im just looking forward to a great game by 2 great teams, there is not a lot of pressure on either team since both are going to the sub-state round. I feel that if Oakland can keep a controlled half-court tempo in this game that they can win it. Would like to think that maybe we could get one win over Siegel, and getting a W tonight over them would certainly offset the other 3 losses. Oakland is playing well right now and its my hope that both teams play their A game tonight

It wasnt the way we wanted it to end at all but i think that it paved the way for next years team to be good. Scott Thomas and Kevin Smith (sophmores) led this team the second half of the season and now it is their team, its their time to shine. They will both be juniors and will fill 2 of the starting spots along with incoming seniors Kit Hartsfield and Andrew Barrett. Some more incoming juniors that will get big minutes next year are Tee Burnett, Tanner Gore, EJ Wilcox, and Tyler Lusk. And if Jesse Mayfield gets his head straight and returns i think Riverdale will be a top 2 team next year with Siegel. And if they can get another good transfer or two like they did this year, watch out. I sure would hate to see Scott Thomas and Kevin Smith for 2 more years though, YIKES.
i wouldnt be relying on transfers on an annual basis. getting as many as riverdale got last year is an extreme exception to the rule

at this point, there are no suprises. hs sports fan gave some advise on things we could do to beat columbia, its not like he let a big secret of the bag. Forget the hype, the emotion, etc. it all comes down to execution

I dont believe we ever said that micah was "the best thing since sliced bread". We jus said that he is one of the best jrs around. If you follow raider basketball then you would agree with us. The reason why the raider baseball team didnt beat riverdale two yrs ago is because two of their main players were suspended. But yes we will also show our support for the baseball and softball teams! If its so embarassing for you to read our posts, then i guess you mite as well jus stay away from the cpu, cause we WILL support our teams... But back to the topic, congrats to oakland to spankin the crap outta coffee last nite. Coffee never showed up and the game was never close. Congrats on a great season this yr raiders... we r proud of yall!

ATTENTION OAKLAND:
Ok, i have now turned into yall's biggest fans and will tell you exactly how to beat Columbia tonight.
1) Execute them to DEATH!! They do not defend screens very well at all, they try to beat by their athleticism, they are not very fundamental.
2) On offense they pass and screen away every time. They look to set alot of double screens and are constantly moving on offense. So if you are away from the ball, dont hug your man, get in help side and hedge screens.
3) Keep them off the FT line, they shot 81% against Riverdale last night and were also very good from 3, make them shoot contested shots and Walker and Enyard were both hot last night.
4) Play with poise, passion, and a purpose. Oakland plays with alot more class, and they will win tonight. Last night, Columbia really showed the terds they were, they had so many cheap shots and the refs just let it happen. Keep your cool and expect them to do those things and win with class tonight.
5) Bulluck is good off the dribble and looks to drive before shoot.
6) If you play zone they send a high post everytime to look for the high low or to stink in a guard so he can kick it out for the open 3, so best advice is dont let him cactch.
All I gotta say is GO PATRIOTS, beat those terds and i believe if yall can win this game tonight yall can goto state!!
eh dont be too hard on hs sports fan, there have been columbia teams in the past that have been known to play a little rough(noy knocking anyone down just saying, im sure oakland has had some guys that did play rough too) so hs sports fan is not completely off base. Im sure hs sports fan is just a little frustrated at how the game turned out last night, the fella is a very emotional and passionate fan, thats what makes him great, ill gladly take in hs sports fan as one of our own.
as for the game itself, thanks for the heads up hs sports fan but I think King knows what his team has to do to beat Columbia, i do agree with your all of your points, that is how you got to beat Columbia

I agree Oakland wins. They have a lot to play for. Oakland has 8 seniors and this is really their last chance for a couple of years to win the state title. Hopefully Oakland will matchup against Columbia than against Mt. Juliet. Does Oakland have a radio crew besides WGNS? I think Oakland should have their own radio crew that covers every game !
Nope, WGNS is it. tdluna, i know me and you have discussed that before. Im eventually going to get around to proposing the idea to principal tackett. I agree Oakland needs to have their own radio station

I'm not sure what the overall series record is. I do remember when the last time these two teams were in this exact same position though. Two years ago. At the Murphy Center. Good game. One of those where neither team's fans could ever relax. But Columbia came out on top last time on their way to the Final Four.....
i remember that game very well, was my last game as a student manager, sad times i tell ya. I dont know if any other Oakland fans feel this way, but i always feel uneasy when Oakland plays Columbia because i know that blowouts bewteen these 2 teams are few and far in bewteen

Uh....did you FORGET??/ Riverdale was the #4 team??? You were SUPPOSED to beat them...yet you let them stay in the game most of the way. They even led at one point.I don't call that a spanking. You didn't put them to bed til the 4th. Whereas....OHS hosed down CC........61-22!
both teams were expected to beat their perspctive opponents. I think most of us knew going into tonight that Oakland would beat CC and that Columbia would beat Riverdale. There will be no suprises at this point, whichever team executes the best and follows their coach's gameplan the best will get the win

Exactly the statement game I was hoping for out of Columbia. Columbia's for real. Riverdale learned the hard way tonight, and Oakland will find out tomorrow. And by the way, I agree. These Lions are just a "little" more improved than the Lions whom the Patriots ran into earlier this year

Any good team has improved dramtically from the beginning of the season, kinda obvious there. I think you will find that these Oakland Patriots are just a wee bit improved as well

All I know is that this is the game that I have been waiting on for a while now, and it's finally come to pass. This will be one heck of a ball game. I think Columbia moved past the whole "not being able to keep up with the superior District 7" thing tonight with the spanking they put on Riverdale. This comes down to just great basketball between two proven programs. And I'm calling it now. The winner of this game will make the state tournament.
With Brainerd and Bradley Central gone, you could very well be right.Btw, does anybodyknow how many times these 2 teams have met and the series record?

The key in this one for Oakland will be their Perimeter Defense. If Oakland can shut down Columbia's long range game and force their post players to try to win the game for them, i think this one goes to the Pats. Both teams can play either a halfcourt tempo or can push it up the court. Whoever sets the tempo could also go a long way in determining who will win this one

wish it could be back to the old days. Hopefully Oakland and Columbia will start meeting twice every season no matter what, it is a great rivalry no doubt, one of the more underrated ones in the midstate

ok, Columbia and Oakland meet tommorrow for a substate berth. Back in the good ole days, this use to be a heated rivalry and it still is among the fans, who comes away with the win tommorrow night?

well cant be disappointed with 3 out of 4. Oakland and Siegel were dominant tonight, not that its a suprise. any predictions for tommorrow's games. Maybe another Siegel-Oakland game

way to show some killer instinct and go for the kill instead of getting sloppy.Not a great game from Oakland, but it was more than enough to get the win. Seemed like Coffee County wanted to shut down Devin Boyd and they did, but devin had about 6-7 assits, which was a big factor early. Was very please that Matt Joines came out and shot the ball well, he needed a game like this to get his confidence back up. Your Next Columbia

Im still in a state of shock over this game, I never would have dreamed that Oakland would beat Columbia as bad as they did. Last night was one of our better games of the season and it showed. 33-14 edge in rebounds, 15-17 from the free throw line, 50% shooting from the field(57% in the 1st half) a good game for the patriots to say the least. Heres hoping Oakland can win one for our seniors and defend our Region Championship with some pride
