  1. We are offically in the dead period. That only means that football is getting closer. Whhoo Hooo! I look forward to see if this group of senoirs is up to the challenge. All indicators say yes. Let's Go Tornadoes!
  2. I hope you are right. There is a lot of tradition down there. The only thing I see standing in your way in recent years is defense. We had that very same problem in 2012. We could score on anybody but couldn't keep the opposing team out of the endzone. With the type offense we run we need a stout defense to help out. When you don't have both sides of the ball covered you are not going to go very far. Good luck.
  3. Bigster, I'm not sure but isn't Lake County an open zone school system? I know there is only one school in the county but you get to choose from the entire county right? I'm just saying. Be careful what you wish for. There was a time when LC ruled the 1A division.
  4. I apologize for not understanding what you were trying to say. I see the point you are trying to make but keep in mind that simply because a school is in an open zone does not mean that there is an automatic advantage. UC has had some very mediocre years. We will have them again. It depends upon the kids and the work ethic they possess. There is a great divide in our county. You are raised either City or County and there are some exceptions but most stick with their heritage. If the rule comes down that open zoned schools will be penalized then UC will close the door to open zone and we will not miss a beat. I don't know what people will talk about if and when that happens. I truly hope we can keep Coach Bowling for many years to come. I also hope to be playing NCS for the right to represent the west once again in Cookeville. My best to you and yours.
  5. Kenny if you were to come to Union City and go through the enrollment files, I can garuntee that you will find that our student body is made up of 95% city address. I know we are open enrollment and I know that sounds unfair but you also must undserstand the dinamics of County versus city in our area. For many years both UC and OC were the same classification (2A). There was an overwhelming amount of animosity between the 2 schools and lines were drawn in the sand by the community, not by the state. You were either County or City and your loyalties were strong. It was mainly determined by where your parents went to school. You could live in Union City and catch a bus or drive to Troy Tn to Obion County Central. Over the years OC has grown and grown while UC has dropped to the 1A level. Now how does that make sense? We have lost more to OC than we have gained. And the idea that we have the entire county to choose athletes from is just stupid. Most of the county population is very rural and those kids catch the bus to OC. One last thing. If you want to beat Union City, work harder than we do. We have had more bad years than good. Our success of late has to do more with Coach Bowling and his coaching and training program. Those boys work hard for him and believe in what he does. If you want to beat a team like that your are gonna have to out work them. I challenge you to find some real data to support your comment.
  6. Thanks to hevy and pujo for using a sensible approach to this issue. We don't try to control our numbers even though there are elements out there who say differently. We play by the rules just like everyone else. We are growing in our Jr. High and Elementary enrollments and will be one of the smallest 2A schools in the state again and we will still compete. Oh yeah......we won't squall about having to play bigger 2A schools either.
  7. Thank you for being honest. It's nothing we are doing. But like I said earlier if anyone else could switch situatuions with us they would.
  8. The one thing I find hilarious in all of this is that if and when UC does move back up to 2A, those posters complaining and squalling about our classification will still suck. It won't change a thing for them.
  9. Bla Bla Bla. Heard it all before Bigster. Heard it all before. Don't care anymore. UC moved to 1A in 2004 or 2006 or somewhere in there,. atleast a decade ago. We've had some good years and some bad years but it's only when we have the good years that people complain about our classification. I am certain of one thing and that is, If anyone in 1A could switch places with us they would. So go ahead and rant that some old tired line. I don't care anymore.
  10. He didn't write a full page ad Bigster. A simple comment is not what you did. It was a commentary. Besides, we don't need Wilkes. We have speed everywhere and another big strong OLine. We will not better than last year, but then again we don't have to be. We will be better than the 2013 team. Those are the words from Coach Bowlings mouth when I last spoke to him. Just so you don't get butt hurt, I will explain what I meant about not having to be as good as last year. The 2014 team was a special team that comes around once every 20 or 30 years. You can win 1A most years with a team far less dominating.
  11. Trenton will still be Trenton. Fast and athletic. Coaching change can be huge for some schools but not Peabody.
  12. Why would I do the haapy the dance? We have beaten Trenton the last 2 years and last year Coach Woods was there. I don't care who is there. We will line up and play UC grind it out football or we will use the speed factor. Either way it will be a good, tough, hard fought game.
  13. Bigster, I did not hear the LC coach personally but some very reliable sources said it was so. He was mad about the scores being so high. But what are you supposed to do when your starting offense has 5 or 6 one play drives and scores on all of them? Next do you tell the second team players not to score if they get a chance? I think we have both been on this side of the scoring issue before. I don't like blowouts. They are boring. It is a fact that only the UC kicker made the All District team last year and the catalyst behind it was the LC coach. So whether it's true or not our players believe that it is. They will have no problem gettingready for the Falcons. Back to back State Champs and only the Kicker gets recognition from thier own district. Like you said something is wrong.
  14. Alright alright. I said Wilkes is deserving of everything he gets. Did I not? He is Awesome. Please don't be like the other 2 or 3 LC posters who come to our threads and make everything they say about LC. Bigster start a Wilkes Thread. As far as your coach is concerned it wasn't Wilkes that I was talking about. The only player from UC who made the All District Team was our kicker. Now tell me how that happens. A team that went back to back state Champions and only the kicker makes All District? Well it may be and does sound far fetched but either way our players believe that your coach had a hand in it. If they believe it, that's all that matters as far as getting ready to play LC is concerned. I'm sure no one from UC will tell them diffrent Get ready.
  15. Bigster Bigster Bigster. The One thing I can say thing for you and is "You are consistent". I know Wilkes is a great athlete and I am thrilled he is getting the looks from those schoold he deserves. He did have a good game against us with the majority coming on one long run. with all that said and done, what was the final score? I can't remember what LC had on the board but UC had 63 points. I think that says it all. I hope Wilkes gets all he deserves to get whether it be at the district, region or state level. One thing to bare in mind when it comes to LC and UC. After the way your foolish coach rallied against our team by getting other coaches in the district not to vote for any UC players at the District level, will be a sore spot for the Tornadoes for a long time coming. Now you can come back and say it's not true but we know that it is. So thank your coach for the butt whoopin LC will get once again this season. Now for you, keep thinking UC will have a huge drop off this year and you will be crying in your beer again.
