that are very even, Riverdale just has something a little extra

Not sure when the last time you visited Hillwood was, but it certainly had a metro feel to me. Lawson had the best 9th Grade Football team in Metro this year and won the City Championship, so they have that going for them. I just don't understand why they would subject themselves to playing Page, Nolensville, Centennial, Hillsboro each year when those schools have the larger enrollment. Let's say they were in 4A and got beat by PC every year... at least they would secure a playoff berth and have the possibility to advance to the 3rd round on a consistent basis.
Best of luck tonight to East Nashville and PC. Hope both squads make it to the semis!
I can't speak for Lawson but if it were me I'd want to go ahead and get used to 5A football if that's where I was going to go, that way by Year 3 there isnt adjustment period to the uptick in quality competition

GP also has 11 wins this season and last. Championship or not, that's a good place to be.
I agree it's a good program and you can win 9-11 games there ever year, they just won't get past Alcoa

According to the linked article, 31 applied the and the field was narrowed to 6. Interviews were conducted this week, and they will be interviewed again before they make a decision.

The kind of experience McWherter implies sounds like they were in similar situations as CC, places that were hard to win at

I don't know. GP is probably a better gig really.
I guess it depends on what things you value the most. GP has a fixed ceiling as long as they are in the same class as Alcoa. In 5A, the balance of power has shifted yearly (up to this point, although West might be changing that)

Oakland’s only hope was for it to pour down rain. Looking like it’s going to clear out now. Oakland going to be in trouble.
I figured they'll be able to confuse Oakland since Aydellot is still the coach (according to you)

OR has a Sophomore WR that is going to be a star, obviously the QB will be as well. Plenty of positives to take from the season without dwelling on how it ended

MTF.....Eric Taylor played both ways agin us laist yeer and evun tha kick teems......Souper playur....Much tha way Brad Lee uses Boo......
That one slipped my mind. Taylor was out for 2/3 of the regular season so plenty fresh and I agree that Bradley uses him in a similar fashion. , but with the holes he was running through I think any of Oakland's TBs would have had a big day
What Maryville achieved will never be done again at the 5A or 6A level

Opponunts usin' studs playin' both ways haz rilly hert us.....Okelund, West, Alcoee, and now Brad Lee jist two naim a few....
There have been a few exceptions, but Oakland doesn't play hardly anybody both ways. They might play 10-15 snaps on the other side but they won't be starting. Only exception I can think of during Creasy's tenure was Jacoby Stevens. What has hurt Maryville the most the last few years is depth, especially on offense

Everybody needs to remember OR is by far the best gig Rang has had as a HC. Right in the backyard of where he played. He's not leaving OR for a program that needs fixing unless the cupboard is full, that's not the case at Fulton

I figured it would have to be someone already on staff or from the community. (Maybe one of the complaining parent's) There isn't any coach worth their salt that would touch that dumpster fire after what happened
This. Sweetwater screwed themselves royally for years to come

They're just trolling folks, figured it was obvious but I guess not

So we're in the 3rd round of the playoffs and you guys are talking about a glorified practice from 3 months ago? We're not talking about a game, we're talking about practice.....

They can put Coffee County in this region, but not Warren County. I guess they are allowing Swallows a pass.
I guess they'd rather get beat by teams in Sumner & Wilson than RuCo. They'll still be a bottom feeder in either region

Looks like they will potentially be tied into that region for the long haul too. Whoever gets this job has their work cut out for them. According to the article 4 of the 6 have "Some kind" of head coaching experience. In order to compete with these schools they better have FOOTBALL head coaching experience and multiple years at that hahaha
I do not have a dog in the fight, just love high school football across the state, I'm a west TN guy so I appreciate the incite on the program as well.
HC experience isn't gonna matter in this instance. More important to find a coach that can attract talent. Coffee might as well be a C-USA team trying to compete in a P5 conference

In 2015 Coffee Co came up here to Johnson City to take on Science Hill. What was their QB's name? He was one of the all-time toughest football players I have ever watched. The kid seemed to thrive on contact even though he was just average size. On a run play he thought nothing of plowing into 3 tacklers instead of just going down. I was very impressed and it goes to show that toughness comes in different sized packages
Your probably thinking of Alontae Taylor, who had a successful career at UT and is doing well in the NFL

Saw they had 31 apply and narrowed down to 6 to interview this week. They will narrow that pool to 3 and have another round of interviews soon after. Interested to see who they hire, that's a TOUGH region to play in.
Not just a tough region but a program with the least amount of talent every year and a successful program right down the road. They were able to benefit off of a bad region last season but replicating that will be nothing short of impossible in the RuCo region.
Potential HC Vacancies
in Class 5A & Class 6A

Not a vacancy, but got the feeling Justin Barnes ( Riverdale OC) will be a name connected to a few openings
