  1. WC and MJ are very similar in age. Both teams only play 1 senior. Station Camp also has some good young players, with a post out due to ACL injury. Hendersonville and Lebanon both play several seniors. As far as the district being down, I don't know if that applies to anyone other than MJ...maybe Station Camp. Central and Portland are probably better than last year. No dominant post player (Degray), which has been a staple in district 9 for years..
  2. WC got the win as Kendall Spray was clearly the best player on the floor. She had 26 and look determined to end the streak. Only 22-21 at half as the game was being played at a slower pace. WC improved the post defense in the 3rd and 4th quarter and went on a 22-4 run to put the game away. Got to believe that the next time these teams play, Fryer will try something different to defend Spray. Seen everyone in the district at least once. WC, MJ, and Hendersonville (with their size) are the three best teams. Not sure what has happened to Lebanon. Thought they would be better.
  3. By my unofficial count, MJ has won the last 9 or 10. Last win for WC was region semi-finals in 2011.? Until WC proves they can win, you got to stick with the reigning champ. Who you got BIgBoy?
  4. Kendall Spray from Central drops 54 against Harpeth Hall. Sets a new state record for 3's in a game with 14. All done in 3 quarters of play. There are better players in the state, but it is hard to imagine there will be a better performance. Could not happen to a better kid.
  5. Are you really suggesting that posting thousands of comments under the cover of a fake identity is a source of pride? Now that is funny and sad...all at the same time. Also, he did not "pay the price". The price also included a 1 year suspension from coaching by his employer, the Rutherford Co school system. He avoided "paying the price" by resigning and finding a school system that was willing to look the other way. Not sure how Coach Barrett can discipline any players at Lebanon, with the example he has provided.
  6. I don't have a problem with Cory getting a second chance, we all make mistakes. Do not understand how Rutherford Co could suspend for 1 year and a neighboring county just ignores the punishment. Important that we teach our kids how to accept responsibility for our actions, or just run to the next county......
  7. Funny. These families are moving to Murfreesboro because it is a desirable place to live. Interesting how none of these kids end up at siegel (which is in Murf., last time I checked). People that bend the rules always accuse those that call them out as bitter! Oakland is a good basketball team and has a good shot to get to the finals. Oakland's trip to the glass house was assisted by two girls that are playing on their third team in three years. That is not bitterness, just a fact. No one, including you really believe that is what high school sports is supposed to be about. Enjoy the games and root for your team, but don't whine when people point out the facts of how that success was achieved.
  8. Being a Wilson Co basketball fan it is hard to hear how Oakland advanced. The two players mentioned grew up in Wilson County schools. Abby Wright played at Lebanon and Shelby would be at Wilson Central. Nothing illegal about what was done, but it does show that if you are not participating in the "legal transfer" game, it is hard to compete at the highest level. High school girls basketball has become more like an AAU tournament. MJ's two best players came from Cane Ridge and played with AAU with a former MJ player.
  9. This really what you are going with...Strategic planning. When business leaders and Generals choose to "lose the battle" in an effort to "win the war", they don't tell their soldiers to fire their weapons just don't hit anything. They don't put a bad product in the market or employ bad marketing ideas. Good leaders don't ask their employees or soldiers to embarrass themselves in the name of strategy. Also, they are not using kids!
  10. You are correct that one of the goals in high school sports is to win. The other goals are to teach young people the value of hard work, team work, and to respect the game and your opponents. The lesson here kids is that when the road gets difficult, quit trying and see if there is an easier path. Good lesson!
  11. Been a fan of MJ for a long time and this team will get to Murfreesboro. The 2 best players on this team did not come up through middle school. Nothing illegal, just not home grown. Chris will do a great job regardless, but next year they will need outside help to stay as dominant. Word on the street is that a big post player is headed their way. This is just how it is done. 3 of 5 starters for both Oakland and Blackman are "legal" transfers.
