  1. 8 regions per class, 3 grand state divisions, east and west playoff brackets, my head just exploded.
  2. Life long buddies and former players. The staff is definitely all in for Kingsport, but that doesn't necessarily mean its for the best. I'm with you on this one Waco.
  3. Football will get overhauled, this much is known. As to how much the non-football sports are affected remains to be seen. The TSSAA Agenda for tomorrow says they will look at enrollment changes of 20% increase or 20% decrease and reclassify them in non-football sports. That doesn't really apply to any of the schools in our area. 20% is a major swing in either direction, the enrollment numbers in our area have remained somewhat steady over the past two years. If the TSSAA does not change the boundaries of Class A, AA, and AAA then the status quo in upper east Tennessee will remain. The only possible changes I could see are seeing Sullivan Central (smaller AAA school) and Sullivan North (new enrollment numbers would put them a the bottom of AA) drop a classification, but even that will be a stretch. The next major classification cycle is to be done for the 2018 school year if I'm not mistaken, with revisiting of enrollment changes every two years.
  4. Bump Saw the article in the Times News on Monday which gave nuggets on each team. Looks to be a Science Hill and David Crockett race. DB's four best players are no longer with the program.
  5. Understood, applies to the three classifications for non-football sports. I crunched a couple of numbers and figure that if the TSSAA doesn't change the numerical boundaries of each classification, nothing much will change. It will be rather hard for a 20% enrollment drop to occur unless a new school opens or a major employer in an area closes and a mass exodus of population from said community occurs. I should retitle this thread "Nothing to see here", but you never know with the TSSAA how strict they'll be with their rules or foresight.
  6. Looks like some teams may be moving up or down, though I don't foresee many doing that. I'll be keeping a curious eye on what comes out of this section of the meeting on Thursday. 20% can be very relative amount. 10. Classification (9:00 a.m.) TSSAA Board of Control Policy states that schools that have had a 20% increase or decrease in enrollment which causes them to be in a different class must be moved during this meeting. The staff will present this information. Division I Football will also be reclassified based on the new Six Class Plan approved by the Board in August. Can anyone point me in the direction of enrollment numbers used in the previous classifying cycle? I'd like to crunch some numbers myself.
  7. I originally started this thread to see what DB had coming back next year out of curiosity. In no way does that mean anyone has given up on the 2014 campaign. There is a DB-SH thread for that. If you'd rather comment there about 2014 matters, by all means do that. This is more or less a futures thread, plain and simple.
  8. I miss Watson, just had a discussion with a friend and we were talking about former DB defenses and drivers ed with the old man. RIP sir, RIP.
  9. I suppose when it came playoff time they could split this super region back up into what it would be with this proposed plan. Region 1 #1-#4 and Region 2 #1-#4.
  10. I'll be keeping up with this one on the radio and Twitter. Too cold for my 1 year old.
  11. What is to be expected this year? Any preseason prognostications? Football is over for all but Dobyns-Bennett and Science Hill.
  12. Region 1/2 Super Region Sub 1 Cloudland Unaka Hancock County Sub 2 Jellico Oneida Sunbright Sub 3 Coalfield Oakdale Concord Christian Sub 4 Harriman Midway Greenback In this quick example, for a school like Cloudland, they would play Sub 1 opponents Unaka and Hancock County each year. Let's say in the first year, they play Sub 2 opponents Jellico, Oneida, Sunbright, and Sub 4 opponents Harriman, Midway, Greenback. This kind of schedule would guarantee two games with "local" opponents (local is very loosely used), and then 6 more games (3 on the road) with super regional opponents. May not be a perfect system, but it's a start. That would give Cloudland a conference schedule of or something like: vs. Unaka @ Hancock County @ Jellico vs. Oneida @ Sunbright @ Greenback vs. Concord Christian vs. Harriman Trip to Hancock County (2 hours, 7 minutes) Trip to Jellico (3 hours, 1 minute) Trip to Sunbright (3 hours, 22 minutes) Trip to Greenback (2 hours, 51 minutes)
  13. Cloudland, Unaka, and Hancock County's distance from everyone else is the main reason the TSSAA gave them a Region label rather than a District label for football in this past cycle. These three schools will always be at a loss when it comes to being lumped with others. I almost wish they'd just make Region 1 and 2 a super region where they have schedules with rotating opponents, but that'd be too proactive for the state. We're talking about 4 conference game road trips. For Region 2 that might beneficial, but for Region 1 that would be out of necessity.
  14. Always great info JetPride, very happy to hear this.
  15. You guys seem to respond quicker than most and with good information at that. Help me out here... TSSAA Classification - Two Year Adjustments http://tssaa.org/tss...ar-adjustments/ Would they have already announced district moves to the public? I don't know if Sullivan North or Happy Valley's enrollment has dropped 20%, but that's make D1-1A a bit more competitive in all other sports. Sullivan North Happy Valley Hampton Cloudland Unaka University High North Greene South Greene

  17. Crazyness, which team are referencing schedule is almost done?
  18. I should have known better than to expect a response. Cya guys.
  19. I'd think Tennessee High or Greeneville are the last logical options, with so much travel already, keep one local would be a good idea.
  20. I really want DB to schedule Oak Ridge again. I traveled many times to the Ridge to watch some the classics between us and them. I'd really think Greeneville should be added as well. Haven't heard anything about the Greene Devils though.
  21. North plans to schedule the other Sullivan County schools to round out their schedule, that's the plan anyway.
