What’s the QB situation look like for next year? If the kid that starts graduates, we’ll have 1 QB on the roster? Never thought I’d see that at Maryville.

Wasn’t sent by anyone else. That was my own thought. You said you didn’t think Maryville had a chance to even keep it close. That’s why I asked that. If you read my most recent post, you would see that I questioned the overall offensive philosophy over the last couple of years. We seem to have went from running the ball and attacking and using the run to set up the pass, to running the ball exclusively and playing extremely conservative in the pass game. That has cost us in big games the last couple of years. This has to change in my opinion. Just like RebelRon said, you can’t be one dimensional and beat good teams.

I’m a big Derek Hunt supporter and I think he’s a great coach. But I have to say, I think the last 2 years especially, the overall offensive scheme has changed dramatically and cost Maryville in big games. We used to pride ourselves on running the ball and putting pressure on opposing defenses by stretching the field and using our run game to set up the passing game. Recently, I feel like there’s been a philosophical change offensively and it doesn’t play to our advantage in the big games against the better teams. We still pride ourselves on the run game, as we should. But I don’t feel like it’s used to set up the passing game as much, and most passes are right around the line of scrimmage. That doesn’t put much pressure on defenses if that’s all you do. Again, he’s a great coach and I hope he’s here for a very long time. I just think there needs to be some adjustments made if we want to get back to winning championships. Especially if you’re gonna get past a team like Oakland. Just my thoughts. Anyone agree, or am I way off base here?

I completely agree here. He made a big difference in many areas. He started the video program when I was there, and grew it into something special. He is already greatly missed.

Anyone know what’s up with the Maryville NFHS livestream this year? Tried watching the Farragut game last week, but it was not even streaming for most of the game and when it was w streaming, there were no announcers and the cameras weren’t even focused in on the play most of the time. Don’t want to harp on it too much, because I know they’re doing the best they can, but it’s frustrating not being able to watch the games.
