  1. Score prediction time (I was only off by 8 last week). Wildcats win this one with home field advantage and defense. Go Wildcats! Polk-35 ER-21
  2. And if I remember right, didn't the Cats steal one at Beene Stadium too? Both are hard places for visitors to come away with a win. Really loved the atmosphere at SP. Miss that game.
  3. I agree, this one should be close. I'm going with the wildcats in this one simply because it's @ Polk. PC is usually hard to handle at home. Go Wildcats!
  4. Moved this to the 2A board, because I didn't realize it was @Polk. Thoughts on this game? Haven't heard much about ER. I know they lost a Mr. Football award winner last year. Polk looked good against Basin, but I didn't learn anything new about them. They didn't seem to show much against Basin. Lots of ground a pound. This game has been a barn burner the last 4 years, hope for a good one Friday. Go Wildcats!

  6. Deep down I would love for it to get really nasty. I would love to see the Cats stomp a mud hole and walk it dry. I hope Coach Davis gets the opportunity to pull the dogs off, which I think he will do just to keep the "bigwigs" in the county happy. Tomorrow night can't get here soon enough. Go Wildcats!
  7. I could see that happening too. If PC comes out like they did in the Walker Valley scrimmage, look out! It could get ugly, and quick.
  8. Alright, score prediction time. I'm going to say that this one will be closer than people think, simply because it's a rivalry game. Go Wildcats! Polk-35 Copper Basin-14
  9. It's finally game week. I thought Polk looked really good against Loudon in the jamboree, outside of the goal line fumble of course. PC moved the ball right down the field twice. I'm going to hold off on a score prediction for a couple of days. The buzz around town is all about this game. Hope it's an injury free, hard hitting, and exciting game for both sides. These communities deserve that. Go Wildcats!
  10. Right you are. We are truly blessed with one of the prettiest places to watch high school football in the state.
  11. I think the last time they played each other was 2004. CB dropped Polk the following year. Yes, Coach Davis is still the head coach. His staff has changed a good bit, but his dad still helps. Coach Davis is a great dude and great coach. He and his staff are first class! Go Wildcats!
  12. I agree 100% with your observation of the scrimmage last night. That defense is flat out nasty when they get to the ball. The o line got down and dirty with WV's defensive front, and the WV defenders didn't want to get in front of the PC running backs. I'm so excited to watch this team this season if they play like that all the time! Go Wildcats!
  13. I have been at the first two scrimmages, and have been impressed with the red team. Seemed to handle Sequoyah well early in the scrimmage and then rolled some second stringers in and let Sequoyah back in it. The start of the scrimmage against Loudon was sloppy but they seemed to settle in after the first few series. PC also had a few starters out for the Loudon scrimmage. The issue with this team is going to be depth. The first string seems to be real sporty but I worry about them running out of gas late in games. Hope they can get and stay healthy. I was happy to see the aggressiveness back, especially on defense. I think this team is capable of winning 6-8 games depending on if they can keep their starters healthy. Can't wait for August. 18! Go Wildcats!
  14. It's back! Finally, the rivalry game that everyone in the county has wanted for years. Haven't heard much about CB yet, other than they are having difficulties finding a QB. Anyone have any more info on them? The Wildcats have looked much improved from the last couple of years in their first two scrimmages. Seem to have more speed and that aggressiveness back. I'm sure the county will be shut down on the 18th, because everyone will be at Copper Basin for this one. Can't wait! Go Wildcats!
  15. You also have failed to give anyone an example to back up the crap you are throwing out.
  16. Lol. You seriously are a special kind of ignorant bordering stupidity. If these things are not his to decide, then whose are they? Where would the soccer team be without the maintenance done to that field? Do you think it's their right to play on that field? They started a team without a place to play and were bailed out by the baseball and football fields. They play and practice when it's convenient for him? I just talked with the soccer coach at their game yesterday and he was complimenting how well he and Coach Davis have worked together to use that field. Where would the baseball team be without donations from football (which was Coach Davis' decision)? It is his and any other head coach at PCHS' decision on what they do with their programs money. He isn't required to help out anyone else with money. A bad person WOULD NOT ALLOW these things to happen. The fact that Coach Davis doesn't raise heck over it says a lot about the kind of person he is. And by the way if you have been around PCHS football for 40 years and care so much about it, what has stopped you from going to Coach Davis yourself? It's easy to smear someone from behind a keyboard.
  17. Here we go with the ignorance again. I would love for you to give me examples of what you are talking about when you say Coach Davis doesn't care about anything else. Could it be the band to which he gives a portion of every ticket sold on Friday night home games? Could it be soccer whose field he maintains for free and without question? Could it be baseball to which he donated money to build their complex? Could it be basketball who he allows to sell football programs as a fundraiser? Could it be cheer who he donated money to buy uniforms and a mascot costume? Could it be golf, whose motel rooms he paid for when they made the state tournament? Which one of these programs are you talking about when you make these slandering statements? Have some facts about things before you shoot off your mouth. Don't question someone's character when you obviously know nothing about them as a person. You have ran your mouth and made inaccurate assumptions. I have given facts and examples of actual events that have happened. Coach Davis is a good person. Period.
  18. Ignorance makes my blood boil! I am happy to see someone else on here that understands football and the coaching perspective.
  19. This shows how much you really know about Polk football and Coach Davis. He doesn't even call the offensive plays and never has. His dad was the offensive coordinator for a lot of years until another one of his assistants took over a few years ago. He has been the defensive coordinator since he became the head coach. The game you are talking about was a coaching blunder but not by Coach Davis. East Ridge didn't score a single offensive point. You are right about one thing, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. No matter how dumb and ignorant it may be. Become knowledgeable about what you are running your mouth about before you decide to run your mouth. Have a lovely day and go wildcats.
  20. You obviously know nothing about coaching or what it takes to run any kind of program or business. Anytime you are in charge of something, you must motivate the people who work for you. Coach Davis taking away the P was simply him trying to motivate his players. As far as players "busting their butts", that's exactly what he was trying to get them to do. A drop in talent is one thing but when you have kids who just want to be on the team and couldn't care less about winning or their team, you have to try to change that. The attitude of the kids at Polk was horrible the last two years. Coach Davis and staff have turned that around. I have been around Polk County football for 30+ years and have seen teams that were not talented win 7-8 ball games and make the playoffs under Coach Davis. He cares about his players on and off the field and has put out some great young men. Sorry but I wouldn't want you or your kids to play for our Polk teams because you're probably the same kind of person that expects everyone to get a trophy. I'd love to know what parents you talk to because I would bet they have a grudge against Coach Davis and staff. They are in the minority. 98% of players that are in the Polk football program for 4 years graduate with the highest respect for Coach Davis, even if they never started. I wouldn't want anyone else in the state to lead our football team or young men. We have a great coach in Coach Davis.
  21. That is pathetic on their part. Basin would have had a shot at Polk the last 2 years. I wish the fan bases would but some pressure on these so called "bigwigs" to bring this game back. This new generation of young fans will never know how fun this rivalry was. The communities are truly missing out.
  22. I think it is absolutely ridiculous that Basin will still not play Polk County. Why not bring this game back? It would be great for the two communities to fire this rivalry up again. There is no reason that these 2 teams from the same county do not play each other. Basin drives into North Carolina and all the way to Coalfield to stay away from Polk. Seems a bit ridiculous to me.
  23. This game has got me scratching my head. I really don't know much about Tyner other than they have a great coach in Turner. Polk has a great coach and staff also. Polk has power and I'm sure Tyner will have plenty of speed. This will be a true test for Polk. Go Wildcats!
  24. Polk played poorly against Geenback. They seemed to be experimenting with their defensive backfield in that scrimmage also. That scrimmage is a prime example of not being able to gage a team by a preseason scrimmage. ER had plenty of talent and speed.
  25. So happy that the Wildcats got one Friday night. They earned that one! Great for our fan base. That win against East Ridge reminded me of the old Polk that was physical and wore the other team down as the game went on. Looking forward to the rest of the season. Go Wildcats!!
