He’s not coming back to Maryville. Maryville has a great coach, and it’s his dream job. I’m sure tons of high schools will come calling for GQ. But I doubt he’d come back to the high school ranks, except maybe BA or another big time private school. If I was betting, he’ll get another chance as an offensive coordinator or assistant in the college ranks. He’s one of the best offensive minds in the country, and I’m not exaggerating. If you spend 5 minutes with him talking about offense, it’s obvious.

One of things I always admired/hated about Quarles is his ability to set up a special play. He knew the absolute perfect time to use it for maximum effect. That and you truly had to pick your poison with GQ, he was just as content to run the ball every down as he was to sling it all over the place.

Feels like people try to hold Hunt to say same standard as GQ and that's just not possible and he also doesn't have Gaylor & Ellis like Quarles did

Honestly, the combined region plus the comeback of middle school football may trigger something positive in that area. I have long believed there could be at least one powerhouse program in Clarksville if it wasn't, well...Clarksville.

Ultimately, the higher-ups In the Montgomery Co Admin have to be willing to let it happen before it ever actually will. A place with that much access to local talent and a thriving community doesn't need much. Even with the transience of being a military base, it's not as hard as they've made it look.

Don't think it's a big stretch if the schools are committed to fielding a good program certainly not for a lack of talent, bball in that area is stout most years

Lots of pluses for MontCo have their region. Reduced travel, chance for higher gates, guarantee of 4 schools playing at least one playoff game.  Downside is the very weak schedule that's played

Until Montgomery gets serious about its athletics, not sure the schedule is gonna matter much. Shelby is getting settled back in after their shutdown, most years their 4th seed is gonna be better than that the 1 seed in 7-6A

Funny story about playing Glencliff. Hville played them about 10 years ago at Glencliff.  Entire chain crew quit at half time. PA guy has the following announcement “ have you ever wanted to be part of the chain crew, now is your chance”. Fortunately 2 of our regular guys  were at the game and filled in.

    Lol only in metro

Haywood is a solid team with a very good running game, but not as good overall as last year. PC was a very good team last year, but look to be on another level this season...PC went to Haywood last year and knocked them out of the playoffs. Sometimes strange things happen, but sometimes it's just a forgone conclusion who the overwhelming favorite is.

Agreed on all counts. PC has lost a few semis they were the favorites in but like you said, they're on another level this year

Was he wrong tho? We all know when Shelby county shut football down for Covid kids moved to Southwind. Or they would still be irrelevant.

Doesn't matter. If he had issues with SW, take it up before the game. I'm gonna chalk it up as being in the heat of the moment bc being raised up in a football household like he was, he knows better than to come off like he did tonight
