I played high school baseball in Tennessee. I have always thought a change to a summer schedule would be beneficial. A lot of northern states do this. My wife is from Iowa, high school baseball is played in late may to July months there. This would hurt summer travel teams but, only if the travel teams played on weekends and school ball during the week. It's very difficult playing a high school schedule starting in March. Weather is so unpredictable. I honestly feel like a move to summer months would be way more beneficial.

Well, another year and another disappointing season. What's the problem?

Just read where volunteer still has a shot at the playoffs. A Seymour loss to greeneville and a granger loss to Cherokee with a win by volunteer would create a 3 way tie. Not sure what the tie breaker is. Not sure any of the 3 care to finish 4th to be honest. Knox catholic would await.

What are your stats to prove that? Venable, in my opinion, is the best coach volunteer ever had. Most wins as a head coach and first winning season as head coach. Hard to argue with that.

Takes me back to the old IMAC or 5 rivers conference minus TN High and Boone. Not having Mo West and Greeneville are key! Both teams used to own this conference. Volunteer has a chance at beating all these teams. Obviously, I wish they were still in their current conference but, I'm not upset about this.

Volunteer will squeeze one against south and finish 5-5. Not a terrible year but a year volunteer fans have seen too many times before. Must turn the corner for people in church hill to get excited!

What an offense Cherokee has! 77-0 greeneville... my goodness... greeneville must've had it out for Cherokee.

Haha im not that confident man. I never said volunteer will win, I just think they could possibly hold their own.

Scrimmages don't mean a darn thing! And yeah east scored 21 points on Greeneville but gave up 62!!! We can go back and forth all day long. I could say Greeneville scored 62 on east but 45 on volunteer. Volunteer must have a better defense but that's just dumb.

I'll be the first to admit when I'm wrong. East proved me wrong last Friday. They must be better than I expected. I still think Volunteer has a chance here.

We will get a descent idea of how good Sullivan east is after this week. I, personally don't think east is that good. Seymour by 28 at least.

No way Sullivan East is a top 10 team in 4a. They haven't played anyone. Greeneville wins by 28 at least and East will make playoffs and lose in first round.

Volunteer loses this... Just cancel the rest of the season...

Only thing that would help volunteer is get put in the same region as cloudland and little 1a schools. Maybe then they could win more than 2-3 games a year...MAYBE!

I'm sorry but Greeneville could have 8 turnovers and still win by at least 28. I have no confidence in volunteer right now.

Yet again, north brings down all expectations. No excuse... Team just wasn't ready to play! That or volunteer is just that bad. I had high hopes for this team, now I don't expect anything more than 3-7. Major disappointment!

Still makes me wonder if our offense is pretty good this year or if Cocke co defense is just that bad? Same thing can be said about our defense. When a team scores 38 points on you win or lose still scares you going forward.

Good win for the Falcons! 235 yards rushing by Sayler. I would assume that's a school record? Only Guys I could think of that came that close were Sanchez releford and randy jones. Having said that, don't get too caught up in the win because north comes to town next week. Always a tough team and they just destroyed central. If volunteer loses to north, i don't see them contending for a playoff spot. Not with Greeneville, Seymour, Cherokee, east, south, and grainger on the schedule.

with a game vs Cherokee coming up, if volunteer loses then i know the program is in terrible shape. No reason why volunteer should ever lose to Cherokee in baseball. When i played, I never lost to Cherokee and to be honest the games were never close. Time to pick it up boys and make the alumni proud in this game.

I don't know what is going on with this program but it's the worst I've ever seen! New coach, same story. Someone please explain to me why this program couldn't tie the cleats of the teams that were fielded in the early 2000's? I understand they play in the same conference as DB and Science Hill but even in the early 2000's Volunteer used to beat Boone, Crockett, South, and central. What is going on?

Doesnt surprise me that no one gives a darn about vhs football even with a much needed new coaching staff
