  1. But a cording to some Sequatchie insiders they will have 70-80 kids dressed out.
  2. Hixson was funny to you last year when Marion gave the game away to them in the 4th qtr but they were Championship contenders this year when they completely owed your Pirates. Now that's funny.
  3. This might be a closer game that you expect. Ken only lost to SP twice while he was at Marion. Food for thought.
  4. First of all, Marion isn't going through these issues, at least not to the level that is being reported from last Frday at the Speedway. We have the rail birds but what school doesn't? We may even have a kid or two that feels they are t getting the PT that they should get. But, again, what school doesn't. We haven't had any of the helmet throwing, pad shedding, and sideline cuss feats that your posters have described. I think that if Marion did have any issues they would manifest themselves in the Central, Sequatchie, CCS (passing game) or South Pitt games. Those are some that would be contested enough to bring out the worst of the players. Speaking of SP, I've only seen them play one qtr at the jamboree. However, I did notice one player there that seemed to have this type of attitude/behavior. After the qtr was over he didn't walk through the line to shake hands and when that Moore man huddled them up for a quick post game talk, he refused to join his team. The explanation that was offered to me was that he was hurt. Maybe there was more to it.
  5. This is the type of game that will do little to solve any teamwork issues, if there are any. No offense to Sale Creek because I respect the heck out of their coaches and players for starting up a program. But, because they are a start-up program they will offer little resistance to the Pirates. We all know that winning makes you happy and winning big is just downright exhilarating. If the Pirates do indeed have a problem with teamwork, they won't be able to work those issues out until they are tested in the heat of battle. Just my opinion and it means nothing to most of you because I wear purple!
  6. ChickenDave. Most coaches don't want people coming to their practice field and offering advice. If a coach wants your advice he'll probably ask. That's the problem I see with football whether it's SP, MC, Whitwell, middle school or pee wee... You go to any practice and there'll be a whole gaggle of people standing/sitting around watching and talking about what's happening. Every mamma, daddy, uncle, aunt, and grandparent there thinks they know more about how things should go than the coaches do. I thank God that in my sport I can lock the gym doors and close my practices off to the general public. You don't like my opinions because I wear Purple that's fine but you can't deny that I have a valid point.
  7. Hahaha. Original? Did you think of that one on your own? You prove to be a stereotypical SPitt fan... Can't get anyone's name correct. You missed twice in the same sentence. 😎ðŸ‘
  8. Profanity will not be tolerated on these boards... Even when cleverly hidden.
  9. Whitwell historically never has supporters on CoachT. I know a couple of guys from a neighboring school that made up new names one year and pretended to be Whitwell fans just so their kids would feel like someone cared. Sad reality.
  10. Coaches are put in a very tough spot. If they discipline kids by sitting them out or by removing them from the team, then wins will suffer and the supporters will lose confidence. I have coaching buddies who allow their kids to showboat on the court because they need those kids to win games. I refuse to worry that much about wins/losses. I'd rather lose every game with a group of kids that show respect for themselves and others than win every game with disrespectful, undisciplined players. I preach to my kids constantly that they represent themselves, their team, their school and their community. I expect them to not do anything on the court or off that would shed a negative light on MCHS. I've had players quit and I've removed players who did not want to buy into that philosophy. With that said, these are kids and you have to let them enjoy the game or they won't want to play. For that reason, I'm more lax in practice and I let them showboat and trash talk each other to get it out of their system. Our practices are closed so it's just us that sees and hears it. I constantly remind them that we don't act that way in games. The point in all this is, that Moore man has to make a decision on how much he is willing to allow to happen based on the demands from the community in terms of wins/losses. Given his age, I'd bet his philosophy is similar to mine and Old Pie Rat's, but he has slightly more pressure to win than we do. As for the rail birds, I hate to see parents go to the fence and talk to their kids. All high school football teams need those benches like professional soccer uses that have the plastic shields behind them. As a basketball coach, it's easier to control players/parents communicating because we are all in close proximity. The first time it happens I tell the parent and player both that if they want to communicate during a game the kid can buy a ticket and sit next to them. Usually fixes that problem.
  11. Fellers. Again I hate to agree with Old Pie Rat but he's dead nuts on. Since I have been coaching I've said that Professional sports has killed the high school game. The Pro's are paid millions of dollars to "entertain" and they do that by showboating, hand jesturing and trash talking. These kids look at it and because some NFL or NBA star does it, then it OK for me to do it. Look at Johnny Autograph. I'm old school and I think that you should preserve the dignity and integrity of the game. Let your play on the field of court do the talking for you. These self-promoting displays have not place in amatuer sports. I don't allow any displays on my team. I once sat a senior starter because he flexed his bicep after making an "and-1" on an intentional foul. I don't know that Moore man or his philosophy on such antics but coaches can control those actions pretty easily. Coaches control playing time. Make an example of one, maybe two, then the rest will fall into line. If they don't want to conform then they don't need to be on the team because they are a cancer. Just my opinion.
  12. It's easy to be civil when the conversation isn't about Marion vs South Pitt football.... Marion wins this game in the first half. Not even close.
  13. LMPGAO again. Why would I take it the wrong way? It's not everyday that a MC coach gets compliments from SP fans.... But I think you are selling The SP basketball program short. They have made it to the Region Tournament more in the past 7 years than my teams have.
  14. It's a sad state of affairs when MCHS Basketball and MCHS Cheerleading get more talk on a football board than WHITWELL football does. ðŸ€ðŸ€ðŸ€
  15. LMPGAO. Old Pie Rat's kin folk that live around the jailhouse certainly don't share your admiration for our basketball team. According to most folks, I can't coach, which may be true. Your question sounds like a "grass is greener" type of question. Coach Phillips started coaching at SP the same year that I started coaching at MC. He has 3 more wins than I do in that time span. We are 7-7 in head to head meetings. So, I don't think you could say one team is decidedly better than the other. It's always an exciting time when our teams square off and I look forward to t least two more good games this year.
  16. Try and keep up Old Pie Rat... No one said 98NC was a coach. As a matter of fact, she said she was a cheerleader... Chicken Dave had us confused and he was the one that started this mess. I don't know 98NC but I'll take her at her word.
  17. Ambassador was talking about 98NC doing a great job with the boys. I don't get to have anything to do with any football boys until football season is over. 😎
  18. Baseball or basketball? I can promise you 98NationalChamps is not the Basketball coach. ðŸ‘
  19. Loser. I like that. Coming from you I take that as a compliment. You wear your jealousy well. ðŸ‘😎
  20. As bad as I hate to agree with OP, this post is spot on! ðŸ‘
