  1. Yep what he said..... We are all experts about some stuff that really don't matter. best wishes to all parties. Coach J, Coach Cook and to GCS. I really hope for the sake of the young men at GCS that they have better success next year. GWave you have a young man with the potential to be playing on Saturdays in the younger Mason brother. His big brother looks awesome too I just don't know him personally like I do the other.
  2. I understand Chief defending GP.... but saying the coach/dad has lost sight on what really matters goes beyond defending GP. He's not bashing GP. The "WeWorking" guy is not I repeat not Coach Stan. Just an angry/frustrated supporter. This has been entertaining though I agree. GP is a place for education not a sports entertainment company. And I can tell you from personal experience there is just as much learning in failure as there is in success. (If not more)
  3. "I doubt that the Mason's had either since neither one played for him at the middle school level" ??? Yeah and that's the only way to know a guy right? Just as GP did you've under valued the benefit of community ties.
  4. Don't you hate that imaginary deck of cards! #trump2016
  5. Don't know who these guys are you're venting about but it wasn't that the Mason brothers where so unhappy with Gallatin. It was more about the family trusting and admiring the coaching job that Coach Cook had done with their son. They wanted to play with him if he was at GP. That's all. Great kids and Gwave look awesome this year. Next year will be even better.
  6. Now let me tell you why I'm personally disappointed with Goodpasture Christian school. To tell somebody who is qualified that you are good enough to be a paying member of something but not to be apart of the staff rubs me wrong. We are talking about an education professional with a Masters degree and college playing and coaching experience. We are talking about a coach with proven ties to the community around Good Pasture and a history with the school it self. We are talking about someone with a track record of winning. So yeah I didn't like the decision to hire Coach J. But I do respect it. I think GP just missed out on a good young coach. And Coach J if you are reading this which I pray you're not, lol. Good luck to you. I truly respect anyone who helps build up young men into leaders.
  7. Cheif you got a little/no alot out of hand with your judgement of Coach Cook and his moving of his son to MBA. There are numerous reasons for him to look at other schools. Saying he's lost sight of what's really important is completely out of line and judgemental. He's moving his son to a school that not only sends students academically to ivy league schools, but they also have a pretty good sports program. I know this hasn't been a haphazard decision for that family. They have been at GP for 7 plus years. Oh and BTW..... GP and C of C are not the only gateways to heaven. At least for some of us other Christians....
  8. First off in honor of Dr. King who's fight for peace and equality we honor and celebrate tomorrow let me say brothers put down your swords and shields. We are not at war with each other. But seriously GP has the right to hire who they want, PERIOD. Their rules say they will hire C of C affilates only. People might just want to do a little more research before they enroll their children there. Or consider going somewhere else now that you know this. And if you believe all Christian organization believe the samething I strongly suggest you do a little research on the Church of Christ.
  9. Oh that explaines everything...... I knew that GCS was a Christian school I didn't know you had to belong to a specific denomination to work there. Well I'm sure there are some great, available, Church of Christ coaches out there. I wonder do the parents at GCS support that idea? I'm sure they must or else they would just place their children somewhere else.
  10. Sorry that was "head football coach" and "out score their opponents" One lost on the season btw... #ThanksGoodpasture
  11. Goodpasture has some diversifying to do if you ask me. Not just to recruit athletes but to stay relevant in this Nashville community. CPA has the level of transfers they have in the basketball program because Drew Maddux knows how to relate to parents and kids of all backgrounds. Im not sure, correction I am sure Goodpasture isnt there yet.
  12. Funny that same coaching prospect went to a middle school in the area as the AD and had football coach and made some very positive changes. Their attendance at games more than doubled according to the principle. They went from a 2 and 4 team last year to a team that out scored three opponents 134 to to 24. He was a first year metro coach and won the respect of every coach he played. Not only because of the product on the field but also because of the way the team carried themselves.
  13. Best wishes to the new coach, sincerely. Good luck next season GP. Time to move on.
  14. As I said and you confirmed by your list of schools MOST of the public schools in Metro are still behind academically. So of I love in Metro and have a student athlete who I want the best academic and athletic experience for Goodpasture is the prime choice. So when asked is this a good job, yes because from a stand point of potential talent and sheer quality of overall program. Can't find a better place in the area. I'm a realist not an elitist. I just hope they hire somebody who can make the school feel a little more accepting to the community.
  15. Yeah I think it is a great job. If you look at the teams in that region there is no reason why Goodpasture shouldn't be at the top every year. No school in this region can offer the educational opportunity that Goodpasture can. I hate to say it because it really is shameful and unfair but public schools are still way behind in metro. Any news on the coaching selection process?
  16. All these coaches that you guys are named sound like more of the same to me. I think Goodpasture needs a coach with playing experience that has a connection to the school and an ability to connect to the current players as well as the ability to connect to the community. The only way Goodpasture competes with the other private schools (because that's what we really want) is to have a coach that makes parents feel that playing at Goodpasture would be good for their child. Otherwise the Ensworths, Brentwood Academy, and MBAs keep getting the majority of the talent even the talent that attends Goodpasture until middle school. How many good players have you all lost to these schools in the last 5-6 years? The lower school team lost 1 game this year. I know it's not the same as high school ball but it seems to me that you had talent and coaching on that level. Will your new coach be able to keep that talent from leaving? Will he be able to motivate the current players to play with pride and respect? Goodpasture one of the only Christian based school in the heart of Northern Nashville. Why aren't your doors being beat down by families in the area who want a good education and athletic experience for their kids? Might be that your athletic program is missing an opportunity by looking across the state and even out of the state for what you have in your back door. You guys have a coach who has a child who has attended Goodpasture since Kindergarden who played college ball and coached on the college and high school level. He has all the credentials and experience to lead Goodpasture back to prominance. I won't name him out of respect for the process but I sure hope and pray that those making the decision don't call the same play that they called on the last choice. I'm honestly tired of the schools in the lower half of Nashville thinking that they are better. I believe in the core values of Goodpasture and I believe it's time for a fresh new start. Not a recycled, refurbished one.
  17. I hope Goodpasture pays attention to the talent pool of coaches and players they currently have in the middle school classes. Simply hiring another coach who has no connection to the community (in the school already and the geographical community surrounding the school) will only be a temporary fix if the new football coach can't keep the talent in the lower grades from moving on to the Ensworths and BA's of the private school world. Or attract some of the local athletes in the area who would and could help bring Goodpasture athletics back to life as a whole. There is a multitude of talent in the Madison/Goodlettsville area that would consider a private Christian education if Goodpasture had some representation at head coach that had proven ties to the community. Goodpasture's best choice at head coach is someone who knows the game and knows how to connect with Christian athletes.
