As in all professions, there are some totally inadequate coaches. As in all professions, we take criticism. It's called life. I wish people would defend teachers as much as they do coaches. A coach should not be exempt from criticism or praise. Some of them ARE in the wrong profession. Some of them are in the right one, like-- Coach Frazier, Coach Coady... Just my opionion...

I knew the band thing was a joke, but what about the brothers. Is that for real?

Dresden High School does not have a band. Who are these new players on the team? I have never heard of them. I guess I'll see Friday night.

With all due respect, sometimes that just doesn't work. I still think it matters if you are a teacher, work in the central office, go to a certain church, or are buds with the coach. The players just have to do the best they can and try to have some fun.

On the other hand, why do some coaches leave players on the team for four years and never play them?

Where is the McKenzie football field? Is it where the middle school plays also?

I don't think that any sincere question is stupid. I don't know where you live, but politics always plays a role in sports in some way or another. It CAN matter who you are, what church you go to, whether or not a player has a parent that is a teacher, works in the central office, or is buds with the coach. Yes, talent matters BIG time, but other things factor in. Just my opinion....

Humboldt actually played a good game. At the beginning of the game I thought that they looked more athletic than Dresden. In the last quarter, Humboldt started looking tired though.

Dresden won. 42 - 34 They came back from being behind 21 - 0.

I do try to watch football on T.V. A live game is much more interesting. (I realize that there is a difference between pro football, college level and high school) I try to catch local teams. I am not trying to pick on Dresden, but their coach confuses me. I know it is easier to call plays from the stands than to be down in the trenches. Even though you seem to want to cut me down, I am still going to pay you a compliment. I heard that you did a really good job last Friday night.

If Humboldt has the speed they had last year, Dresden is going to have to really hustle. I do have a question for you football smart folks. Why does Dresden plow down the middle almost every time? With their speed why don't they go around the big pile up? Are players allowed to make the adjustment even if it's not in the "play?"

Clements was standing on the sidelines with crutches for much of the game.

It looked to me that OC certainly played hard. It seemed like they got by with -- roughing the passer, clipping, late hits, and face masking. I was stunned when the officials actually called one of the "clips" and a "late hit." Just my opinion...

Just my opinion... I don't think of Hewitt as a one man team. He is fast and all, but he doesn't make or break that team. If one person can make a difference, I think that would be the coach. MONITOR and ADJUST!

I think I saw Adam Clements limping some against East Robertson. I wonder if he is 100%? Also, I wonder if Hewitt is 100% since he didn't finish the game. I hope they don't go into the game dehydrated.

Did anyone great ever come out of Dyer County?

Just my opinion..... Dresden seemed tired. I think Hewett had to have an I.V. for dehydration before the game was over. It was not THAT hot. I wonder if the kids were already a little dehydrated from practices this week. I think coaching lost this game. All the players seemed to be putting forth effort. In my opinion, the coach didn't seem to make adjustments. Don't you have to adjust and strategize as a coach?

I have never seen East Robertson, but I have watched Dresden's scrimmages. In my opinion, their offense needed a lot of work. I thought offense was sloppy and made some mistakes that made me think they don't totally understand the game. Is that the coach's fault?

I wonder if any of the professional teams use them? I know that doesn't help you, but an opthamologist might know.

Ripley 3, Dresden 0, Ripley kicked a field goal to get on the scoreboard. Dresden's defense looked good. No comment on offense.

I am not 100% sure, but I think it was 2 to 1, Dresden.

How does a coach know how far to push players? Can football players crash each other too aggressively? What if you injure your lineup before the first game?

According to the local paper, Dresden will be playing Ripley. I don't know what kind of match up that will be.
